  1. I went to Phuket Immigration today to collect my passport after applying yesterday to renew my retirement exon, when I then went to apply for multiple exit I was presented with this form to complete along with the form applying for the multiple exit. I observed someone questioning the form and the volunteers at the desk advised that the form be photocopied (multiple copies) as each visit would require this in future. I didn't complete the form as it was late in the afternoon and nobody questioned this, I feel this is a real infringement anyway.

  2. My situation was diffrent to your as I was applying to extend my retirement.

I use monthly pension and top up the cash in the bank if needed to make up the 65000, last September I went to Phuket as I have done for many years only to be told the money in bank had to be seasoned for the three months and my money in the bank hadn't been there for the three months I went every day for 1 week and nobody at immigration told me that the cash had to be seasoned only told my money " no good" it took me a while to understand why they said this, the shortage only amounted to 9,000 bht. Between pension and top up

Eventually the captain at immigration asked if I had a credit card and asked me to supply him with 3 months statements which I did the following day and after much coming and going I was granted the extension.

Maybe you could be helped this way if they insist on the three months in the bank for your money.

I really think they just wanted to make sure I could support myself and after being here for a long time I think they really tried to help me, in future I will always leave an amount in the bank for the full three months as.before the money never had to be seasoned, good luck.

  3. Being pre hypertensive myself one of the healthiest things you can do for yourself is to supplement with cayenne pepper. This will regulate your blood pressure without synthetic yuk drugs -see you tube for making tincture with the dry peppers, I don't go anywhere without my tincture and if I feel bp has risen, a few drops puts my heart rate back to normal and bp is stabilised.
Keep away from cheap oils and low quality food. Oatmeal is excellent and only eat a plain diet as healthily as you can.
If you are in a situation where someone is having a heart attack or about to go into cardiac arrest a dose of cayenne pepper (hotter the better) will usually bring the person around until medical help arrives.try google for benefits eat food as fresh and not fried as possible.
Excercise is so important, as are vitamin supplements you are what you eat!

  4. Hi, yes it's worth the trip and the shipping.

IKEA BKK is very well organised and much the same as the west, good products very well trained staff and good cheap food in restaurant etc.

We bought our kitchen there and a host of other stuff, spent a lot of money and was well worth it, only caution I would say is if buying lamps check they are fitted with thai plugs and not plugs for Europe.

We enjoyed our trip there and loved the savings we made by buying good quality.

    Have a nice trip.

  5. Hi I read with interest your posting regarding caring and support for the older person,I did consider this myself a long time ago but feel Thailand is not ready for this.

Have you considered what expense and personal input you would need to open such a facility here.?

I was a nurse and then changed jobs to become a care manager, mostly assessing people leaving hospital to adjust to living in care and rest homes. Many people are very happy with their moves if they are living in the caring homes the owners say they will provide, but many many are shocked by some of these so called care homes where the owners are only in it for money, I would ask you to have a think about staff you would employ, as Thai people will not have the expertise required to for instance look after older farangs

I feel so strongly about this and would hope your motives are sincere and not just to make money.

  6. Many people use bacon strips to put onto Turkey or chicken breast which eventually go very crispy and brown when the bird is cooked, don't discard this crispy bacon, crumble up and sprinkle over the roasting potatoes, they are really tasty, my family fight over the bits left in the roasting pan.

Good cooking everyone and Merry Christmas to all.

  7. Hello Koeko.

Try to buy your washing machine from Homepro, which is what I did when I lived in a condo.

They offered free installation and I think it was the day before delivery someone from the firm came out to measure for pipe work etc, and the installation next to my sink took about 40 minutes with the machine drainage going out in the sink drain (pipe was split) to allow for this.

Good luck and I would advise a front loader automatic with a "quick wash" facility this would save you money on your water bill.

  8. Hi sorry to hear of your torment.

I once was in a similar position to you in UK. My husband was very ill and couldn't help.

My daughter had a boyfriend who was essentially no good and almost every week her flat was broken into to the point the insurance co were threatening to cancel her policy.

Long long story but a relative arranged for a "tough " guy who was well known to visit this boyfriend in his local pub he had a talk with him and probably scared the life out of him, after this no further problems this so called boyfriend moved to another area, maybe try something similar? I'm so sorry to hear your story and hope it's resolved soon.

  9. After reading all the posts I'm left wondering what is safe to eat over here? I realise that chemical fertiliser is used world wide, but I think Thailand is still third world and is probably using fertiliser that may be banned in the west, what do you people eat for your health and safety? Also I don't like western practises for farming and agriculture they too use too much and although assuring the public that food is safe it's obviously not I.e. all the cancers and other health issues etc.

I've lived over here for many years and feel this is "home" now but I will not eat Thai rice I buy Indian basmati cos I love it but who knows if that's ok....

  10. My friend has just done this but after buying in Germany asked a friend to send by mail over here and to use it first and not clean it properly.. So that it could be classed as used. Apparently it was an expensive machine even in Europe.

The parcel arrived no probs but machine took some cleaning!!
