  1. If you return to live in the UK permanently, (this includes the Philippines) your State Pension will be increased to current levels. If you subsequently move to a country where annual increases are not paid your pension will not increase in the future.

So if you leave Thailand for the Philippines you will receive the updated pension straight away, stay there for a 6 month 3 day holiday and then return to Thailand you will keep the updated pension, but not future increases.

Do this every few years and your laughing

  2. There will indeed be new immigration offices in Lamphun and Lamphan, both are being set up for full services but are not yet open, immigration officer's have already been posted from Chiang Mai to work there. There will be more officials in Lamphun, this might be because of the new airport that will be built in the Ban Ti area.

  3. Lamphun and Lampang now have their own immigration office's , so there are less people using Chiang Mai . Everything will be quicker now

Excuse me? Where exactly are they and when did they open up for biz?

    Thanks

Not sure where the Lamphun one is but the Lampang immigration is in the old police station, been open for years offering 90 days , but now has been revamped to offer full services

  4. Not according to police order 777/2551.

A combination of income and money is not allowed for extension based upon marriage to a Thai.

The only way it could be done is if your embassy/consulate used both when issuing your income letter.

I have been married and living here in Thailand for 16 years first in pattaya then central Thailand and now Chiang Mai, I have used a combination all the time, they ask for thb 40,000 x 12 ie thb 480,000.

  5. It always make me smile when they push up the wages here in Thailand (we all like higher wages I agree), but a small shop/firm with ten workman paying THB 5,000 per person has a wage bill of THB 50,000, if all of a sudden they have to pay THB 300 per day, then their wage bill for ten persons is THB 90,000 per month.

Now they have a choice lay off two workers to reduce their bills or put up their prices and if everyone puts up their prices then the 300 THB has the same value as THB 200

  6. Able to access all parts of the site except the 'Home' (whether through bookmark or links in Facebook).

    CAT (cable) Chiang Mai.

edit: I can access the 'Home' just by going straight to the URL www.facebook.com

Instead of the "Home" link, click on the Facebook Logo, the Home link is still not working for me

  7. Using IE I just tried going from the game to Home & got the website blocked message. What a c.... up. How do you get a VPN?

VPN allows you to surf the Internet securely and with no Government controls. More information can be <snip>

  8. same here yesterday Thailand was Censoring FaceBook

It seems that Thailand is censoring some parts of Facebook today, each time I try to go back to Facebook using the “Home” (http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home) link, from playing Farmville I get redirected to http://w3.mict.go.th/ and each time I receive:

    —————————————

    This webpage is not available.

The webpage at http://w3.mict.go.th/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

    —————————————-

So either they have problems or they cannot handle the re-direct traffic.

Still being censored, when using the "Home" button, this time from "FrontierVille"

Have you tried it using IE?

Using my VPN now, (encrypted Virtual Private Network) they cannot read that, so no problems now

ref IE. not tried that yet, only FF and Chrome

  10. Problem with Chrome and Firefox (TOT). My guess is that some idiot has posted something nasty about the King and thus this is the response... You get get to your profile and by using certain links there you can get in to the feed but if you use HOME of Facebook, you'll be redirected...

  12. Hotels and other places should do this too and put those nasty tuk tuks out of business. They are ripping everyone off and get angry once their monopoly is broken.

They act like greedy children. The thing is Thais like Rucharee dont mind farangs getting ripped off. I really hope that tourism in this country collapses and loads of Thai loose their jobs. But even then they won't realize that they only have themselves to thank for it. Its always the outsider who is wrong never the greedy Thai.

Many Thais have already lost their jobs and livelihood this won't solve the problem, the problem is that Phuket and Chiang Mai have powerful people in charge of the Tuk-Tuks and it will take time to change the system. It will take a strong Prime Minister who is not afraid of the consequences

  13. Well...is there a middle ground? Literally.

Phet = spicy. Got that. Certainly works! :)

Mai phet = not spicy. Got that. :D :D :D

    But what's "in the middle"?

Actually as a farang phet will usually get medium phet. Phet phet is asking for super spicy, and then if you are lucky as a farang you will get normal Thai spicy. You could try phet nit noy; it might work in some places, but some places will just hear that as mai phet coming from a farang.

Speaking of misunderstandings, I think that Thai waiters are so used to hearing mai phet and of course the typical Thai myth that we can't eat spicy food, that quite ofen they will hear phet phet as mai phet and just assume we made a mistake (and/or just not thinking).

I usually order "phet phet phet" when I want it spicy and joke that "mai phet mai alloy" (not spicy not tasty) here in central Thailand it works, I get what I want.
