Pretty clear that they don't want foreigners coming in at the moment and that is both justifiable and understandable given current circumstances and public opinion.

When will these people learn that they are only temporary visitors for purposes other than tourism and plan accordingly?

about. time somone said what the problem is where did it start. ,all the world is suffering   , Health/Death/Economy ,WHY.  all due to the Chinese eating wild animals.  People dont  earn enough buy normal food like the rest of the world.

Utterly ridiculous how they have posed for this photograph.  Although it says everything about how they view foreigners who are almost never violent even if they have overstayed.  They really are determined to make it clear that foreigners are the enemy.  Welcome to Amazing Thailand.  Over 30 years ago we used to refer to it as the land of smiles - what a joke that is now.

First went to thailand. 1978.   , Visa was easy. ,exchange rate good. ,  nice place to be , now i wonder why people wish to go there or even stay there , and today to get in like trying to jump  through ring fire ,is called Fire wall today

It's hysterical. It took 12 officers to arrest one guy, who they then villainise as much as possible. Hate to point out their incompetence, but the fact he had been in broad daylight, even appearing on the TV shows all 12 probably watched at some point, for years before they caught up with him, kind of proves the point.

should be given life long visa. ,free apartment job with the thai tourist board. ,great asset to thailand.  ,for sure not the normal international gangster.

If his prediction is correct, I wouldn't be surprised at all. It's a gross overreaction at this point, and Thailand needs to learn how to live with this virus just like most of the other countries have. Either they don't understand this or they don't have the capacity, resources and facilities to handle domestic infections

Have people thought that this is a Chinese game ,kill of Thailand as its known ,no tourist. ,no bars ,no girls ,kill of the sex trade. ,send everybody back to there farms. ,and Thailand. will be the feeding bowl of China. ,,,,,

94.45% are most concerned about losing their jobs,

Obviously, not many of the massive number of 1,459 people questioned in the poll, were from the millions who have, rather sadly, already lost their jobs.

in the 1970. thai did not like westerners. at that time we could not even buy ticket on train ,i did get train ticket. ,got thai to buy it for me ,then the other people asked the guard to have me removed ,now they got reason ,to not like westerners.  ,what about the nice chinese.   ,  welcome. , well. the saying goes if they got no rice let them eat cages.  ,that did no work out to well. for one lady        sure. most people know the saying.  ( if they got no bread let them eat cages ).

The key sentence seems to be: “General Somsak said that members had agreed to extend the state of emergency for another month to prevent a second wave of contagion after schools reopen next week.”

None of us really knows what the virus will do next. We have been very lucky so far in Thailand, when compared with what has happened in other countries. I would be inclined to give the government the benefit of the doubt.

Quite correct. just look USA. ,Uk. ,now over40,000 dead. ,i am not one. ,but if your one that gets this Virus its life changing ,it does come back. ,you loose. your taste and are always tired. ,yes. had my run days. ,now only wish to sleep. ,,,,,,live and  bad. ,die. ,never tried that ,looking in from europe.   thailand.  ,doing good job ,looking at the UK.  it truly Bad

Do you think that by now, Thai people realised and it dawned on them that basically without foreigners this country is pretty much back to being a farm and agriculture oriented country, no better than many other poor third world countries around the world.. and do you think that they will remember it when the good times comes rolling back?...

Dont be stupid.  ,with climate change.  ,its food that will have the value. ,not Tarts.  Thailand export food all over the world.

To be honest i love to be doing business with a foreigner. I mean like a foreign handyman or something. I find it hard to find Thais to do a really good job. Its not a price thing but just hard to find qualified persons. I am not saying that Thais are not good as they certainly are given that some houses and other buildings look great and are built great. Its just hard to find those kind of people as they have work enough and probably don't have to advertise.

iv been lucky. ,build.  house. ,Master thai builder. ,lot  wood. ,saw mill made on site. ,outstanding wood work ,tiler team. , husband. wife , very good ,better than europe. , fraction of the cost. ,electrics. ,nice finished.  ,job ,,          gone done on roof tiles fro  chang Mia. ,order terracotta   ,thats not what turned up. ,now replaced. with ceramics   ,fine. ,last longer than me. ,

If the Thai government actually believed that virus no longer exists In Thailand they would tell people to ditch the masks, forget the distancing and hand hygiene, open up nightclubs and sports events with no restrictions.

    They don't believe that.

    You shouldn't either.

Try Living in USA/UK/France /Spain  or Italy. ,, in the UK. Goverment  send old people from hospital  to OAP home and kill more people. ,the world has changed  never be the same. again. ,and the old saying come Back    ,STAY SAFE.  , for those that are not that young. ,first used start AIDS

As per usual with these government-concocted schemes.

So how will they distinguish between visiting tourists and foreign residents? Will I still have to automatically pay that embedded fee although I, a resident of some 30 years, hold a comprehensive first-class health insurance policy?

I travel very frequently for business (well, I used to before Covid). Does that mean I'll have to shoulder that compulsory fee each and every time I purchase a ticket, i.e. 12 - 15 times a year?

if. all your words are true. why worry. about 300bt.  ,not even price of meal.
