No such thing. There is no mass immigration of farang to Thailand. You are just viewing clumps of tourists. Real expats are few and far between here.

*Newsflash* Not everyone in either category is "middle class". Always has been like that and always will.

Why there are many people who've never been here but wants to settle down here permanently!
They read a magazine article with places to retire, on $500 a month.
$500 a month?! I'd burn up that much just using a TukTuk to get around that place.

Pattaya is great. Movies, shopping, bars, gyms. Everything is very close by.
Yes, it's nice to have all that stuff within a minutes drive or walk. I've lived here for several years but I really get tired of the 1.) traffic jams 2.) package tourists and 3.) loud music blaring from the bars. You can move out to East Pattaya but it's just barren land out there. If I picked an ideal city I could actually LIVE in it would probably be Chiang Mai. Chiang Rai is too small imho.

What sane person carries $2,500USD in their pocket??

Must be tough guys to shoot a poor lady like that. Real tough.

It certainly is easier when you pay a 0% tax rate. I could never really get ahead in the US because payroll taxes were so high.

What is wrong with it? Anybody know? Is it dying? I use it a lot and the time it happened is when I used it heavily. It gets very hot.

I've never seen Russians misbehave anywhere. As for other nationalities, I've seen plenty of misbehavior.

It's hardly rained at all and they're flooded already? Just wait until a real rainstorm comes along..

Is it really cheaper to have a bar girl than a GF?! Maybe if your GF is a high maintenence one but normal girls who work etc do not cost as much. Maybe you think that way to make yourself feel better! The fee for the girl, bar fine + drinks will be minimum 5k bhats..you do that just twice a week thats almost £200! Iv never had to spend that much on my gfs in a month!
I saw many people like you in my short trip to Bangkok and its sad you have to live in such a shallow meaningless world, wondering around sois 10-12 having a "beer" (doesnt the novelty of having beers everyday wear off?!) and waiting for the bars to open.
If you want to get laid it sure is.
And reading this thread I'm guessing some don't get laid too often..

I don't understand. Is it a Thai holiday? Every other store I've gone to today is closed. Or maybe they just close up shop when they don't feel like working??

This city is just getting worse and worse
Every day there are Assaults robbery
accidents due to drunk driving
tourist are robbed of their values at knife point
Jet ski mafia
Walking street mafia
Maybe its time to move from this city.....
I speculate it is the bad economy. No money from Mr. Falang = flared tempers. We all need to be a little more careful out there.

I first came here to lose my virginity when I was 25 or so(true story). Not really totally my fault that I was in that situation. After all, we all know how many farang women are like & how they hate men. And of course I wasn't about to shell out 8,000 baht for just an hour's fun time. Hell, I can make that last a week over here. So... I saved up some cash and booked a flight to LOS and got it over with. Had a great time. That is history as they say and now I am married to a Thai girl(not a bargirl just a simple shopworker).
-
Oh yeah and how do these men sign over property so easily? Are they that inexperienced with women? Maybe they came here as virgins...?
-
I don't understand how anyone could be homeless in Thailand. It is absurd to even think about such a situation. There are rooms here that rent for 1-2k a month. If they can't afford that then something is very very wrong.

Different culture. Obviously they're not the same as Westerners. Politeness and the face thing is far more important to them.

Would you be able to fit back in(socially)? Personally, I never really fit in when I left so I don't think I'd fit in too well now after a half decade living abroad. I feel like I'm no longer a citizen and losing my sense of ties to my home country and the people who live there. I don't think I can relate to them anymore.

Do you think it is unrealistic for a Thai lady to expect a high standard of living from every farang man? Should they expect a farang man to have a nice house and car? What if he lives in a 2,000 Baht a month fan room, peddles around on a bicycle, and eats at food stalls 3x daily? Should he be judged as a lousy provider? Why can't it be considered normal? Many Thai men earn lousy incomes and are not judged. Why judge the farang to a different standard?

You could have been killed. Not smart. The murder rate in Thailand is 5-10x what it is in your home country. Think about that.

This place is getting too dangerous. Not a day goes by when we don't here of another violent incident regarding tourists. I think it's time for us to think about leaving. Obviously our safety is not a concern anymore.
