There's no evidence that the Germans told the British that it was available. The embassy can't advise on something they don't know exists, or that there'd definitely be available seats on.

Doesn't matter whether it's law, guideline, recommendation or whatever. The only proper and sensible action is to STAY HOME.

"The UK Navy"???
It's 'The Royal Navy' - simple and concise.
Thank you - you're welcome.

Wouldn't book any flights out until I saw the incoming flight on its way.
Airlines are having a bad time, but their practices are pretty 'sharp', too.
Pay for it, and it doesn't fly, then you're locked into their non-existent refund process and will end up having to take a voucher for future use.

The 1am flight, EK385, originates in Hong Kong.
Last week, the Thursday flight was cancelled, and passengers consolidated onto other Emirates flights. It may have been more than Thursday, so check that.
But, for sure, as passenger numbers decrease, and flights originating in places like China get cancelled, there'll be knock-on effects.

Africa reacts quicker than Europe. In Europe some countries still dither.
Europe is primarily making decisions to protect its economy and standard of living. Neither of those issues matter much in Africa.

As someone as posted already, ensure any wording in any document says "Parental Power" - that is what carries the weight, not the word 'custody'.
Because my ex knew that our child would be better off with me in the west, it was an easy process. No arguments at all.
However, note that if you get 100% parental control, it would only be applicable in Thailand. 'The west' takes more of an equitable view, and unless there was abuse / violence happening, would not accept 100% control by one parent.
In this respect, I actually have more power in Thailand than I do in UK! But, no problems with 'mum' as she's supportive of our plans.

Without doubt, the main thing is to get your son a passport relating to your own nationality.
After that, you'll never need the Thai one again.

1) Tell her you'll marry her
2) Tell the parents that the full sin sod will have to go to the credit card / whatever.
3) Sit back and enjoy.

Hi Steve, but the extension costs 1,900 bt, which is greater than the overstay fine.
One is legal, the other is illegal - you really shouldn't have to think long about which one to do!

I'm just looking at your normal income - £2300.
With a wife and 2 kids and yourself, that's not a lot coming in.
You need to research costs better. Look at costs for you - home rental, utility bills, transport, health insurance. Costs for wife - 'pocket money', 'family support'. Then the biggest, costs for kids - education, social costs, and their health.
Just because they're Thai, don't expect them to use the health scheme for Thais - you won't be putting your family in front of a Thai hospital or doctor, it'll always be 'private'.
And, of course, trips back to Europe and assorted other holidays, perhaps around Asia.

Simple - just get a visa before he travels.

Land exits don't qualify for POOT, only air tickets.

The son should travel on his British passport as a UK national.
Your post suggests that he lives with his family in UK. Consequently, I assume that, for an overseas holiday, he'll have travel insurance.
The policy is almost certain to cover only UK nationals when on holiday, So, if he enters Thailand as a Thai, and anything goes wrong, the insurance will be worth as much as a chocolate fireguard.

Latest update: Entry requirements section – if you're using the 30 day visa exemption you can only enter Thailand through a land border twice per calendar year; otherwise you'll need to obtain a visa in advance

Let the child travel on the UK passport - you don't need any visa at all for a child of that age.
Further, let the child enter Thailand as a British Citizen, then if anything goes wrong, you'll have cover under your travel insurance policy. A UK policy won't cover citizens of another country, just Brits.

My daughter has just started her periods and has associated tummy aches / feeling unwell.
Thai grandma told her to sit on the top step and shuffle down three steps - this wouild limit the period pains to three days.
That's pretty normal!
So, I suggested that she only shuffle down ONE step so the pains would only last one day.
That confused 'em!!

I presume he's in Thailand under his Thai passport, as a Thai person.
You'll only need, therefore, the Thai passport to get out, but "act dumb" and hand BOTH passports to the Immi Officer. That, at least, will show him that the boy is a 'farang' too, so will make the officer less worried about a farang leaving with a Thai kid.
On another point of detail, my daughter is also a dual national. However, she always enters Thailand on her UK passport, and never as a Thai. That's due to our Travel Insurance. It will cover UK citizens on our travels, but, if she 'changed citizenship' on arrival in Thailand, we'd be screwed for a claim should anything happen.

unconscious “with no pulse and no breathing”
I wonder if they copied this line from a RTP report.
Maybe partly copied. The full RTP report would have ended with "..........and we are certain it was suicide."

Technically, he was not naked...just wearing underwear...
If you must over indulge in spirits and take your clothes off...try not to do so in a Muslim country...they do have a low tolerance level for such behavior...
Peltomaki also offered to pay compensation of $1,000 to the Police Compensation Fund.
Wonder where he got that idea?
Are you suggesting Singapore is a Muslim country? Methinks it ain't!!!

If you're not intending to convert to baht now, why send now? Much better to keep 20K in an English bank than in a Thai bank.

If your son shares same surname and has a UK passport, then GO!
I've been in and out many times with my daughter, with no paperwork from mother, and always got through immigration without any queries.

They're using 'The 4 E's' - engage, explain, encourage, and lastly, enforce. It's the usual Uk, liberal, softly-softly approach.
What a load of <deleted> - go straight to the 4th E, then you'll find you won't have to waste resources and time using the first 3.
