  1. This one come around again so soon.....oh well!

If the OP wants more and varied answers just do a search, this has been done to death, but hey," play it again Sam"

Perhaps you didn't notice I've only posted 22 times on here? You didn't write "wait until you've been here 20 years" but your comment was more or less the same thing.....

Well, there's your problem, then. You're not just a newbie on Thaivisa, you're apparently a newbie to web forums, where any idiot knows that he should spend some time reading the forum and seeing what topics have been done to death already, so as, you know, not to prematurely post on something that's been discussed 1,000 times already, so you don't look like even more of an idiot.

Absolutely right, ( idiotic at post #64 and counting this time around), the topic's been flogged to death and of no value or interest to anyone. Talking about fmiserableclap2.gifcoffee1.gifcheesy.gif

The answer is yes to both, yes I'm a newbie on Thai visa, and yes I'm a newbie on web forums, I have never had the time before now, I'm still learning, and if that makes me look like an idiot so be it.

A low number of posts, or even being a member here for just 6 months means nothing ! You may have been on the sidelines for years for all I know, you may have another identity too, Here you assume nothing !

Point taken Sir, and a good one. Didn't know Thai visa existed until about 6 months ago.

  4. They forgot the general driving skills in Thailand, but maybe they do not want to do anything about it ?

I am sure they are aware of the standards of driving, I think the problem might be that most people on the road, including the "driving instructors" ( yeah right ) come from first time car owners ( nobody in the family have ever owned a car before ) so who sets an example ? I'm sure most of you who post can remember sitting in a car when your grand parents where driving, we grew up in cars, most of us already knew how to drive before we got a license by just watching. The Thais didn't get this advantage, it's not an excuse, they scare the s*** out of me too! it's just a fact, driving is still a relatively new experience, it will take years before we can expect any better.

  5. Probably impossible but what I would buy are quality dairy products, priority nr 1 butter, I know, getting dairy products around the country chilled would be a logistical nightmare, the butter in tesco-big C has a vile aftertaste, lurpac imported from Denmark is ok, but the price!!!! An alternative is what I miss need, regards Simon

  6. Have the same problem....have no answer either....am reading this post with interest and await all the TV experts.

Cracked it, I can hardly believe that I got an email and a call from Mitsubishi, if you buy a 2013 model or any of the coming models (2014 and 15) the gps is not included on any Mitsubishi cars/trucks, it will be an optional extra. The price? A whopping 14100 b, think I'll go for a garmin on the windscreen from big C, you know what your paying for, get the best one for about 10000.

Nice to hear that it's resolved.

Only advice GPS wise, buy one with Free Lifetime Maps update and maybe one with support for Driving Recorders

I love my Garmin, look here for current models from the Nuvi series

    http://www.gpssociety.com/EN/Pages/product.aspx

    This one any good?

    nuvi 2467 LM

    Price 6,490 Baht

    It's got lifetime maps update

  7. This sounds very strange.

If the dealership/Mitsubishi corp 'sold' you GPS function and both of you 'paid' for it, it would seem that it is Mitsubishi that is responsible to deliver the GPS to their paying customers ..... The solution lies with corporate.

GPS-Navi systems generally are installed on a SD card - not USB.

I think you should post exactly what both of your dealerships say about the GPS function in your vehicles.

It's is on USB actually. The gps wasn't even mentioned when I bought the car, I was thinking about the motor and other more practical things, the words "gps included" was never mentioned, I assumed it would be on the car because there is an gps icon in the media center, now I know, but I would have preferred if the local dealer actually tried to sell me one even if I wouldn't have bought it. I talked to the Mitsubishi head office, they even checked the chassis nr, they told me that it's not included. It's not the end of the world, thanks for the imput.

  9. Hi out there, can anyone help me or point me in the right direction? I have recently purchased a new Mitsubishi triton, the truck comes with a "media" center built into the center of the dashboard, everything works except for the gps, I need the software on a USB to get it going. Did Mitsubishi deliver the car with the software, no, do the showroom know how to help me, no (but have friend can help, good price for you, I DONT THINK SO!!!) I have been out on the net and downloaded what I thought might be the software, but no joy. I have emailed the head office of Mitsubishi in Bangkok, I am not really expecting an answer. Anyone out there experienced the same problem and solved the issue ? I would really appreciate any input.

  10. Anyone really care, the western residents organize there own transport to and from the airport, the tourists are almost all Russian and Chinese, they are on organized tours, don't need taxis, the few and getting fewer every year European tourists are finding other destinations in Thailand or Asia. It's to little to late, should have been done ages ago.

  11. Living in kata is no different from living in Benidorm, if you are European you will know what I mean, if not think about Disneyland, everything is overpriced, so unless you are really loaded look somewhere else, especially with kids. Someone suggested Rawai, yes nice place, I have just moved from Rawai off Phuket completely, but if I HAD to live on Phuket Rawai is the place I would choose. The only problem is getting there, is got the sea on three sides and a place called Chalong which 99% of the time you have to drive through, always seems to be really bad traffic, you have to see it to believe it, Phuket is not the backpacking little island that it was once, many people don't realise this. If you really want to live on Phuket or have no other options, yes go for Rawai, otherwise run for you life and look around for a different part of Thailand, Phuket isn't Thailand anymore.

  12. Having lived on phuket for 5 years and moved of the dirty and corrupt island to Bangkok, it gives me great pleasure to see part of what made me move getting what they deserve, competition, they call then black taxis, I call them tuk tuks with roofs, when did you last see a meter in a tuk tuk? Isn't it strange the protest just happens to be in low season? Lets hope they all go bust, nobody will care, these people have had thier own way far too long.

  13. Still cheap where I live (hankha near chai nat, 90 mins north west of Bangkok), an adequate dinner for 2 for under 100b, obviously no booze included, but if you want a leo its 55b.After 2 months visiting friends on Phuket it's great to be back in Thailand again, so sure it's still cheap, just stay away form the tourist places. Phuket and pattaya offer 1st world prices with 3rd world quality, I at least have 3rd world prices. Gets some taking used to living like I do, and I know it's not for many people, try it, you can always go back to what your used to.
