Myanmar quarantine is 3 weeks as early on they had a case with symptoms after 2 weeks with a confirmed transmission. It was initially 2 weeks then they increased the quarantine period.
but of course could be Thailand - I agree no testing = low numbers. I think Thailand spiked way back in Jan feb. know a guy who was in hospital back then and there was a surge in pneumonia with people on beds in corridor there wax that many.
makes sense with all the movement of the Chinese in and out around then.

How are “French tourists” getting In and not retirees?
maybe she caught on plane. Repatriating Thais are not tested prior to flight unlike d- farang and sit packed together on plane. Ridiculous as it is.
not good for the future this.

Doesn't really matter if the bloke was in the wrong at this stage it is immaterial. Internationally it looks like he was threatened with jail and would say/do anything to get out of it. I mean who wouldn't!
More great publicity.

Thais are being allowed to return with no CV test (only a fit to fly cert) hence the numbers returning with virus. But if your a farang with a family and want to return to them, then you need a CV test no more than 72 hrs before travel.

I'm sure there are people who regret buying a TE visa but I am not among them and I have never met a holder of one online or in person who does. People say things like oh it's just a tourist visa, it's too expensive. But if those things bother anyone than they must've been expecting something that it is is not. For me it meets all my needs perfectly including being cost effective for my personal goals. In a perfect world there would've been more options for me and my wife to stay in Thailand but it is not a perfect world so I am satisfied with the TE visa with no regrets.
I don't regret buying it as its a hassle free option for under 50's but lets not get into that argument.... However, as a TE member, this does seem is simply an ill timed marketing ploy, and a slap in the face for any current members like myself trying to return to Thailand - so far they have been of zero help, zero, and even seem to be behind with information readily available from immigration.
Therefore, I've applied/registered direct with the Thai embassy. I have Thai dependent. What remains to be seen is whether the TE visa adds weight to my case for reentry?

I suspect most jump through the yearly immigrant hoops be they retirement or spouse based extensions or there of.
unless you hold PR you entry/existence here is only temporary.
If you don't work in Thailand, you'll never qualify for a PR.
Most developed countries would recognise having a spouse or dependent in a country grounds for PR.
24 minutes ago, Don Mega said:many of these "foreigners" that call Thailand home are offshore oil and gas workers and their shifts are structured to allow them to exploit the visa exempt entry that Thailand immigration allows.
On paper they are nothing more than short term tourists.
Wrong! Coming in and out on a 30 days stamp working offshore used to be possible many years ago but not under the current immigration rules. People doing this now are on marriage, dependent visas or even paying for the privileged via Thailand Elite.

A real family man gets a job that can provide best for his family, generally for expats that's not in Thailand where salaries are low. People working in Oil and gas for instance. Our money been building houses and supporting the Thai economy for decades pal.

Why should the Thai government pay the bills for a non citizens quarantine ?
Not suggesting that they do. There was an article a couple of days ago for VIP quarantine. Hotel, tests inclusive package.
If a Thai can do that then why not a farang with family? what's the difference if will to pay.

I believe the expression is catching daggers. No thanks.

What about expats with families in Thailand who make their primary residence in Thailand - stuck abroad for work and cannot return home? My situation.
Had enough of this country not recongnising people with families in the proper fashion. All the hoops you have to jump thru to get a visa, especially if you are not married. I've got a kid there and have supported the economy for 17 years, invested money etc. Why shouldn't I get a residency permit on the basis I am father of, and supporting a Thai national. Last straw for me.
We should start making Thais in the UK do a border run to France every 90 days.

Hi Crossy / Joe,
Yeah that is what I was thinking. I won't bother wasting my time, I imagine only needed for longer stays/renewals.
As far as I am concerned they have been informed of the address on the arrival card. Pleading ignorance otherwise.
Thanks very much for the advice.

Hank

Hi,
Quick one. I have a relative just arrived for 3 weeks on a tourist visa and will be staying at my house.
Do I need to go to immigration and fill out a TM30 for them?
They wrote my address on TM6 arrival card. Will that suffice for a 3 week trip having informed them of the address there?

Hank

I love the disguise but why so upset? She was looking to embezzle his inheritance out of him long term and got her fingers burnt. Ha.
More news to put the farang in bad light when it's surely a Nigerian. If not, we got one back for the team. This pales into insignificance compared to the money and assets Thai woman have tricked western men out of over the years. They are literally world renowned for it!
Som Nam Na

Now this can be confusing, e.g. I occupy a property with my wife, so in part, I occupy it, as she does, she owns the place as farangs cannot own land in Thailand, so where does that put me, e.g. is it my responsibility to report to immigration when I return from a domestic or international absence from where I normally reside or my wife's responsibility, or is it both of our responsibilities to do a TM30, i.e. one for me and one for her ?
Do you see the confusion in your reply ?
Just needing to clarify this, the TM28 is out the window, got it, thanks ????
I'm no expert but I would say it is your wife's responsibility being owner and housemaster in the Blue book.
Farang might not be able to own land outright but they can 'own' a Thai Company (or at least own 49% of shares, be the Director with all the voting rights). So in my case, I have no Thai involved?
And before some start saying Blah oh that's not legal etc - It's immigration, not the fraud squad. They aren't about to shut down foreigners owning property via Thai Companies even tho every couple of years it is mentioned.

To add to the confusion (of this whole mess) I was told by my visa assistant that I only have to lodge if I change address or travel within country. I was told that if I travel outside the country I dont have to complete it as I return to the same address. I would have thought this made more sense if the purpose is to track our movements within country. Seems a typical level of confusion and miscommunication!
Jimbo I think you need a new visa agent. Best to check yourself at immigration. Seems they are rapidly changing the rules and many have had different experiences depending on which office they go to.

This might clear it up for you, from what I have read, if you are the owner of the property, it's the TM30, if you are not the owner of the property, it's the TM28, on top of that, the owner of the property, i.e. the landlord has to file the TM30.
Wasn't it confucius that once said, it doesn't take much to confuse us ?
I'm the owner of the property like I said ridiculous to report yourself by yourself. You write your name twice basically. I don't have a wife and never heard of a TM28 sorry can't help you there.

There is only one good thing about Phuket Immigration and thats the drive through window. If you think a 90 day report needs to get easier than that you must be used to having grapes hand fed. The I/O they stuff in that box will even hand update your address notification with no accompanying paperwork, or she did for me twice at least. If the whole Phuket office ran as efficiently as the drive up window I might not have moved out of that hell hole.
Sweet. Well Jomtien hasn't aspired to those heights just yet. But 90 days reporting there has only ever taken me literally minutes. Only once I had to wait 5 as I think the guy on the desk had gone for a number 2. lol

Just a question. In every thread on TV where people are sharing their experiences about filing a TM30, don't most of them mean a TM28? I assume they're not all landlords?
I admit to being confused still. I have a house/blue book (so am non-Thai property owner) and when I went to Immigration they didn't manage to clarify for me.
Yip. I'm in the same position - very clearly they said it was a TM30

i also opted for the Thai Elite for 5 years, we had a retirement visa but Immigration started to stuff around with my wife's visa which had been done correctly for the past 10 years so i told them to stuff it and i bought TE 5 years for her and once saw how effective it was and no need to deal with Immigration at least for another 5 years i also took TE. i know its not for everyone due to the cost but its takes a lot of headaches away dealing with these people. there are savings involved for various things let alone yearly visa fees and then having to employ our lawyers to submit at a substantial cost as it seems if some legal does it they dont hassle them unlike us chopping and changing documents required. now lets just hope they scrap the TM30 reporting as this seems absolutely ridiculous hopefully the European pressure put on the thais now and all the bad press about TM30 they will change mind and drop it... then please also make the 90 days reporting more user friendly and not having to use old computers with Internet Explorer to sign in i read they are supposingly putting out an app we can use on our mobiles to do this. please hurry up with it..
I am totally with you brother. No regrets on TL - money well spent. Some people scoff when I tell them. "What, 500k!!" But that's 100k a year. How much would a person of my age be spending on visa trips to Loas/Cambodia etc ramming up <deleted> in your passport? Together with the value you put on your time and effort psssing about. I also think it DOES give some preferential treatment because straight off the bat they know you're not some joker, you're playing by the rules (good guys in). They love it. It's a one off for me to get me to 50 but I have no regrets.
Plus you have the added benefit of straight through the priority lane at BKK every time, picked up by very delightful young ladies on your return and electric car to immigration business class counter - bosh.
Oh and 24 limo taxi's to and from BKK, if it's to Pattaya it's 1900B for a limo.
41 minutes ago, 4MyEgo said:I can only speak from my own experience and what others have posted here on TVF.
My immigration office confirmed that every time I go out of my province and stay for more than 24 hours, I (my wife), being my landlady has to submit a TM30 report.
They told us to apply online for a password which she did and she got it a week alter with their assistance as the application is forwarded to them online as they have all of my records.
As we are heading overseas soon, we were also told when we return to our province, we must log in and report online, so for me, it's everytime I out out of my province, regardless if its domestic or international, the TM6 has nothing to do with the TM30, with the TM6 recently reported to be scrapped if you can believe anything you hear from these guys.
On the final stretch, I have heard that other officers are relaxed about the TM30, e.g. no need for domestic, but then again I have also read that, and someone coming back from the same office saying the opposite, so if they tell you no need, request it in writing for safe keeping because if things change, you will be the one paying the fine.
I have the extension based on being married to a Thai, and I think it makes no difference to the type of extension/visa you have.
Hope you get some kind of clarification from your immigration office real soon now.
Yeah it wasn't just Fab 103 FM I heard this about every time you leave the province business. Amazing Thailand - rules seem to be 'up to them.'
I think the pressure is mounting - we'll see where this goes I guess. Thanks for your input.

hank

Jinthing - Cool. They need to get their ducks in a row don't they and make it clear to all - typical though for Thailand. I heard on Fabulous 103 FM the other day clear it was every time after leaving your province.
I don't mind doing it when entering the country if those are the rules then so be it. It is not much of a hassle really. Every time you leave the province to return to your own house is ridiculous.
Jacko45k - I must have got away with it then it would be a pain to get the house docs from lawyer everytime. Proceed until apprehended comes to mind.

In August I went to immigration in Jomtien and renewed my visa for another year. I'm not at retirement age yet. I have opted for the 5 year Thailand Elite visa. This visa has turned out to very cost effecting imo and saved me a load of hassle.
To renew the visa I had to do the TM30 for the first time. No issue. I've got a house in company name, no Thai master of the house, so I reported myself by myself and they seemed to be happy with just the blue house book. No chanoote or company papers asked for. Silly isn't it!
After that I went on 10 day break with my kid to an island. I was under the impression if you left the province when you came back you had to do another TM30. Being that the hotel I stayed at should of reported me at their local immigration while staying with them.
I went back to Jomtien on my return and they said I didn't have to do it again - it is only if I leave the country.
Am I getting preferential treatment because of the Thailand Elite visa? Have I got it wrong? Or do they pick and choose the rules.
Regards,
Hank.

Hi All,
Going through a separation with a real nasty piece of work. One kid involved.
Could anyone please recommend me a good (if there is such a thing) family lawyer in the Pattaya area.
I'd also be interested in hearing any companies to avoid.
Any good/bad experiences with family lawyers in Pattaya.
Regards,
Henry.
