  1. Retirement extension using 800k 3 month seasoned already. Extending your visa this month february before march 1st.

Today i went to immigration n a few visa agents trying to get an answer only to be told 4 different things.

The question i had was im extending my retirement visa before march 1st using 800k in bank 3 months. Once my extension is approved do i have access to the 800k.

    1. immigration. Unfortunately i really do not know if my question was answered clearly because the girl was already telling me an answer before i finished the question. Her answer was i have access immediatley but can not go below 400k.

    2. Visa agent #1. I have access to the 800k immediately n the following year need to have 800k 3 months seasoned before renewal again.

    3. Visa agent #2. I have access to the 800k but was not sure.

    4. Visa agent #3. I do not have access to the 800k for 3 months after the extension is approved n not below 400k for the remainder even before march 1st.

Has anyone done an extension this february at jomtien/pattaya immigration on their own using the 800k 3 month seasoning for retirement extension. If so what did immigration say per using the 800k after being approved.

    Your thoughts

    1. Retirement extension. My extension is due march 15 2019. If i do the extension before march 1st. Will i have to season the money for another 3 months n also not fall below the 400k? Or will i be exempt from the rules regarding?

    2. Why do you say not show 800k if using marriage extension?

    3. Back to question 1. If you are required to show your 800k is still being seasoned for 3 months after the extension n you are out the country at that time. ?

    Thank you kindly

  3. hello,

my gf has completed online application (tourist visa) and gotten most her documentation done. one question that we have is.

we have not paid the visa fee yet.

what we are wondering is once you pay the visa fee how soon do you have to make the interview appointment?

for example if we pay the fee now are we able to make the interview appointment for october 2014?

    thank you kindly

  4. Should you be involved in the process? I'd say, yes, given that you are pretty much established here with a "Retirement Extension" for some time. That's important.

Apartment? Got a lease on it, preferably in your name?

Got a bank account? Long time?

Check out some other threads her re tourist visas for the U.S.

Totally spot on.Your G/F has to prove (not you) why she will not stay in the USA. You do become a very serious part of the prof. What are your reasons for returning to Thailand ?

there is really no specific reason. i like living here and made it my home when not working.

    have all of the above.

    thanks

  6. hoping to get some good info, advice, or maybe someone in the same situation i have.

    brief scenerio

my gf and i have been talking about her going to the USA for a short holiday and marriage. we have been together for almost 3 years. have lots of documentation, photos, ect.

we both have no desire to live in the states.

she has been employed with the same company for over ten years with a monthly paycheck. she does ok and does not need outside support. she has built a home for herself and her family but the home is not in her name. its with her family (grandmother) how i understand it from her explaining. has a ten year old son. her company has given her permission with a leave of abscence for 30days and upon returning will hold the same position. she has money in her account less then 100k (she can build that up as she is applying). most all her money has been going to her house the last two years which is completed.

i have been living in thailand for 10 years 8-9 months each year and returning to the states for seasonal work 3 months each year. i will continue doing this for about 5 more years. i have a retirement visa for the last 3 years. before i had to do tourist visas because of being under 50. i dont own any type of property. been renting the same place for over 3 years. i can document for the last ten years.

i have been reading and asking advice about what type of visa. have gotten and received great info from some members here on the k1 and cr1. from my understanding a K1 or CR-1 would be and option but in the long run its not going to do us any good. basically they are for if you are going to live in the states permanently and obtain a green card. we are not wanting to live in the states.

a tourist visa seems to be the best way to go which will allow her to come to usa in the future as well. provided she follows the visa rules. but then you have no idea if she will be approved for the visa.

my big question is. should i be involved at all in the process for a tourist visa? any suggestions how to go about? should i contact the embassy?

    thank you kindly

  7. i don't quite get it with the US government/embassy.

to go to the emassy in bkk you need to make appointments ect, go thru a 12 ft brick wall, lined with razor wire, bomb detectors, ID passport check, leave anything that rings, plays, or moves at the entry point, and an army of security forces and please don't ever loiter in the wrong spot there.

then they do these outreach consular services (which are great and convient) with announcements where to meet, what time, and full knowing you will have americans gathered in one small room. yet you walk in freely with not even an ID check.

believe me i am the last person that likes all the BS security ect ect ect. but really what is the thinking? US government morons, stupidity, or hypocrits?

  8. used this service twice once in pattaya and in phuket. great to have.

in both places what a total lack of security/concern for american citizens gathering in one place for an extended period of time. none at all. the one was even held outside in the court yard at the hilton. you could drive a vehicle right up to it. they announce these outreaches months ahead of time right up to place, time, and room location. i even addressed a letter to the embassy about this. replied we will pass it on.

in bkk its a fortress to get in and probably shot on the spot if you parked your motorbike outside the embassy.

i am not paranoid nut on terrorism/bombs ect. but i do find this totally out of order. particularly when the us embassy is always telling its citizens to be alert.

    just my 2 cents.

I didn't see bars providing high levels of security for american citizens attending the superbowl

thats right. you walked right thru the entrance gates with out any security check.

all i am saying is a fortress in bkk. they go anywhere else and make public announcements and provide nothing.

Keep complaining and they'll stop coming.

I for one appreciate the work they do coming here and providing a service that keeps me from having to fly to BKK every few years.

They're usually very helpful with any questions I have and now I have to get my son a new passport.

Saves me at least 8,000 baht to do it here.

my first sentence "used this service twice once in pattaya and in phuket. great to have."

lets see a few weeks ago the US embassy puts out an alert. warning citizens of terror alerts. irainians found by thai police with bombs and bomb making materials. some entering thru phuket. have they all been rounded up? who knows.

now and in the past the US emabssy announces a gathering of americans. time, place and date. a little more needed then just welcome sign to the meridian.

  9. ANDY runs this event on a very hard earned tight budget, and it is not easy.

I have been to every BLUES FESTIVAL,since it started, and the artists and music has been great and value for money

This year i did not go, neither did Chainsaw,no one really knows why the venue was changed, may be Andy could answer that..I have had good reports about the music,Artists, venue, etc..I personally dont think he will ever get the numbers he needs up there to make any real money, without the sponsors,it could not happen..You will never, ever get enough poeple here in Phuket to have a really big festival, they wont pay the entrance fee, they are to tight.

i have never been to the event. basically 2 reasons the cost and transportation.

from responses/talk in the past it sounds like a great event.

again i will say why cant this so called "world class international island" host a venue like this for free? i imagine the turn out would be much more (particularly thai and families) and the revenue generated for the local business a big boost

pattaya can do it. but phuket can't.

possibly andy could shed more input on it.

OP sorry i have no help for your question

  12. there really is no need for any fees. just look what pattaya does with their international music festival. a great event with top name bands after another. mostly thai musicians. its done very well and orgainized. i could not even guess the 1000's of people attending and the money generated for the business.

    unfortunately phuket = greed.

doubt it would ever happen to what pattaya puts on in march every year.

  13. Immigration converted your tourist visa and gave you the retirement extension at the same time. Since the first application for retirement (but only the first) also counts as a 90 day report, your next 90 day report is due 90 days after the 15th December.

So don't worry, you have to report between two weeks before and one week after the 14th March. But note that the "one week after" only applies if you report in person not by mail.

    thanks matey

  14. i am not sure now if i screwed up or not.

    going back.

    november 2 2011 i entered thailand on a 60 day tourist visa

december 15 2011 i went to immigration to apply for a retirement visa

immigration then gave me a non immigrant visa. there is stamp next to the non immigrant stamp that says phuket immigration, visa class dated dec 15 2011, admitted 14 march 2012.

the retirement stamp is dated until march 14, 2013 (when it expires), then immigration officer signature dated december 15, 2011.

i am trying to recall that the immigration officer told me to report before the march 14th 2012. is this correct? or am i already late reporting becasue i entered thailand on november 2nd 2011?

this is the first retirement and non immigrant that i have gotten.

any help or answers greatly appreciated.
