  1. Ah ok, maintain for three months after approval - thanks again.
  2. The thing is without embassy letter your first extension needs to be done using money in bank method. 800k in a Thai bank. As soon as you start process for extension using money in bank method you would start the monthly transfers. You run both methods at the same time. For second extension you can show 12 international transfers if min 65k per month.. You can also show compliance with the money in bank method. After that you can just use income method ongoing. Here is thread of my most recent extension at CW using income method. Some unrelated issues in that thread however some parts useful. So Dr. Jack, could I put Bt800k in a Thai bank and at the same time start making Bt65k monthly transfers, and then: - 2 months after approval, send 400k to UK dropping the Thai balance to 400k. - 2 months before needing to extend, transfer another 400k back to the Thai bank from UK, so I have 800k balance again. - After getting the extension, transfer 800k out of the Thai bank and carry on with the transfers thereafter until the next extension? Thanks!
  3. Thanks DrJack, O visa by income method seems to be my best option. when would the first transfer need to be made?
  4. Thanks for the thorough explanation, O looks like the far better choice...
  5. I am expecting to go to the UK for 2- 3 months each year. Looked at O-A as its about £400 cheaper when factoring the difference in interest rates between Thailand and UK, but O seems to be a lot less hassle. Regarding monthly transfers, can these come from existing savings/capital or do they have to be from a pension? I don't have a pension but have the funds so income method would be good....
  6. Thank you Dr. Jack. So I have to decide between extension with sending funds into a Thai bank, or going through the whole O-A process again; I was hoping there would be no funds transfer requirement :(
  7. Hi, I have had a Non-O in the past but am looking at the O-A from London. Insurance: from what I have read it seems complicated getting it from a non-Thai provider, has anyone done this successfully from a UK/Global co. and what is the approx cost? (I am 60 with no existing conditions, fit and healthy with no claim history). Visa Termination: I see that I can leave Thailand and re-enter before the end of the first year, and in effect get another year of visa usage. If I want to leave Thailand in the following months, does the previous multiple entry status I had continue, if not can I get a re-entry permit, or does the visa finish if I leave the kingdom again? Renewal Location: Where does the visa have to be renewed, Thailand or my home country, or either? If in Thailand, do I need to transfer Bt800k into a Thai bank? Renewal Timing: Can the visa be renewed any time i.e. towards the end of the first year, or any time in the second year if I do an in/out before the visa expires in the first year? Thanks!
  8. Thanks for that. So I assume if I arrived back in Thailand on June 1, and my original visa/insurance were due to expire after June 1, I would have to have the insurance valid from June 2 onwards on hand?
  9. Hi all, I understood that if you exited Thailand on an OA and re-entered just before the visa was due to expire, you would get an automatic year extension, without going to immigration. Is this still the case? Are there any conditions, e.g. if you leave Thailand again in the next year is the visa invalidated? Thanks!
  10. Mine expired mid 2020 so I will ask at Bang Chak my local DLT....
  11. Hi All, My 5 Year Thai Driving License expired during COVID. If I want to get a new one/renew, do I have to apply from scratch and go through the whole process again, or am I exempt from some of the process and/or tests? Thanks!
  12. Thanks guys, first step I will ask for the bank details then send a small transfer and leave a message. After that I will post all the info they can send me on some forums.
  13. Thanks for that, but none of the people in the UK know her friends and I have never met her - not seen him for 20 years...Btw, I tried facebook, IG etc....
  14. Thanks for the info. Could you just leave the country within a few days of the wp cancellation, and then come back in later as a tourist, or with a new visa from a consulate overseas?
  15. A distant ex-work colleague died suddenly of a heart attack recently in the UK. Mutual friends say he had a Thai wife in Phuket and they want to contact her. All his devices and computers are locked/inaccessible. They have her Thai bank details and wonder if this can be used to obtain her ID etc. from the bank. I assume this would need some legal authority. I also hear that Thais often go on pantip.com if needing to find someone, some people there are very helpful apparently. Does anyone have any information regarding these avenues, or any alternative methods other than getting a Private Investigator? Thanks!
  16. Hi All, A foreigner has a work permit and a Non-B work visa. If the work permit ends or is terminated, what happens to the NON-B, visa is it cancelled or does it continue as valid until expiry? Thanks!
  17. Ok thanks. So I have to buy a yearly subscription or...? Do you have the link?
  18. Hi Everyone, I thought when I bought the firestick I would be able to get top sports, movies, BBC, Sky etc by buying software for something like $50-100 per year. Does anyone know where I can get this and what the best options are? Thanks!
  19. Thanks for the clarification DrJack 🙂
  20. Thank you DrJack, so just to be clear, as I already have my visa and it is valid from 17 June until 13 Dec, I have in effect 'lost' a couple of weeks when I could have stayed longer in Thailand? This is not an issue, and I applied 3 weeks in advance not knowing how long it would take to get the visa just in case...
  21. Hi All, I have just received my METV in London. It is valid until 13 Dec 2025. I arrive in BKK on 5 July. I am aware that before my visa validity expires I can leave the country and re-enter to get an additional 60 + 30 days, which can take the total visa usage up to nearly 270 days. Would I have to leave Thailand and reenter before 13 December to do this, or would the final date be 179 days from 5 July (my arrival date in Thailand), i.e. 31 December? Thanks!
