So there are loads of chinese illegal guides working in phuket. There are also load of thai illegal guides for chinese working in phuket.

The number of chinese tourists has doubled since last year.

Maybe one day the Phuket governor will get the drift that he should raise the cap on legal guides

I didn't say it was an educated job, I said it was a job for an educated thai. Even the bimbos who are showing condo projects in the malls are required to have a university degree (with a barely better salary than a waitress or a maid).

After a few years experience, she can hope to reach 15K plus some yearly bonus.

Ok, some small business owners like noodle soup vendors can get a decent revenue, but the vas majority of jobs, even for educated thais, are paid peanuts. Of course most thais are flat broke at the end of the month.

I'm with Valentine, unbelievable that they negotiate a contract this time of year. Get a brain and set the negotiations plus new contracts January 1-January 1 every year.

Then if there is a beef at least the ocean is just a big pool as opposed to wave pool.

To forget to renew the contract once is "understandable" but to repeat the same mistake year after year is borderline criminal. One has to wonder what is the IQ of the people behind it...

So a guy wants to help some friends with their english. To do that legally, he has to create a non profit organization first and then apply for a work permit

A retired condo owner wants to sit on his condo commitee. To do that legally, he has to cancel his retirement visa, create a phony company, give fake employment to 4 thais, then get a business visa, and finally apply for a work permit

As for online workers, they have to obtain a business visa which is impossible to do without providing fake documents, then hope that they will obtain the super rare and basically unheard of 'freelance work permit'

The answer from phuket officials are so ridiculous. The problem is I'm not even sure they realize how stupid they sound. Well, it's not their fault that the laws are retarded...

On a side note, I liked that when a guy complained that Khun Boy was unwilling to assist him, the answer he got was to contact Khun Boy.
