If by Basal you mean long acting (I assume so since you mention Lantus) options here are:
Glaritus (Indian manufacturer) -
Lantus
Toujeo
First will cost less
For rapid acting:
Actrapid HM
Insugen-R
Humulin-R
All 3 imported & expensive
So they have Toujeo? I was using it before switching over to Tresiba around 2 years ago which gives me much better blood sugar curves but I don't want to start a discussion regarding this as everyone is different.
And yes, Basal insulin is long acting (around 24hours) and Bolus is (ultra-) rapid acting during days to compensate food, drinks etc. with carbohydrates. Means if I don't eat and drink only water I could run with only Basal but that would kill me as well ????
Need both types of insulin.
-
I am Type-1, so that means I need Basal and also Bolus Insulin running a ICT treatment.
I can find Lantus, which is Basal insulin, but wondering what kind of fast acting insulin at what prices and what locations/pharmacies are around in Bangkok and the Eastern Seaboard.
Novorapid would be OK but currently I am quite happy with Fiasp as ultra-short acting insulin and Tresiba as Basalinsulin. Anyone on same medication here and has some input? I take no other drugs or have any other illness so those insulin's at a 'normal' price would be great and I do not really want to fly back to Europe every 3-6 months to pickup those from local German pharmacies and spend for the flight around 1000+USD plus housing, transport etc. So one trip back home which would cover, ideally, 6-months of free medicine in Europe would be 5 days and around 2000USD in cash.

Staying on eastern Seaboard with a rental car brought me to Mae Pim and Ban Phe coast as wanted to find some new places not willing to go to Koh Samet.
Yesterday and today at around 4p.m. I found a obviously new medium sized public bus stating the route between Pattaya and Ban Phe which would makes sense as I don't like Minibuses at all and would prefer that kind of public bus but...
This bus was parked opposite the Nuantip pier looked absolutely new but all people and vendors around only wanted to sell minibus tickets.
So I found the driver in his blue shirt sitting opposite at a small bus stating talking with the minibus mafia guys and asked him when 'his' bus is gonna leave to Pattaya and where to buy a ticket.
His answer simply was 'Mai loo' meaning I have no idea.
It seems to me that there is no information around about this service and where to on-/offboard in Pattaya.
Anyone got an idea??? I made some photos attached.
However I believe it's a typical Thai way to prevent

Your story illustrates what I said a while back in this thread. Few people at my age (63) can look back at themselves in their 30’s and could have predicted they would be where they are now. The math makes sense to use an Elite visa to bridge under 50 to over 50 but, as many have pointed out before me, don’t invest more in Thailand than you are willing to lose. Life changes. People change. Values can change. Change is the constant in life.
I absolutely agree with you!!!
Don't invest or spend more money than you are happy to loose in Thailand!
I am from Germany, travelling to Thailand since 18years and I am now in the mid 40s. Until 7-8 years ago I wanted to stay and live in TH but that changed a lot. I own a Condo, have Thai driving licenses and a bank account but never considered to get a Thailand Elite Visa.
Need to say that my Condo is in Pattay and it really depends on the location you spend or wanna spend as well of course. I don't stay with a Thai lady nor do I have a gf so for me the decision not returning would be easy however it is not.
So I made my decision to not invest or leave anything more than my Condo and motorbike over there and I can afford loosing that and my life still goes on. However the situation changed continuously since I travel there and I was also refused to reenter Thailand while leaving via land border to Lao being told only 2 land entries per Calendar Year are allowed. That was around 6 years ago I think and that seemed to have been a new regulation at this time. Hard to keep updated with that but if you wanna stay for longer than a yearly 30d tourist trip you have to be informed.
I was travelling around the world and didn't like it anywhere as much as in SEA however the situation in Cambodia has changed too much so I will not return anymore.
I am doing a lot of brain work but currently as long as the economy stays that strong and I work for US IT startups I take the money, make my job and come as a tourist.
As long as you control yourself, which imho is not that easy but is an requirement, and you do your maths make your life as much comfortable as you can. If you have to count every penny, which many foreigners in Thailand in the meantime with the bad currency conversion rate have to do, then I'd prefer to leave the door to get outside Thailand wide open.
Wishing everyone the best and be wise... you might get 110years old in best/worst (???) case ????

Needed to get my EU (German) driving license translated to Thai!
I was doing with an official approved German translator and got stamped at German consulate at the Thai Garden resort.
After that staff at DLT asking why I did use the consulate and not any cheap translation office...
I thought better get it done this way before sending me away.

I am doing Sous Vide and finishing with a pan or gas burner...however looking for the best, proper, steak and rib selection grocery store...

The IO TM30 website consists of 2 parts: Notification TM30 and Search TM30.
1. When you enter data in the Notification part, it is recommended to use the Excel-form for which you find a link on the web-page. The Excel-form also has several tabs with guidance on what to fill in (e.g. code for Nationality of guest / code for Entrance port to Thailand).
When you upload the filled-in Excel form the data does not appear in the main entry fields but appear at the bottom of your screen (scroll down).
As mentioned earlier, using the Excel-form to input your data has the advantage that you can re-use the filled-in Excel form later again when you return at your home from a domestic trip and so you do not need to input the data again. When returning from a trip abroad you only need to update the TM6 entrycard-number and the port of entrance if that was different as the one you used previously.
After you uploaded the Excel-file and the data appears at the bottom of the screen, click save.
And then the page will be empty again (but your data has been sent).
2. To check if the data is really there you can go to the Search part of the webpage.
Search is limited to periods of max 7 days apart, and you need to use thai date notation.
When your search results appear, you can then make a screenshot and keep that as proof that your filed your TM30.
> Hope this helps, and feel free to PM me if you encounter any difficulties.
Thanks a lot! Got it done and worked like a charm now!
I was doing the entries manually because using Google Chromebook and didn't want to create a Google Sheet out of the Excel template.
However I was using the Google translate to English while entering the details in Chrome and it set some of the values to faulty/misleading so I couldn't save. After disabling the Google translate on the TM30 form webpage all values were OK and I Could save the data and search for it as well.
Just installed the Section38 mobile Android App now and have the Search capabilities with me on my mobile to proof reports if checked.
Cheers!

The first person does not appear in the list below until you fix your error. The error message says that the enter date and exit date must not be more than seven days apart. Try correcting that. It doesn’t matter how long you are actually staying because it is a report not a prediction.
Sorry but I don't fully understand in terms of check-in and exit dates? What exactly do you mean?
In my case I entered Thailand on October 14th and staying at a hotel in Ranong until yesterday so check-in in my Condo was yesterday and I am planning to leave Thailand on 31st.

"Low" would be the 30mbar.
Your local LPG place (where you swap the bottles) should be able to set you up with the right regulator probably even for the 50mbar version.
Thanks mate!
Waiting for the next deal for the fridge and will get one...

Hello,
I registered to the TM30 online version as Condo owner in Pattay and can now login and add guests (like myself which I tried) but having an issue after adding the guest data and trying to save as all information is gone after clicking on "save" and then using the search of TM30 in the menu!?
What happens to the guest data and why is it not showing up after saving and using the search!? Anyone knows in detail what happens?

I'd go with the 30mbar unit then you'll have no issue with just getting a standard off-the shelf regulator.
Make sure the cooler you buy is set up for propane.
Thanks!
I found 3 different regulators at Makro looking around a bit.
One was 'high', the other one was 'low' and the third one seems to be adjustable?
All written in Thai so I couldn't really figure out which one would be 30mbar or 50mbar?
And the cooler is capable of propane:

I wanna bring a cooler box (Dometic Combicool RC1200 EPG) from Germany which is available in 2 variation with Gas (in addition to 220V and 12V) which I would like to use with gas.
I can get one with 30mbar and 50mbar whereas the 50mbar is cheaper.
In Germany we are not into gas but it seems that the 50mbar option is common for Germany but very uncommon outside???
What would be the best one to choose in order not to have searching around in Thailand to get the right tubes and gas pressure regulators?

Can anyone share the service intervals for the Aerox in Thailand please?
Mine is now around 2years and stays at my Condo in Pattaya but couldn't come back past year because of my job.
As far as I can remember I have done a service around 1k km and it has now run around 2500km as far as I can remember?
I think it should be worth changing motor oil anyway as it has stood around for a while. I disassembled the battery as I have a charger in my Condo so should still work I guess.

Personally I do not go to any islands in Thailand East anymore because it's everywhere the same if you ask me.
Here are my personal recommendations (might change as you know Thailand!!!):
Go to Mae Phim and check this beach: https://goo.gl/maps/TJcTQjTo6hu
It's near the Drift Bar and the Centara Q Resort Rayong. Small beach but has some beach restaurants and is really nice.
Another spot I personally really really like (you need a car/motorbike) but without direct beach access is nearby Ban Phe @Pak Klong. I can recommend the Rimlay Resort which has small houses for around 800-1000THB/day. From there you can just hang around Ban Phe or go some beaches direction of the above mentioned Mae Phim (long way but all beaches with multiple beach side restaurants, chairs etc.).
Also you can go West to further southern part of Rayong Beach and relax at the Laermya restaurant for example.Have a really nice drink and view to Samet Island from the Rayong Resort Hotel while going/coming back to/from Ban Phe (drive up the hill and see the fantastic hotel over there and sit in the Garden balcony). You can walk from the beach at the Rayong Resort hotel over to a Thai camping site (funny place) called 'Campsite.
Further down south it's really worth to stay in Trat for 1-3 nights (e.g. the fantastic Rimklong Boutique Hotel around 1000THB/night I think in the meantime), rent a car or get a driver and look around.
I was going all the beaches years ago because travelling to Sihanoukville and crossing the border (rip off) at Ban Had Lek dozens of times.
I remember some good places you can visit while working around going to Koh Chang, e.g. some navy beaches as well.
View the Koh Chang Island from the Ao Tan Beach where you can rent some rooms as well.
Have a beer and nice seafood at the Hat Ploy Dang Seafood and visit the beaches at Kao Lan Military Beach or near the Bancheun beach resort.
I leave the rest for now but decide what you like and enjoy so many nice places, I left Chantaburi because it's none of my favourites at all. However worth doing a roadtrip on the beach.

No, I have non-imm one year extension
@JRG23 Can you give a little advice for me? Especially when I can try to extend/renew my 2-year driving licenses for motorbike+car while the current ones expire on April 24th?
My 2-year driving license will expire on April 26th and I will return on a 30-day (same as I applied for my driving license) stamp tomorrow and would like to extend the driving license.
Obviously this is only possible for another 2-years as I am on the entry stamp but...
... I was reaching out to a local agency providing support for Thai driving licenses and they told me that I can only apply from 24th (day my current license expires) onwards!?
I do not want to go through all the stuff again but have all documents (residency letter, health check, international driving license, European driving license etc.) ready so I thought I can apply 3-months before the current license expires!?
Anything I am missing? Better to do myself I think but any recommendations for the 2-year renewal?

Upps... you make me some concerns now...
The Condo guy installed now a 2nd hand (1000,--THB) water heater (6KW) and a new tab for me which works pretty well. He put some splitter between the cold water pipe and the tab/water heater.
Is this secure? Works straight forward and obviously power is no issue as well as he took this from next kitchen door's oven.
-
Thank you guys! That was exactly what I was expecting.
In terms of water heater power... Is it really required to purchase a 6000w modell?
-
Hello,
I would like to have a hot+cold mixer tab in my Condos kitchen as currently it's just cold water with a single cold water pipe/connector in my kitchen.
I was at Homepro and they advice a 6000W water heater but I would need to ask in my Condo in advance for an additional warm water pipe as the cold one is not enough.
However the water heater would be around 6k and then I need some electric and water cables or pipes as well as a new tab.
I also wondering why I would need an additional warm water pipe before installation?
Any recommendations what to do and how to get this done?

Anyone can recommend logistics for Insulin with some prices?
I also currently on Fiasp from Novo Nordisk but I think this is not available within Thailand.
Considering to look into Indian pharmacies or so...

Just my thoughts as T1 Diabetics (living in Germany but staying a lot of time in Thailand):
-
switched from teststrips to Dexcom G5 (soon Dexcom G6) Continous Glucose Monitoring solution - For teststrips, 100pcs, around 20USD (Freestyle Lite which I was using) on Ebay Germany
- before I ordered teststrips from Ebay or Amazon where people sell original brand strips for 50-75% less (most of them got paid by their insurance and switch the measuring system so they sell for less. On Amazon cheap measuring systems are available)
-
Dexcom G5 is FANTASTIC (measures every 5mins and can be monitored on any Smartphone using 3rd party Apps like "xDrip+")
- for the G5 the sensors should, officially, last 7 days but can be extended unlimited (as long as you don't loose the plaster) using the 3rd party App xDrip+ on your Android Smartphone
- for the G5 the transmitter (which has the measruement and Bluetooth enabled) can be recycled with new batteries so can be extended from 90+ days (usually run with xDrip+ up2 130days!!!) unlimited as well (check Google on how to replace the G5 transmitter batteries and there are services around Europe which do that for 20EUR)
-
for the G5 sensors are also available on Ebay for sell so you pay around 100EUR/month for sensors+transmitter when you use xDrip+ and recycle the transmitter
Ebay Germany - Dexcom G5 sensors
So for measurement you have to pay but it depends what you want. You can get the cheapest teststrips on Ebay Europe and certainly have someone ship or bring those over to Thailand. Measurement systems are anyway for free because the companies want to sell their f*** overpriced teststrips.
If you care about your health then consider looking at rCGM solutions like the Dexcom G5/G6 which makes control and therefore your life much more easy! I have some transmitters around which I do not need because I am covered by insurance but if you want I can provide to you. Transmitters are also available on Ebay Europe.
For the insulin I am currently using Fiasp (faster than Novorapid and doesn't require any waiting time before eating after you injected the insulin). I love it!!! However probably hard to get in Thailand but...
Check in which European country (except Germany which has controlled and overpriced medical health care prices) you can buy and bring it over. Also when I was in Abu Dhabi 5 yrs ago I could walk-in to a pharmacy and just buy Novorapid for a few $$$ without any subscription. So when you stopover in Middle East get some ideas.
I would also be thankful for insulin advice because I do not want to switch away from Fiasp anymore!?
I am running xDrip with the G5 to measure my BG and then I use AndroidAPS (#wearenotwaiting) on my Android to run a Closed Loop solution with the Dana-RS insulin pump which works awsome. My Hba1c is around 5.5-6.0 and 95%+ of the measured BG levels are in within my target of 70-150mg/Dl!!! But this requires an insulin pump as well of course.
Lots of communities around Facebook and the Web if you are interested and it works (!!!!!!!!)
Also check other European countries, except Germany which is most expensive in pharmacies as they still hold rights to sell health products), like Poland to check local prices.

Hello,
I am running on 3bb VDSL in my Condo (View Talay 5C) since around 2+ years and just saw today that since a couple of months TOT offers Fibre (2500,--THB installation fee + fibre internet fees) connectivity in this Condo.
Wondering if someone can give me the best way to cancel my current 3bb VDS contract (office is located on Tepprasit) and cancel their monthly fees being automatically withdrawed from my Thai bank account.
Since the contract is running around 2 years already wondering if there is a cancellation notice period and/or fee for this or this should just work straight forward?
Any input from someone with tips on what to take care about here?

I also love BC as after couple of days in Pattaya I want to move ahead/away from the scene as I am always traveling alone and get bored of the street grab chats...
There are plenty of bars on BC strip, with room upstairs (still), and many new developments around but mostly very quiet during weekdays.
When you talk about "southern of sukhumvit, road can you please share some more details like place names and Soi numbers?
I mostly only stay at the Cangsofa or Camel pub so would like to know more about the "southern outskirts"...

No problem at all...lost one last year and the immigration officer at the airport at departure just gave me a new blank form...
