  1. as a tentacle to this thread, try reading "lords of the rim" by stirling seagrave, this book is real piece of research on the spread of the expat chinese, with some very in-depth info regarding the chinese here in thailand, naming names , all the juicy stuff. it reads like fiction buut no one has ever tried to contradict his information, although he has had many threats against him. can find the book at any asia books or bookazine, you wont put it down !

  2. i counted forteen falangs in tesco-lotus when i was last in roi-et, just in one visit, the city is realy beautiful, the lake has millions of huge fish that people go to feed every day, also you see people jogging around the lake, the white elephant has great falang food and the owner (swiss, i think )is very pleasant guy. i stayed at the city hotel and the other one , with a pool, both quite ok, awful american breakfasts, but i forgive them that !! i built a small two bed house for my mother-in-law on a small plot for 500,000 bht. a decent 3 bed place would cost 1-1.5 million. lots of beer places, discos, bars, but the clientel is very thai and not too many people speak english, unless they,ve worked in bangkok. all in all a very nice place to be, i,m thinking of moving up there full time in the near future.

  3. i have posted before re the ownership of this airline as a friend of mine was instrumental in setting it all up to move gamblers in and out of the andaman club , but was then booted out when questions on maintainance costs became loud, the ownership wanting to cut costs to a minimum as per thai style, the man is a senator so it will be difficult to pin anything on him, but this is just what phuket needs after the tsunami, when the tabloid reading public get faced with the headlines of " phuket " unsafe, as they wont bother to read that the airline has nothing to do with phuket but the mud will stick. sad really.

  4. i think it depends on where you are, the market in bkk may be nearing top-out except the realy high end , but in pattaya, particularly jomtien, its climbing ever higher, especially with all the new mega-projects being started or in the planning stage. there are two areas that seem to be under supplied at the moment, 1 the apartment market for thais, white collar workers and the high price end condos and houses.the so-called bubbles never seem to affect the extreme ends of the market--- But THIS IS THAILAND , AND WHO THE ###### KNOWS WHAT COULD HAPPEN !!!

  5. if she,s been separated from the thai tosser more than 3 yrs she should be able to get a divorce without his approval, however , as he knows she has a walking atm at her side now , he will plead that he loves her and the kids and never wanted to part in the first place, get a good thai lawyer. i,ve recommended my lawyer before, wichai pannoi, 019140516, he,l scare the thai guy shitless, and if you have to shoot the tosser, he,l probarbly get you off with a fine !!!!!!

  6. this airline is owned by a thai senator, khun vikrom, he set it up to take gamblers to his casino , andaman club off the coast of ranong. a british woman, vicky gregory set the whole thing up and was then pushed out because he insisted he could save money on the maintainance costs . nothing will happen to him because hes a senator and you cant impune the " honour of a thai senator" it will damage the good name of the country !!!

  7. the sheer hypocracy of thai govt officials beggars belief, i remember a ploice major general who told the press that there was NO prostitution in thailand, how could there be "its illegal", no doubt he then whisked off in his merc to the nearest massage parlour for a "committee" meeting ! tit.
