Probably Burmese or Cambodian laborers.
Wow, your intelligent comments astounds me.................
I was going to post a similar comment but you bet me to it. Truly a moronic statement and yet one I see repeated quite often on this forum. And it even got some likes! Seems like some people need a healthy dose of realism, or an education....or maybe just a brain.

Oh really? Could you explain why that is? I've been here 10 years and wouldn't have hesitated to help that guy out if I had seen the incident unfold. Maybe the reason no one intervened was because many of them didn't realize it was a totally unprovoked attack. Sure, there's a chance I could have got smacked in the face too but so what? For all those of you criticizing people for not getting involved must be brand spanking new to Thailand.
Also a good chance of getting beat up or arrested when other confused 3rd parties arrive on the scene.... And see you fighting in the middle of two Thai nationals....
Of course a lot of things are possible but, all things considered, I think that's an unlikely scenario especially when in this particular case the incident was captured on camera.
I guess thinking that way helps people like you justify to themselves not taking action or otherwise acting in a cowardly manner.

"...he decided to bank robbery...wearing a sunglass..." This article is about as bungled as the robbery.

I think Indonesia was making a stand on principle in terms of not bowing to pressure from Australia, however, it's unlikely that clemency would have ever been granted whatever the circumstances, although in my opinion it should have been.
In their early twenties when arrested they were guilty of stupidity and greed and were, in fact, only low level dealers. Sure, they deserved to be punished, and they were, spending 9 years on death row in the hell hole of an Indonesian prison. As Andrew Chan's brother rightly pointed out, he was the victim of a flawed legal system. Both were victims of not only a flawed legal system but a totally inhumane one as well.

It's dangerous enough driving in Thailand, riding a bicycle is practically suicidal.

How many baht changed hands , before they came up with that bu...it story?
could well be the case but no way to prove it unless she had motive and gained a large amount of money from the death
Her name is rather interesting, perhaps a history check might reveal something also
RIP
There just has to be a conspiracy here somewhere!

Cowardly scum, bravest thing they ever did was walk up behind off duty officers and put one in the back of their heads when they wernt looking. Send him back now!
No more cowardly or reprehensible than what the British have done in Ireland and elsewhere over several centuries.

I have a friend who runs a business over there and sadly all the locals know exactly what happened.
They were killed by heavy duty fumigation products that are used to kill bedbugs etc. There are certain products that aren't for commercial sale here, and would require a licence to use back west. The room is supposed to be sealed off for 6 or 7 days during fumigation and then another 2 or 3 days for airing out the room. This procedure was not followed. This is without question a case where the hotel owners is fully culpable but was able to pay off the Police.
To add my own suspicion - it said the bodies were discovered 3 days later despite being only booked in for 1 night - they probably sat for a few days while these scumbags tried to decide what to do.
Very sad story
That's interesting, and makes a lot of sense too given the circumstances surrounding the case. I wonder if the father of the deceased is even aware of this.

I find this very hard to believe............
Can anyone really imagine many people, let alone a taxi driver, turn over Thb 2 million to the police?...........c'mon BP.......us elnglish news readers are only 1/2 stupid!
All these "returning money" tales from taxi drivers.....makes me think that TAT is involved??.....the minister is silly enough to go this way!
Oh no! Not another conspiracy theory!
-
The cynical in me says "when the going get tough bring on an honest cab driver story, good for deflection". On the other hand, he might just be a good chap.
Why is there always someone trying to find some sort of conspiracy in these news reports?
-
No Thai people would do a crime like this...........those Burmese people are eveywhere
Are you serious? Not only is your statement an unjustifiable slight against the Burmese people, it's simply not true. Anyone who has lived in Thailand long enough would know that there have been many such random acts of violence perpetrated by Thais.
-
Damn party poopers! There's definitely a general trend going on towards a tightening up of immigration laws in this country.
-
good place to hide out, knowing that the law here is non existent. And anybody can be bought!
Really?? Then why is he in custody? If he was going to be able to buy his way out it would have happened already. The Thai police are not going to make a public display catching this guy and then loose face by letting him get slip away.
Just because some police take bribes doesn't mean you can buy your way out of everything. Have you not seen all the people that have been arrested and deported for no work permits, overstaying visas etc? I had an employee stealing from my company, the police did their job. So if laws are non-existent why did they arrest him?
I know a friend that got caught by the police for drugs. He tried to buy his way out and got charged with bribery too. He has been convicted and is spending many years in jail. So many ex-pats in jails here and you think laws are non existent.
Actually money will buy anything here, it just depends on how much you're able to pay.
I wouldn't be so sure, and it depends on who you're dealing with. Also, as someone else mentioned above, in the event of a high profile case such as this where there are overseas agencies involved, there is less chance to buy your way out.
-
Yaba......wrecking Thais lives continually.....!
Yeah, blame the drugs and not the POS scumbag who did it.
-
Gotta watch out for those tricksters.

What about the people who had money taken from their bank accounts? In most cases they should be reimbursed but I have also heard that this does not always happen and depends on the circumstances and the bank involved.
Yet another reason to remain vigilant when using your credit/debit cards.
-
Brown Frank?? Shouldn't that be Frank Brown? Never heard of anyone going by the (first) name of Brown before.
-
This scumbag is obviously not as clever as he thinks he is. It's a shame he didn't get caught in the act and dealt some rough justice by the victim. I know I would have kicked the **** out of this fat **** if it was me.

I don't think Thai immigration laws are all that different from those of most other countries. In any case, as a sovereign country, its laws are made to serve and protect the interests of Thai nationals, not foreigners.
I also have to wonder why people keep raising the issue of corruption. Yes, we all know Thailand is a corrupt country, and yes, Thais are motivated by money. Wow! Isn't that a revelation? However, it does seem kind of hypocritical when people pass judgement based on their own privileged Western standards.

This was one of many news updates in my email inbox but marked, "must read". I was expecting some kind of sensational twist to the story but instead am presented with the completely unremarkable report of the death of another sorry-ass, sex-crazed, geriatric. Isn't this an almost daily occurrence in Pattaya?

Stop bringing your western values to Thailand... they don't work here.
Hitler is just a historical figure, no worse than Chairman Mao.. so get over it.
Are you serious? What has Western values got to do with it? Are you're saying that mass murder is acceptable in Thai culture? So I guess you would say the murder of six million Jews is just a "historical fact"?

This is a stunning display of ignorance. If this happened at some unknown technical college in the provinces I wouldn't be so surprised but Chulalongkorn University is one of the leading institutes of higher learning in Thailand and has quite a high profile internationally.

Nothing about this story makes sense and is the sort of thing that could only happen in Thailand. Just another horror story of what can go wrong if you're not careful.
