  1. Hello,

I have a question about the line on the form that asks about "kind of visa". She got a 30 day exemption stamp when she arrived in BKK and wants to extend for another 30 days. I am just not sure what to put and any examples I found on the net didn't help. I have also read that the copies of her arrival stamp, passport info page and TM6 need to be signed and have a phone number. Some posts say yes, others have not said anything about it. I just want to make sure the paperwork is filled out properly. Appreciate any insights. Thanks.

  2. I had thought that the IO was mistaken but spoke to the agency that had done her extension. They told me that for the 2018-2019 year the extension of stay for a single entry not ME. I found the stamp that shows the non-re and the until date was smudged but was told by the agency that it was until Feb 20 this year. The extension of stay started from then but she did not get a re-entry permit before she left Thailand. Her mistake I know but I am trying to figure what would be the best way for her to stay for the next three months and have a multi entry. Sorry for the confusion, I am very new to Thailand's visa structure.

  3. Hello,

She is an American and had for her first year an OA visa (retirement) and then the next year got an extension of stay. I have her passport and the stamp says Non-Re. When she left BKK she had an extension of stay. She does have thirty days before she needs to leave the country. Would the O visa allow her to enter/exit or does she need to get a re-entry permit. If she needed to do another 30 day visa exempt entry I am assuming she would need to leave the country. If she decided to apply for a 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) does the 800,000 need to be in the bank for a certain time or once the account shows the 800,000 she can apply for the visa.

I am trying to see what the easiest way would be for her to stay in BKK until the end of Aug but she would be allowed to exit/enter the country a few times during the next few months. If I am understanding the information, she can not extend visa exempt entry, she can only get another exempt entry. Thank you so much for your help and hopefully my terminology is better.

  4. Hello,

I apologize if my terminology is incorrect but here is the problem. My sister had a ME retirement visa and then she thought it was renewed / extended for another year (also mutli entry) but it was for single entry only. When she came back into BKK she had get a VOA. My questions are can she extended the VOA and for how long. Can she do another retirement visa. If she has to leave the country in 30 days, will she be allowed another VOA or will she be denied. Sorry if this has been covered before but I am finding different answers and want to make sure I have the correct information. Thank you.

  5. Hello,

I am hoping someone can clarify my import permit question. Is it required when taking the pet in cabin from the US? I have submitted my import permit request three weeks ago and have not heard back from [email protected]. I have contacted them several times but have not received any response. Since I am flying out next week, I am getting nervous that I will have issues coming back with the dog. My airline does not require a permit nor do I need one for the transit country. I read through the Importing a pet into Thailand link and could not find a definitive answer. Someone posted that you did not need a permit for an in cabin pet, yet other posts indicted they got an import permit for an in cabin pet. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

  6. I was wondering what the turnaround time is for an import permit? I checked the topic about importing a pet and the last mention about a permit was over a year ago. I know that the request must be submitted at least 15 days prior and have read that it can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. I wanted to see if anyone had any recent experience with the process and time-frame. Thanks.

  7. I will be importing a small dog into Thailand at the end of August and have a question in regards to landing in Bangkok and getting the dog through the airport. I have all of the information about what paperwork is required and the process of obtaining an import permit.  Should I have someone in Thailand handle submitting the paperwork for the import permit. I am able to have the dog travel in cabin with me and didn't know if it would be easier to have someone meet me at the airport to assist me if any issues occur. I don't even know if there is a company that provides this service. Just trying to cover all of my bases. Hope my question make sense. Thanks in advance.

  8. Hello,

Any assistance with this problem would be greatly appreciated. I sent a package from the US to Bangkok via USPS. According to their website, the package departed a transfer airport in Bangkok. That update was four business days ago. When I check the Thailand post site, it says item not found. Has anyone had this issue before? Any suggestions? I have sent packages before so I know the address / contact information is correct. Thanks in advance.

  9. I am hoping someone has a recommendation on a place that does document binding and color printing. I requested information from an Office Mate and never heard back from them. I tried a search and most places only handle large corporate orders. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

  10. Hello,

I am hoping someone can help with this issue. The petitioner lives in California and is trying to serve divorce papers to the respondent, who lives in Bangkok. The petitioner is filing w/out an attorney and is not sure what is required by Thailand in order to serve the documents. The respondent has a thai attorney and they are not sure what is required by the US. I contacted the US embassy and they directed me to the list of attorneys. The courts in the US have not been helpful either. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

  11. I will be applying for an ED visa before leaving for Thailand and was wondering about immigration and the departure information. I will be staying for eighteen months and will not be able to book a departure flight until later in the year. Because foreigners can stay in LOS for several years with an ED visa, will the lack of a return flight be an issue when I arrive? Thanks.

  12. I went to the Boston Thai consulate last year to get my multi entry visa. The best advice I can give is this: Do not just show up at the consulate, call and make an appointment. You should be able to get one w/in a week of calling. Once there it took me less than 10 mins to pay the fee and get the stamp. Here is the link http://www.thaiconsulatebos.org/ The website only contains the address & number so do not be alarmed. I can not stress enough getting an appointment - a gentlemen did a walk-in hoping to get a visa stamp. The secretary denied him and said "I would not show up at your work place unannounced expecting assistance" Hope this helps.

  13. I will be going to school in Bangkok for over a year and am planning on getting my ED visa before I arrive. Would I need a multi or single entry visa? I will be attending school for one year and then another for a few months - both are MOE approved. Do I need to leave the country to get the second ED visa or can my original visa be extended while in Thailand? Thanks.

  14. I am planning on living in BKK for approx 16 months and have a few questions in regards to my visa. I know a multi entry visa would allow me to stay for 9 months but am not sure if I can extend it further? I will be going to school here and could apply for an ED visa but since I will only be attending for 2-3 months, I wasn't sure if an ED visa would cover my entire stay. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
