Can we still afford to shop at Thai supermarkets?
Sunderland replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If you can't afford to live in Thailand, you probably can't afford to go home. -
Phuket Living Just Got A Lot More Expensive For Our Russian Neighbors

BREAKING: Russia's largest airline, Aeroflot, cancels all international flights from March 8. So anyone flying with Aeroflot has 3 days to leave Thailand or risk being stuck and then detained at the pleasure of Thailand's immigration police for overstaying their visa. -

Thailand reports 3,037 new COVID-19 cases, 25 deaths, 3,115 recoveries
Sunderland replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The only people I know in Thailand who have tested positive for COVID did so in the last 2 weeks and then only did a rapid test at home. They certainly didn't report their result to the government. I am sure there are countless other people in the same boat. They lost their sense of smell and taste and had a definitive cough despite being fully vaccinated. There is absolutely no accuracy in any numbers pushed out for public consumption in Thailand. Not only COVID. Happily, the milder Omicron variant will most probably sweep through Thailand and the rest of the world in a couple of months and hopefully not mutate into anything more severe. -
If the numbers are going to be cooked anyway, it's likely Phuket. Before the tourist invasion in November/December, I would guess 50% of foreigners wore masks. Now, around 10%. Gotta feel sorry for all the Thais working in the tourist industry who are duty bound to wear masks 24-7 while their foreign customers shout, yell and cough in their faces. Masks may well do very little against the spread of Omicron, but it would be nice if everyone were allowed to enjoy the benefits of fresh air and not just arrogant tourists.

Emergency vaccine = neverending boosters Come on you need a 3rd, 4th booster. What do you mean some people in developing countries haven't even had a 1st shot? What do you mean they are not getting sick and dying? Hush! Boost! Boost! You need more of this emergency "vaccine". What do you mean colds,. fevers and flu are less common than 3 years ago? Hush!!!

Thai FDA authorizes Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine for children aged 5-11

Thanks, but no thanks. You can test your emergency vaccines on me or any other adults, but not my children. -
Catch up. Nineteen now. Five more on flights arriving in Phuket in the last 24 hours or so. Still, better than Cambodia. They have recorded only 63 cases of COVID in the last 7 days, but 21 have died. Maybe their testing is different. Perhaps they just whack you on the head if you test positive.

Foreigners in Thailand warned about not wearing face masks
Sunderland replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Oh, bloody hell. Not again. Who forgot to wear their mask this time? Was it Latvian Lenny or Danish Dave? Come on guys, stop letting the rest of the "whities" down. Belarussian Bob and Slovenian Sid always wear their masks, just like Samui Somchai and Phichit Prayut. -
Ministries say some schools to reopen November 1st
Sunderland replied to Jonathan Fairfield's topic in Thailand News
Why? They did at our school most of last year. I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old who can manage to keep a mask on whenever they are asked to do so. Give kids some credit. -

Buy a louder sound system than his and play really creepy, spooky ghost music or anything else that would put local people off going there. He won't stay around long if his business fails. -

Thailand to end quarantine for some vaccinated visitors from Nov - PM
Sunderland replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Who in their right mind will book a holiday when there is a possibility of getting a false PCR test result on arrival and being thrown into mandatory solitary confinement for two weeks? Plenty of other better options for travelers from Europe, the USA, Japan, Australia, India or anyone else in the world. I'm not a drinker, but many people enjoy a drink with their meal or after their meal. More chance of that in Dubai than Bangkok.
