  1. Yes, they are processing one-year extensions now. A friend of mine did it the other day.

Does that mean they can do a 7 day extension also? Does it matter how close to my visa expiration to get the extension? My visa expires on May 18th and I only need until the 25th.

    Thanks for any help

  2. Why does it appear to be such a hardship for anyone who is under 50 and has some omney in the bank to simply get a 12 month multi entry Non Imm O visa which require nothing more than completing a couple of forms, apassport photo and a few thousand baht. Messing around with 30 day visas never made any sense at all to people in this situation.

I agree, but not every consulate will give out Non Imm "O" visa's. besides what would you use for a justification? If you go by the immigration website, the choices are fairly limited.....being younger and stable and shunned upon, makes me think of the Philippines recently.

  3. This really messes me up.....I am 41 yrs old, retiring from the military soon with a pension, all I wish to do is stay in Thailand with my GF and travel around......if they are only talking about 'consecutive voa's and they won't be messing with people who posses "tourist visas", then I should be ok, I'll just have to get tourist visas every couple months, not the best route but feasible.....that is if they leave visa holders alone, as they state in the regulation. See what they need is a visa for people like me, I have plan to work there at all.

  4. Will you be retired from the military. If so, you can get free insurance in Thailand.

    Barry

I will be retired from the Military, and I can still receive tri-care health insurance, but not sure if many Thai doctors/hospitals accept tri-care. I will only be here in the US from late May 2007- Late August 2007 and then return to Thailand to live. Barry> how can I get free insurance?

  5. I was in the Irish bar last Sept when i was there. My GF took me there around midnight and the place was packed....not sure what night, I think it a Tuesday. Anyways, I like it during vacation time, but could see how the local ex-pats wouldn't frequent it due to the prices.

  6. I am looking for the best way to have health insurance during my transition from active duty military (USA) to my transition of moving to Thailand. Here is my scenario>

Specifically, I plan to be in Thailand next Jan 2007 until May 2007 then returning to the states. I will spend the summer here in the states and then return to Thailand in either August or September 2007 for at least a year+++++

What advice could you give me regarding health insurance coverage while I am there, considering that I will be staying mainly in Korat and travelling around here and there?

I will still be on active duty until 31 March 2007 and will need coverage both there and here. If you have any insight, I would appreciate it.

    Thanks for any help

  7. I am wondering where would be the best place to do a visa run  for a one year multi-entry visa from Korat? I am looking at possibly living in Korat after I get a one yr multi-entry, so what's the quickest/best route/city to head for?

With a one year visa? or for a one year visa.? I'm surprised no-one has pointed that out. If you already have a one year visa and need the 90 day stamp then Chong Chom or Poipet are the options.

If you need just a year 'o' multi entry, then you must go to an Embassy or Consul in another country.

If you are applying for a one year Marriage or Retirement Visa, then Kap Choeng Immigration near Surin will do it.

With a one year Visa so I'd have to do the 90 day runs, but the rest of your info may be needed at some point in time, thanks!

  8. Long  term  planning  Travlling? Thought  you  had  over  2  years  left  to  do  in  the  military  yet?  :o

Ever look back wondering where the last year went, or even two? Just a bit of "research". I'll probably ask the same thing in a year to see if anything changes or comes to lite........ :D

you just never know sometimes where the wind may blow....... :D

  9. Informally of course? Thanks for the info.

Yes, right now...I am in the military for 2 yrs, 4 months more before i do anything. I am taking 30 days in september though to visit LOS. I am looking for info on how to live there with the fewest possible visa runs, since I am only 40 now. Any ideas? I saw on the Thai consulate Denver, Co website that to apply for a non-imm visa, I need a reason and letters from whomever veryfying that. How can I do this reasonably?

Studying Thai language/culture should do it. Get a multi entry Non-Immigrant O class visa. That is valid for a year and enables 90 day stays on each entry.

  11. I am looking at moving to Thailand. I'd like to be able to not have to do the visa runs all the time. I am under the age of 50, not marrying to stay there either. Can I get a non-immigrant visa multiple entry, or can I get a 90 day visa? What would I use as a reason for the visa and not have to get letters from an employer/school/etc..... i don't mind doing a run every 90 days but how do i go about doing it?
