  1. They could just start turning away people with tattoos, that would be a great start - no brainer to weed out the no brainers. I mean, what says IQ <100 more than some stupid picture copied off a tattoo parlor wall, inane scribbling or the worst foreign script (Thai) stained into your body you cannot read, pronounce, understand or explain? Even better, the "tribal tattoo" -from the tribe Morona no doubt.

Asian people with Buddhist or animist tattoos excepted*

this would be a start but........ no brits, ozzies, ruskies just deutsche, some amies, chinese and koreansblink.png not so pleasant i guesswhistling.gif

  2. We all have social morays under which we form opinions of people at first sight. However right or wrong, it is part of our makeup.

Something about this fellow tells me to just walk the other way. Might be the nicest guy in the world, but I'll never know because my experience tells me to steer clear of him.

  3. In my area the Monks begin the daily Alms rounds early. In my area we begin our house hold work early to avoid the heat of the day. In our area we work up until 10pm most nights (again to avoid the heat) which means bedtime around 11 or midnight. In my area we do not sit in a bar drinking until 3am, sleeping in until 2 in the afternoon. But these are just some of the reason why normal people get up early, get work done, sleep during the hottest time of the day and then start again.

Sometimes I truly miss my bar hopping days as a tourist.....

I'm sorry but I really don't know which country you are from but in the West, normal people don't get up at 5:00am!

Normal people in Western countries work from 9:00am-5:00pm,they don't get up when it's still dark and fall asleep on their feet for the rest of the day!

I'm in the west and I get up at 5 to start work at 6. Only office workers do 9 to 5.

I think the op spent his worklife starting at 9am perhaps? It certainly isn't only Thailand getting up at 5. I'd say the whole construction industry most are up by 6am at latest and thats worldwide. That's just 1 industry. Anyhow, best time of the day when the sun starts coming up!

  4. jt you are absolutely right, but there is so much misleading information out there, especially from real estate agents ( different forums created

by them ) especially in panama and cr bothgreat places to retire,if you can afford it ), here comes the but, SEAsian countries are the cheapest

countries for adventurous expats to retire, theese are my rankings :

#1 LOS ( best in housing, infrastucture, HC, expatcommunity and much more )

#2 the Philipines ( very closed, for shure better beaches but the food?? )

    #3 Vietnam ( will be in 10 years #1 )

    #4 cambodia

    #5 Laos

    Burma/Mmar will catch up soon

as I say, just my thoughtswai.gif

  5. 1000 US$ per month to live in South or Central America ? pretty much impossible ! in CR or Panama 555

1500 US$ per month is possible, but not fun at all

45000 bath in LOS gives you probably more quality of life there

most of the retirement destinations in int.living are pretty much for people with more than 2500 US$ per month retirement

(remember: 550$ per month in CM, 650$in..., 750$ in..., just a joke )

stay in LOS as long as you can, still the biggest bang for your bucks and more entertaining especially on TVsmile.png

  6. Wikipedia seems to have summed up the term quite well, it's not a good term and pretty much means any banned drug.

    Narcotic
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This article is about the drug classification. For the scuba diving reference, see Nitrogen narcosis. For the sedative agent, see Sedative. For pain control medications of both narcotic and non-narcotic varieties, see Analgesic. For the album by Muslimgauze, see Narcotic (album).

Heroin, a powerful opioid and narcotic.

The term narcotic (pronunciation: /nɑrˈkɒtɨk/, from ancient Greek ναρκῶ narkō, "Ι benumb") originally referred medically to any psychoactive compound with any sleep-inducing properties. In the United States it has since become associated with opioids, commonly morphine and heroin and their derivatives, such as hydrocodone. The term is, today, imprecisely defined and typically has negative connotations.[1][2] When used in a legal context in the U.S., a narcotic

drug is simply one that is totally prohibited, or one that is used in

violation of strict governmental regulation, such as heroin or morphine.

From a pharmacological standpoint it is not a useful term,[3]

as is evinced by the that gives to ardent spirit and wine their

intoxicating power; while the narcotic principle to opium and tobacco

imparts similar properties. In popular language, alcohol is classed

among the stimulants; and opium and tobacco among the narcotics; which

are substances whose ultimate effect upon the animal system is to

produce torpor and insensibility; but taken in small quantities they at

first exhilarate. And since alcohol does the same, most medical writers,

at the present day, class it among the narcotics. |Edward Hitchcock,

    American Temperance Society (1830)[4] |}}

Statutory classification of a drug as a narcotic often increases the

penalties for violation of drug control statutes. For example, although

federal law classifies both cocaine and amphetamines

as "Schedule II" drugs, the penalty for possession of cocaine is

greater than the penalty for possession of amphetamines because cocaine,

unlike amphetamines, is classified as a narcotic.[5]

If that was true in every courtroom then I would have been convicted of manufacturing narcotics in 1999. I guess Arizona must go by some other Legal term because my conviction was for Manufacturing Dangerous Drugs. Not Narcotics, Not Methamphetamine. In the real world, not the wikipedia one that is how they do it. I have been clean since August 1999. I have been sober since 1993. I guess Arizona corrected me.

    lucky you and lucky AZ

  7. Hi there,

I am from India, a friend of mine actually suggested me to join this forum.

He is calling me to Thailand to see some business proposals. As I might say, I am very much interested in starting something on the similar lines. (As in Agro based )......

Also I think me & my colleague would help you in doing what to intend to, that is selling investment plots.

We have a few clients who will be interested in buying for investment purposes.

Only problem is I personally will be coming next month. So till then I can't do anything.

Also we will have a few terms & conditions set before we start working on your behalf.

Please mail me for further details or queries.

    Regards,

    Himanshu.

  9. will they ever get the gang leaders ,or only the small fry

The US government is unable/unwilling to put bankers and other financiers behind bars in the US so why do you think that the Royal Thai government would suddenly change course and do so? That being said, and pardon me for emphasizing the need to be taken quite literally here, but traditionally heads have rolled after such a drug bust, with said heads usually being found in a canal some distance from the big city.

or some skidivers without wings or other forms of suicides, fine with me

  10. You can import the boat free of excise-duty (iow: Tax-Free), but you still have to pay 7% VAT.

You can not import the Outboard Motor free of excise-duty (+ 200% of new-value) and you also have to pay 7% over the total, which includes cost of CIF !

Forget importing anything with wheels on it, because the import-duties are way too high.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks, this helped

  11. I have a seaark 2072 with a yamaha 90hp jet ( 115 hp with prop) here in the US, I am wondering if it would make sense to import it to Thailand, great river runner, runs on step on 10 inches of water, easy;

anybody has an idea about custom duties etc? anybody imported a boat to thailand before for private purposes ?

also have a polaris 6 wheeler, sportsman 500, the same questions here
