  1. Good day to all.

I should be a First TImer this july 2016. I plan to fly BKK--HCMC.. I would like to spend 3-4 days in HCM city and then 2-3 days outside HCM city.

What to see / do in HCMC ? Where to stay ( 3 star hotels) in HCMC ? How is HCMC airport ?

Where to go outside HCMC for 2-3 days ?

I have read this topic and taken some notes and then of course i will google as much as possible

BUT there is NOTHING like Your Recent Visit to Vietnam to provide an up-to-date picture. Please share your experience.

    Thanks have a nice day/evening.

  2. If you have a one year multiple entry NON IMMIGRANT O-A visa that will

    expire October 25 th 2015..
AND If for example you leave Thailand on October 20 th 2015 and re-enter Thailand on
October 24 th 2015.. you would get another one year visa running until
    October 23 rd 2016..
    Is this correct ??
During that SECOND year October 24 th 2015 to October 23 rd 2016 are you allowed
to exit Thailand ? Can you get a multiple entry visa ?? OR is it that if you
leave Thailand during that period you visa will be void ????
    Thanks all..

  4. DEFINATELY NOT A PASSION FRUIT... I eat passion fruit daily. Eggplant no....

This morning as suggested i cut it open. I could not cut it with a steak knife i had to use a cleaver to slice it.

It s very HARD ( probably not ripe ) the inside is very grainy..

    Thanks to all,,,

  5. I picked up this fruit this afternoon in a park in Isaan. It s roundish 5-6 cm X 5-6 cm, green pigmented.. When it is detached from the tree a liquid similar to milk comes out.. I have been told that maybe in Thai it is pronunced something like << twaa --- thaw >>.

Apparently it s from China and the legend says that it was given by an ANGEL for doing good deeds.

Anyone knows the correct English and Thai names of this fruit.. If you know the Thai name please provide the correct spelling-Thai script.

    Thanks to all... Much appreciated.

  6. Good day .. I am preparing the 90 day reporting form TM.47 for the first time.

On the form TM.47 they ask for ARRIVAL CARD NUMBER.. My past experience has always been that the immigration officer in BKK

or in Nong Khai keeps the ARRIVAL CARD and staples the DEPARTURE CARD in your passport . I have the DEPARTURE CARD but

NO ARRIVAL CARD... What to do ???? PLEASE advice.. Thanks.

  7. I live in Isaan in a typical Thai house, .. concrete walls, steel roof structure, , roof made of << concrete >> tiles.

No insulation at all. In the room we have the usual suspended ceiling.. The room gets very warm ( hot).. i am looking for ways to cool the room without using AC .. ( pointless to use AC without any insulation >>..

Q1- Would replacing a few suspended ceiling tile with a mosquito screen help ? The air would flow from the room to the roof area.

Q2- How about installing a roof vent to extract the warm air from under the roof ? As anyone seen any roof vent in Thailand ? If yess where ? Are they efficient ?

Q3-- I know some people install insulation mat ( mattress ) over the suspended ceiling, but i could not find anyone who has done it ..to ascertain if this is a viable solution.

Q4 -- Suggestions, recommendations, pictures are welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

  8. Neighbour's dogs...

The next door neighbour has 3 dogs, they bark at anything moving, cars,

people, cats, other dogs,ETC day and night...

    .

These neighbours dont seem to understand that it might bother others.

    So my question is this:

<< Is there any gadgets, electronic devices, any solutions, etc that will keep the dogs quiet ?>>

    Thanks. in advance.

  9. I have read in many places that we should avoid drinking tap water in Thailand.

In my TGF s house they have a water filtrering system at the back of the house.

They bottle this FILTERED water and use it for all purposes, making coffee, drinking, etc..

How safe are these filter systems ? Does any particular filter system produces better quality drinking water ?

Any suggestions ? Thanks to all.

  10. Next year i will need to transfer money from my  Canadian bank account into my Thai bank account in order to extend my stay in Thailand.

( the 800 000 baht question) i have talked to few banks and they either have a very low daily  transfer limit or outrageous fees or both..

Is there any easy and cheap way to transfer money from Canada to Thailand ?

    Thanks to all..

  11. Good day to all.

When applying for an O-A Temporary Residents visa ( 1 year ) at your local Thai Embassy, do you need to show proof of a RETURN plane ticket or will a ONE WAY plane ticket be acceptable ? How easy is it to purchase a return ticket for a return a year later ?

    Your help is greatly appreciated

  12. Good day

I intend to apply for a 1 year retirement visa in early 2015 in Udonthani.

I have money in my Canadian bank retirement ( RRSP ) account, which I would not like to withdraw at this time due to the fiscal implications. I would go live with my TGF so she would provide a residence address for me.

My question is this: Will the Udonthani immigration office accept a letter from my Canadian bank stating that I have an X amount in my account , the X amount is much greater than the 800 000 baht requirement ? Has anyone recently used this approach ?

    Please share your experience …

Any link to the official immigration web site ?

In Udonthani how do they call the << retirement visa >> ?

    Thanks to all ..

  13. BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR REPAIRS

I had a Microlife BP 3AQ1 blood pressure monitor, worked flawlessly for about a year, then stopped reading.. I needed a place to repair/replace it..

The unit had been purchased at Makro Udonthani… On the original box they had the name of the distributor. (Samaphan Health Co.,Ltd. ) in BKK . I emailed them and the very next day I had a reply from Miss Nattida Winaikulnirat , instructing me to return the unit.. She then asked for 100 Baht for return postage.

This morning ( April 22nd 2014 ) I got my Microlife BPM , cleaned and with a new arm band, free of charge, within 3 weeks, despite being SONGKRAN… Great..

Ms Nattida Winaikulnirat services were excellent...

Hope this info can be useful….
