So 30,000 people around the world have died of the virus which started say 100 days ago, which equates to 300 people per day worldwide. In pre-virus times the average world death rate was around 150,000 people per day
Right. So the world population in 2020 is around 7.8b, if you don't control the spreading of the virus whatsoever, you'll get everyone infected in 3-4 months. Let's say COVID-19's overall mortality rate is 1%, so you get 78m COVID-19 fatalities vs 13.5-18m deaths if the things were normal. Not a big deal indeed

My wife travels with two passports, the best you can do if you don’t want to spend lots of time at CW. They can’t transfer the sticker at the airport, this is 100%

saved by wearing a helmet perhaps at most 5%
This is total rubbish. You might want to google a little before spreading misinformation which might cost people lives: https://crashstats.nhtsa.dot.gov/Api/Public/ViewPublication/812388
"helmets in preventing death (37% for operators and 41% for passengers) and injuries (8% for minor and 13% for serious injury)"

Would it be possible that the boy is living in a city 10 km away?
My dear TV expert, look at the map first (if you can find Koh Samui on it). My point is the whole article is aimed at tourists (read it again) who don't "follow local advice" while the kid is most likely Samui local (plenty of them hang out at beaches in the afternoon). Write an article about Thai kids having no idea about swimming and riptides and attach this video - this will be spot on

It’s not officially closed, they just put up a sign “automatic scooters no allowed”, but who cares. Same sign on Maenam Soi 5 which is much more extreme

Honda is fine as long as you stay away from Zoomer and especially MSX. Both have amazingly bad blinkers which fall apart after about 1.5 years (UV I guess), you gotta buy new ones every time at 500 baht/piece. 2k every 1.5-2 years is a lot compared to regular 4000 km maintenance procedures which cost couple of hundred of baht.
My MSX is an absolute disaster. I hardly drive it, 5000 km in 5 years, had to replace half of the bike already (fuel pump, LCD speedo, front wheel hub bearing, which is falling apart again by the way, battery, blinkers - numerous times), ignition wiring got loose at some point, had to learn jump start

"I can't as it's behind a paywall". It's not, just press Read More. I thought that too first as it does look like a paywall, and here's a repost in Bangkok Post: https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/1733647/thailands-roads-are-deadly-especially-if-youre-poor
It's rubbish in my opinion

It's next to impossible to get lost on Koh Samui these days unless it's dark or you break legs while exploring some overgrown jungle trail. They probably found him already

A few years back (like 3 or 4, Koh Samui imm office was still in Nathon) I was given a sheet of paper with a request to "write something" (in Thai). So I wrote usual crap like "My name is, I'm from, I like Thailand mak-mak", the immigration officer was really impressed, as in "you goddamn f-cking kidding me, you didn't write that, who wrote that for you?". Next extension they asked me to write names of my favorite Thai dishes, that was a good laugh for them as I made a whole bunch of mistakes

They are not, only WP works 100% these days. Opening a bank account with mickey mouse ED visa is a lot easier in fact, even Bangkok Bank which is an official partner of TE will give you grief if you just walk in (TE concierge should contact the bank first and arrange an appointment) - I was told my visa was fake as there was no PE type visas mentioned in their manuals

I tried all the helmets at both Honda dealerships, they just don't fit my head very well. The best one for me hands down is Avex Teenage, BigC and Tesco used to sell them for 600 baht, but not anymore, real bummer. They are probably not as good as Arai, but I tested it with friends - we hit each other with a fire extinguisher as a part of a drinking game, and the helmet made it feel like a gentle push. So they're not a total flop as many people think, I just wish the strap and buckle held longer.
Well, anyway, will check out Kawasaki shop in the next few days, thanks for the tip!

That's what I got a couple of days ago. It has nothing to do with reality in my area though, just expect a powercut any time of the day.
"Provincial Electrucity Authority at Samui branch announced that during refixing the underwater cable line during 8-10 Aug 2018 the power service will be temporary cut off as shown: 11.00-13.00 - Chaweng beach area 13.00-15.00-Meanam seaside, Bangrak, Plailam, Cherngmon, Dow market, Lamdin market, Chawengnoi, 15.00-17.00 - Makro, Ring road in Chaweng area, Bangkok hospital, Phangan area-Ban Tongnaipan, Maduewan-Wangtakian 17.00-19.00 - Plailam&Tongsai, Maenam, Bankaoprom, Lotus Chaweng 19.00-21.00 - Meanam seaside, Bangrak, Plailam, Cherngmon, Dow market, Lamdin market, Chawengnoi, 21.00-23.00 - Chaweng beach area 23.00-01.00 - Cherngmon"

I got my 5 year DL in Samui yearly this year (held 1y and 2y temporary ones before), but my wife still got only 2y (renewed from 2y) - no idea why. We're on the same TE type, 500k THB / 5 years

Does anyone have this table for 2018? Don't really like online/app tide thingies

It would be really interesting to hear back from the topic starter. I've failed to find any reports of Thailand Elite holders applying for Schengen visas, but there are plenty of really nasty "no WP, no visa" reports. I'm also Russian and already enjoyed a fair bit of Schengen application hassle back in Russia, but here it seems to be even more problematic.
