  1. great u are getting your heart rate up. definitely for sure. what about the new info that says people that do this are hurting thier heart.  remember jim fixx

    Your info is incomplete/incorrect.

Also, concerning Jim Fixx - from Wikipedia - His autopsy revealed that atherosclerosis had blocked one coronary artery 95%, a second 85%, and a third 70%.

He had, on several occasions, refused a checkup, which could have found the problems.

  2. I believe the correct routine for road running is to have two pairs of shoes. You only use one pair for running, keeping one "new" pair unused. About once a month you run in the "unused" pair. As soon as you can feel a difference between the two you buy a new pair and repeat.

I spent probably a decade or two using two pairs of shoes, and rotating them between runs. Now a single pair works fine for me and causes no problems.

Of course I am no longer running marathon distances, and usually alternate between a run on one day and a solid bike ride on the other day at this point in my rapidly aging life.

  3. pounding on the body is not good.. how can one argue with running on air?  nike is a nasty company now though. i wish thier patents would be taken off so other shoe companies could utilize air technology

Actually research is showing that the jarring of running is actually good for the joints over time. Cyclists and swimmers seem to face some later aged problems because they have not had that jarring over the years.

And every running shoe, unless one goes for the totally minimal shoe, has a degree of cushioning. Is cushioning via air vs. gel vs. foam better? It really depends on the runner, the running surface, the amount of running, etc etc.

As the late great running philosopher Dr. George Sheehan told us, each of us is an experiment of one.

  4.
Great copy paste skills, I think we have already been through all this though, I meant to say why would they change their mind and issue a request for his arrest?

In your previous post you seemed to be referring to Interpol changing their mind and issuing a request for an arrest. Whom are you referring too here?

  5.
If Interpol suddenly changed the decision they made 10 years ago to not issue a warrant for his arrest?  And why would they do that?

“When INTERPOL publishes a Red Notice this is simply to inform all member countries that the person is wanted based on an arrest warrant or equivalent judicial decision issued by a country or an international tribunal. INTERPOL does not issue arrest warrants.”

  6. We flew EVA for the first time this past November from the US to BKK and will return in April. We liked the flight very much and it was nice to leave late at night and arrive in BKK in the middle of the day as opposed to our normal arrival times of around midnight.

I also do like their upgraded economy section.

One problem I have is that I find it difficult to reserve round trip tickets since we depart a bit inland from the coast. EVA is happy to make us a round trip reservation from Seattle, for instance, but then it is up to us to get back and forth, to and from Seattle.

I want to check in our baggage in Spokane, WA and not see it again until we hit BKK, and expect the same in the return flight.

  7. everybodys foot has a different shape and thus certain brands of shoe work best for them. but its kind of hard to argue with a good nike air full foot air shoe. walking on air?  how can that be beat? in usa nike has policy i think 30days returnand u can even go running in them to try. but i dont think that offer is good in thailand. try before u buy. how can u beat that

The challenge is that every shoe brand offers different types of shoes to fit different types of feet. There are motion control shoes, stability shoes and neutral types of shoes.

One really needs to know a bit more about a person’s foot before making any recommendation

  8. Spokane al im not criticizing u . u are blessed to able to do this. many cannot though. i have gotten spinal degeneration from activities you are suggesting. my suggestion is to take it easy.  look at any triathlete from the hey dey in 80s. theyre bodys are all worn  out  ,,,,,,,,,,,im in this for the long haul

I do appreciate your comments and understand that many cannot do this. It is too early to tell with the OP - I think he did too much too soon and now needs to heal before attempting to go again.

P.S. I am one of those triathletes from the 80s.

    Be well.

  9. buy nike air shoes if they work for you . second. find a beach that is flat. run on that. third never run more than 30 min. at a time. preferably 23 min.  u can still get your heart rate up in tht time period. running for an hour is too much.  finaly never ever run on concrete ever.   focus on scooting.  like  a cross country skier. swing arms hard. u want to slide and scoot ........not pound downwards...........how about swimming?

If one slowly builds up to it one can run for hours at a time and on any surface, and if hills are involved, that is even better. I have been running for over forty years and am currently running right at 27 miles per week over four days each week, with the other days involving long bike rides. Like most other things in life there are no absolutes.

  10. Three possibilities come to mind.

Are you wearing good running shoes, made specifically for running?

    https://www.runningshoesguru.com/content/best-running-shoes/

You may may be experiencing an overuse injury. The rule of thumb is never to increase either mileage or distance by more than ten percent from one week to the next. And in that you are new to running I would suggest caution and perhaps less than that.

You may also be pushing too hard and/or too fast too soon. Longer slower stuff on a number of the days, faster, more intense but much shorter intervals on other days, and rest and stretching in between.

If your pain goes away when you run, you are probably okay to continue. If it continues to hurt or get worse, stop and heal.

  11. So far in 2018, there has been 18 mass shootings at US schools, how many mass shootings have there been at French schools over the same period?

How many mass shootings have there been, at any location, in France for 2018?

    Not true.

  12. A visa is never extended.
The last one year entry from a OA visa can be extended for a year based upon retirement at a immigration office during the last 30 days of it.

UbonJoe, isn’t he asking how to obtain the second year from a non imm o-a multi entry visa, as opposed to switching over to an extension of stay based on retirement?

  13. Whichever level of insurance you choose, no matter what others say, when/if you have an accident, you will be basically standing alone. I purchase class one insurance each year, and while relatives like to tell me that I am spending too much money, I do it because I want that coverage. I also believe in insurance coverage on a motorcycle as well. Driving in a country with the most dangerous roads in the world means that I want the insurance. I also have a dash cam, which can save you a small amount on the insurance - usually almost enough to pay for the dash cam.

  14. Immigration will accept an affidavit that is up to 6 months old on the date your apply for the extension.

I don’t think that this is correct. I believe that you must make a border run prior to the enter before date on your non imm o-a multi entry visa, and that will get you a twelve month extension from that date. From that point forward, if you decide to leave the country you must purchase a re-entry permit.

I may be wrong but do not believe there is a method to extend your non imm o-a visa via your local immigration office.

I trust others will step in and correct me if I am wrong.
