I test drove both honda crv diesel model, cx-8 and cx-5 petrol and diesel versions. Ended up buying the cx-5 diesel as it have more torque. Is more quiet and have a more refined automatic gear. The cx-8 felt a bit under powered and also a bit long for parking in cramped parking spaces. The cx-5 diesel got a lot more power than the crv diesel and cx-5 petrol. Road handling for the cx-5 is also superior to the crv.......had my cx-5 diesel for 1 year now and very happy. Bought a 1 year old car with a discount of about 500k for the top model and 5 years mazda warranty.....

There is a new app called InDriver in some cities in Thailand now. Most Grab drivers in Chiangmai use it as well. At least for the moment they do not charge any commission so the driver collects the full amount. Only cash payments allowed. It works by a bidding system where you can offer a fare. If the fare is too low then the app system will give the lowest fare allowed. After you input your destination drivers will submit their fare which will pop up on on your app screen together with the brand/model of your car and their distance from your location. This give you the option to choose a bigger car if you have a lot of luggage for example. The fares are around 20-40% cheaper than Grab.....For trips to Chiangmai airport Grab always charge about 3-4 times the normal fare for this distance but InDriver does not charge more to go the airport than for other locations. they offer offer motorcycle taxi fares and long distance car fares to other cities.

You can easily open a bank account us dollar account with Vietcom bank. I opened a US dollar account and they give you a visa debit card that doubles as atm card similar to what thai banks give you. It is possible to set up the dollar account so you can make local internet banking transfers in local currency. You can also send funds abroad without any restrictions. As you will have work permit I dont know how that work with depositing your salary. I dont have wp and can only deposit with cash if i brought it in from abroad and got a receipt from vn customs or by sending foreign currency by TT. You can withdraw local currency in vn dong and the exchange rate is good.

This model Reboot master 6000 which is similar to Kuvings, using similar big feeding tube, worked well for me for 2 years now . But it is a juicer not a blender. Better for juicing vegetables than blenders. Besides juice it can make smoothies, peanut butter and banana/strawberry sorbets.......comes with 3 attachments used for the various products. Very quiet and solid machine, but more pricey than blenders

In Chiangmai and Bangkok I use the Indriver app. I think they still dont charge any fees from the drivers opposed to Grabs 25% commission on the fare. The Indriver collect more or less the whole fare.The app works by suggesting a fare for the chosen destination and drivers can then offer bids which are usually the same as the fare suggested by the app. Good thing is that you can see how far away the driver is from your location and what brand/model of car they are using. If you have a lot of luggage you can then choose a suitable bigger car (which sometimes will have a higher offer for the fare). I find this way more user friendly as i know how far the car is away and which type of car I will get. The fare is usually 20-40% cheaper than Grab....at least for now.
