Warning on Driving in Japan with a Thai License
You cannot believe everything you read online... (1) Australia is not in Asia (2) Australia does not require you to have an IDP. All Australia requires is either... (1) A licence that is in English (e.g. a Thai licence), OR (2) A foreign licence accompanied by an English translation (the translation could be an IDP, or it could just be a simple informal translation.) But check the current regulations for the state in which you wish to drive, as requirements can change. For example, New South Wales used to allow the driver to translate their own licence into English during a traffic stop.

Application for NON-O retirement (Chiang Mai)
Need to correct that. (1) It's not "3 months after application" ... it's TWO months after APPROVAL. (2) It's not "back up to 800k prior to next extension" ... its "back up to 800k THREE MONTHS prior to next APPLICATION.

Late to renew retirement visa
Ask the hospital to arrange a medical extension for you. Then piggyback your retirement extension onto that when you get out. But why can't you renew it before you go to hospital? You can do it up to a month early in most provinces.

savannakhet now require bank statement (400k) for 1 year multi visa (non-O marriage or Thai family)
1. I think you only need 200k for Thai child? But, yes, (non-seasoned) money is required everywhere now ... except perhaps Ho Chi Min city. 2. The 60-day extension is allowed on the back of any type of visa (and on top of visa exemption too).

Question about Extension stay and change of passport
My extension got moved to my new passport, in 2019. Maybe the regulation that you quoted only applies when someone had received a truncated extension. (But there would be no logical reason to do that.)

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
But if it is pension income that is not taxable in your home country, then your argument doesn't apply. You could end up having to pay tax on your formerly tax-free pension.

My current driving licences is not from home country but from the one I have lived in for more than 20 years - has anybody got a Thai one like this?
You don't need an IDP if the foreign licence is in English.

Residence Certificate vs Yellow Book
1. You are not registered as "de facto spouse" at the Land Office nor anywhere else. 2. Yes, a copy of the Chanote should be good enough, along with the original blue book. As would a letter from her stating that you live in her house, together with her original blue book. Or you could bring her with you. But, ultimately, you need to ask YOUR local office what THEY want to see.
