Fantastic information. Hopefully will be able to return late 2021.

Due to Co-Vid lockdowns in Melbourne and restrictions not allowing us to get back to Thailand I've decided to keep myself busy by having yet another crack at learning to read and write in Thai. Note my spoken is very good. I did learn at AUa some 25 years ago however we used a phonetic system instead of the Thai Sanscript. If anyone has a great online course or any other method I'd love to hear from you. Thanks in Advance

Greetings. My initial two year motorbike and Car driving licenses are due to expire and must be renewed in January 2021. Due to Travel restrictions, my being in Melbourne and very little likelihood of our Government allowing travel back to Thailand before then can anyone tell me if there will be some extensions given for expired licenses? Is anyone in a similar position to me. Note I do have a pink ID card and yellow house book as well. Not sure if this helps or not. Thanks in advance.

apologies slightly off topic.
How much deposited in Thai Bank required before applying for this long stay visa? 2. Recently my SCB bank was closed to to inactivity. At attempting to re-open the bank asked for a work Visa (tourist would not suffice to open an account). If this is the case now how could anyone with a tourist Visa apply to extend to a Long Stay Visa? Must I apply for a work Visa first?

Well, I'm still no clearer on the matter of whether the Notary needs authenticating beyond having my 2 documents notfied. As I pointed out in my previous post, when one applicant was questioned about the authenticity of the Notary at the London Thai Embassy he was dumbfounded. I've waded through ancient posts on this site and some here claim that that wasn't required when they went along for an O-A Visa, or it wasn't stated. I'm hoping that is still the case, but I am slightly worried I might be confronted with the same question at the Embassy.
One website says this:
In some cases, the document will require the Notary’s signature and seal to be legalised. This process means that the document signed and sealed by the Notary is submitted to and a further certificate is affixed to the document by the state in which the Notary practices; in the UK, it is the Foreign & Commonwealth Office which fulfils this role. This further certificate will be a document called an “Apostille” that is attached to your document and bears the imprint of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. This certificate confirms the authenticity of the Notary’s signature and seal and therefore their qualifications. It is attached under the terms of the Hague Convention 1961.
Now, I don't know whether this is more about sending documents abroad rather than having them processed here in the UK.
I'm also confused with what the Notary has to do. Does he copy my original documents and bind the copies, and it's these copies I take to the Thai Embassy (and I keep my original documents) OR does he bind and notify the orginal documents and it's the orginal documents that I take to the Embassy? Does anyone know?

Women are much too good for you obviously. Hopefully they would see through you quickly, straight to your wallet and then leave asap.

Tough. It's tough. You know the same thing could be said for some farang relationships. A lot must be good.10 years and 2 kids. I say well done. Perhaps it's lost the mojo? If this stops it's tough to continue. Don't be hard on yourself ป. Just move on. Tell her what yu think.

Possibly a misunderstanding? We're there any add ons and how do you know what "everyone else" pays. My advice is to chill and just go with it. Change shops is what it's all about.

It's real . My good friend from Chiangmai still believes she's possessed. Long story . I think she has a mild case of un diagnosed epilepsy .

Doesn't matter if it's true or not - I rather liked it.

Correct! Everyone is different. Not to be painted with same brush as you say. My immediate thoughts are that you have underestimated some strong cultural links that still exist in Thai Society. Yes it may all be easier in New York but generally speaking the rewards are far greater here so long as the intentions are pure.
Not to worry! Some relationships suck and just don't work out. Move on and try not to align the problem to any specific reason as you seem to be. Nothing wrong with either of you apart from a little bitterness. This will wear off in time.

Good morning from Chiang Mai,
I.m 54. On going issue for 18 months. Without boring anyone will cut to the chase?
1. MRI says slight bulge disk 3/4 however specialist in australia and Lanna Chiangmai advise not likely the cause.
2. X-ray clear. Normal wear and tear.
3. Have exhausted the medicos in Melbourne and on a long wait list for pain management.
Symptoms
Pain is at it's worst whilst horizontal. Walking and running GREAT. Table tennis not even a twinge? I run in the Chiang Khian area, front of Chiangmai Uni if anyone wants a running partner.
After a good nights sleep wake up to sheer agony, very similar to piriformis syndrome symptoms. Walking or moving for 30 minutes relieves the pain. It's as if a nerve is trapped in the buttock or hip area.
Sacroiliac joint clear at MRI. My Specialist still suspects this could be the issue.
Tried pain killing injections and countless anti inflammatory drugs.
Am currently on Lyrica and while the horizontal pain remains with avengeance , I feel a hell of a lot more positive.
Can anyone help? Is there anyone out there experiencing similar issue? Any recommendations of a specialist in Chiangmai. Specialising in nerve entrapment?
All for now

OK, Take any advice received here with a grain of salt including some assumptions you made in your question. Everybody here is well intentioned but inevitably they are stating opinion and outcomes based on their circumstance, not yours. My advise ? Research the best Family lawyer in your area, the first consultation will be free and you'll be enlightened to all your options and possibilities. There will be loads of precedents for people that have found themselves in the same situation. Importantly your name is on the Child's Birth Certificate. Review all the LINE and Facebook conversations you have had with the Mother and save them if favourable to your cause. You need to be able to prove contribution as a Father up to the time she left. This is all admissible in Court. Your Lawyer may subpoena her to Court for hearing before a judge.
