  1. Western women are the worst, most of them don't enjoy sex or they have hang ups about it. They are also much more unfaithful than Thai women. I see my old school buddies when I return home and they are stuck with absolute pigs. No way they can get out without losing everything. They also look at least ten years older than me too. In my personal opinion most women are out for what they can get without working. Much easier to get married, have kids and be supported for the rest of their lives.

Maybe you're just crap in the sack, mate.

I swear to God, when so many Western men think like this fool, is it any wonder so many of them end up financially and emotionally eviscerated?

Nothing but pity for you, pal

Do you really think that men who aren't talented in bed deserve to be financially and emotionally eviscerated?

Speaking for the 99.5% of males who aren't talented at anything, I believe we need a fair chance at happiness too.

Isn't the whole concept of western law to protect the weak?

(meaning us needy, nerdy, wimpy males)

Or is everything designed for the benefit of the 1 in 1000 Alpha male, and predatory women?

  2. Look Buddy I have lived here for 25 years and have two wives and much more Thai male friends than falung friends. They all tell me the same story and my Thai friends are Directors, Politicians, Generals etc. Not motorbike taxi drivers. Thai women want money for self preservation because there is no social security system. Also close to 2/3 of the population is female so they are always worried you are going to find someone else. Regarding the OP's post if you can't flush $20-$30,000 down the toilet today without feeling it, I would suggest you reconsider your plan of coming to Thailand.

Close to 2/3 of the population is female? The ratio is actually 0.98 male/female. You're the only clown on this thread as far as I can see. Directors, politicians, generals blah blah blah. You'll be telling us you were a navy seal in a past life next.

I have to say, although births are roughly 50/50, single available Thai adults appear to be 2/3 women.

A lot of Thai guys die young, accident, booze, drugs, gangs.

    Many are gay or ladyboy.

More are so poor that no aquisative Thai lady would look at them twice.

Leaving a lot of single available Thai women in their 30s.

So, ITP, if I changed the statement to "there is a vast excess of available single Thai ladies in their 30s" (aka Thai lady forest), would you agree or disagree with that?

I'd disagree with that. Google the figures for yourself. 0.98 is the figure for male to females aged from 15-64. Just think about what you are saying. If two thirds of the population were female that would mean there would be 2 women for every man, which is plainly ridiculous.

From where I live in CM it seems 9/10 of the population is female.

Almost all the uni students are girls, all the shop workers, office staff, street vendors.

The only Thai guys seem to drive tuk tuks and Songtaws.

    Maybe it's different elsewhere.

Don't care what google says, I live here, I can walk down any street and see for myself.

  3. 44 years old and JUST starting to save for retiremeny? Kinda late there pal, not much future for you here in Thailand. money talks for visa's and many other things. you have to have a regular income (not bonds, stocks) in order to retire here and you have to be at least fifty years old.

    Retirement's over rated.

From what I've seen in Thailand, it involves drinking and & eating too much, getting fatter and knocking around with unsavoury local women who, on far more occasions than the old boys will admit, chisel off a good chunk of their money.

    What's the point of that?

    Better to keep working

have to agree with this ,, too,,

i like to keep working, not just because of the money i get,

but i miss the craic with the lads, offshore, or on shore for that matter,

so the new gig im starting 28on and 28 off will be great for me,,lol

    jake

I will have to disagree with both of you, but only slightly.

Better to die before you reach retirement age, and all your bits stop working properly.

Saves you money, saves you worry about retirement, saves you all the endless blah blah about health care plans.

  4. I am back in florida a full week now, and it is the best weather I can remember.

Great for bicycling for cardio and sun, and for clearing the head, and introspection

Eat a piece of "Key Lime Pie", then take a trip to Sanibel Island for me, please.

..but i am sure you will agree that most men who think its fair game for them to lie and cheat, would go ape shit if their partner was doing the same.

    Hypocritical...and pretty typical in Thailand.

My wife, lies to me, cheats on me and steals from my wallet.

It's in her nature, I still love her though.

  6. Dear Ben,

You are thinking of giving up your future for your gf.

Tell us more about your gf.

At 35 she is a bit old for being single, why is she single?

At 35 she is a bit old for not having babies, are you really sure she doesn't have kids tucked away somewhere?

What does she do for a living, have you visited her place of work unexpectedly?

    What assets does she have?

What is she bringing to the marriage table?

The ugly truth of Thailand is there are 1,000s of sex workers with kids preying on needy, nerdy western men.

It isn't worth giving up your future, for a bit of well used tail, that will cheat, steal and lie to you.

Why not go for a Korean woman, plenty in their 30s looking for marriage, of course you won't be bedding them first.

But they have assets, education, employment, no children and are far better partner prospects than the average Thai 30+ lady.

  7. The thing at the district office is what feels meaningless to us. My personal conviction is that government should have nothign to do with marriage, and actually the less governemnt interferes (or even knows about) people's personal lives, the better it is.

Thai citizenship, VISA extensions, parental rights over Thai/English children in Thailand, shared marital assets, inheritance rights (including UK private/company pensions and Thai property) are all benefits of Thai Amphur office marriage.

If you aren't interested in any of those, then you are correct.

If you do have an interest in any of those items, then I am correct.

  8. I only married at the Amphur Office.

No ceremony, no sin sot, no aggravation.

Don't understand why so many foreign men get roped into a village wedding ceremony.

It has no benefit to them, just wastes a lot of their money.

You do understand the village wedding is legally meaningless.

  9. IMO, if you have a serious relationship and are not planning on fooling around, living in Thailand is very dangerous option. Most Western owned businesses do not make any money or fail completely and most teachers barely make enough to survive on a Western lifestyle.

If you plan on fooling around in the bars and massage parlors like crazy, it might be worth taking the chance, but otherwise teaching back home or in another rich country is a lot safer option.

Dangerous....why ? Really interested to know.

    Look what happened to you!

How can you claim Thailand isn't a problem for many foreigners?

Then there are all the posters like Brit, who lost millions.'

Thailand is the land of business and relationship failures.

Not so bad for those who are fully financed, but hell on those who still have to work for a living.

  10. Herpes is a far more likely outcome from (inadvertently, but nonetheless) unprotected sex with a sex worker. I know a guy who...

Condom (intact or broken) is no protection against herpes.

Supposedly so widely spread that 1 in 5 Americans have it (US survey).

Doesn't show symptoms within 2 weeks either.

  11. The TV series Fargo.

Just finished episode 1 of this 10 part series and loved it.

IMDB: A drifter named Lorne Malvo arrives in small-town Minnesota and influences the

population with his malice and violence, including put-upon insurance salesman Lester Nygaard.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2802850/?ref_=nv_sr_1

By the Coen Brothers, this one (so far) has everything. It's dark, violent and quirky.

Superbly written and Billy Bob Thornton is just outstanding.

If the remaining 9 episodes are half as good as this one, we'll be in for a treat.

Too early to call as yet for the whole series, but for me, this was the best pilot

I've seen in quite a while.

    It's good!

PS. I predict the bad guy, Lorne Malvo, is really the devil in disguise.

  12. The last post is now veering way off the topic and has been removed to nip that conversation trend in the bud.

Let's get back to the OPs "How to make friends and meet a Thai lady for sincere relationship and marriage"

Nobody can answer that with honesty.

Yep, been here over 5 years (Chiang Mai).

Didn't meet anyone that matched OPs requirements (or mine) so settled for a long term rental, with option for 2 children.

Friendships with foreigners, entirely possible, met some great guys, and some nice ladies to be friends with.

You've just gotta move your goals slightly to fit in with the local economy.

Love and friendship in one package, impossible IMHO.

But split up your choices and you can find happiness.

  13. When you say semi-auto I assume that you mean auto clutch, that is what I would go for and as someone else mentioned Wave 125i.

Wave 125i is a bit overpriced (30% more), and can't be legally ridden by anyone aged 15-17.

Wave 110i much cheaper (basic model 35k) and can be ridden legally by anyone over 15 years old.

I think your price is a bit out of date, I checked a couple of months ago and the cheapest Wave 110 was 43k, in my local dealer, but Yamaha do a 115cc about 36k, Suzuki too, which is a little less.

Maybe some CVT's are better than others regarding engine braking, we hired a couple on Kho Summed and no engine braking at all, though were were going slow. It was a nightmare on a loose surface, with only rear wheel braking going down a steep hill. My wife came off hers when she touched her front brake, her first ever off (in 25 years).

Manuals (auto clutch) take a little more practice to start, but on the descents feel a lot more secure. In fact we saw a guy drop a scooter on the gravely road just outside Pai last year, lost a lot of skin.

I bought one Friday, 35,300bht + 1,900bht for two year total loss insurance.

(List price 35,800 but 500bht discount for cash)

Wave 110i Front Drum Brake version, Red only

    Model number AFS110KDFE(2TH)

From the main Honda Dealer in CM (the one between bus station and bridge)

(43k is the price for the electric start Wave 110i)

  14. ..but also, once you get out to more rural areas, depending on where the rural area is, some do not speak central thai. Its a whole other dialect and slang. So even if you speak clear central Thai, you cannot always be sure you will be understood in outlying areas. My ex (Thai) was from Bkk. We took a trip in the north. He saw an old lady selling fruit by the roadside. Stopped to buy some and chat with her. I couldnt follow. They seemed to understand each other well enough. When my ex started driving again, i asked him what she had said to him. He replied "No idea!!". lol

If you watch Thai news, they often have central Thai subtitles, cos nobody can understand the regional talk.

When two Thais meet for the first time, they exchange names and ages and negotiate a common language to be used.

    My wife speaks

Laos (used nationwide by rural farmers), Lanna (in the North), Southern and Central Thai, all totally different. I can understand a bit of each.

Most Thais can switch to a different version to cut you out of a conversation, at will.

  15. Hi

Thanks for your replies. To be honest i can't remember if I had it registered in the UK or not as it was

almost 13 years ago. I went there to get the affirmation of freedom to marry. Is there anyway I can find out

    if it is registered?

    Thanks

When you get married in Thailand they give you two Marriage Certificates.

When you register your marriage in the UK, they take and keep one.

So how many marriage certificates do you have left?

    If 1, you registered it.

If 2, you didn't register it.

    How easy is that?

  16. Look at this site

    http://www.propertyguru.com.sg/singapore-overseas-properties/17407/chiangmai-green-valley-condominium

    Almost certainly a scam.

All sorts of promises and guarantees, that only crooks give out, as they have no intention of being around when it fails.

Way overpriced at 3Mbht, a house can be had in that area for 2Mbht.

Better to buy a 2Mbht house and risk the company/leasehold route, than risk 3Mbht on this condo that isn't built and might never be.

New 3 bedroom, 3 showerroom, houses near Mae Rim, 1.8Mbht

    http://www.kkn.co.th/vill/ville12.php

    What's wrong with you?

  17. Lots of crooks operating in the CM area (property and finance).

    <removed>

You are asking for advice on.

    1. Failed condo project (20 years old).

    2. Concrete cancer (likely).

    3. Iffy access.

    4. <removed>

I would go and buy it for a wagon-load of money, seems like you are so rich, you don't care.

  18. You need your full length British Birth Certificate (original)

Her Birth certificate (or Thai ID card if she doesn't have a birth certificate) plus translation into English.

Your marriage certificate plus translation into English.

You don't need the baby passport photo countersigned, you don't need the passport application countersigned.

(That is only for people applying from within the UK)

I've done one (two years ago), and the British Consulate, said countersigning not needed.

They also took photocopies of all original documents and returned them to me on the spot.

Rules have just changed, so nobody has the exact info you want at the moment.

Only what they did last year or before.
