  1. I was going to ask if you got charged for the residency letter...but I see, 500 baht.

You would think this nice little earner would not require authorisation (ie the letter from the DLO), perhaps they are wary of other surreptitious uses.

Jomtiem does not require the letter, but will ask what it is for, and then insist you need 2 letters if you are applying for car and M/Cycle licences together, and charge accordingly. It isn't true of course.

I had to get 2 also, so 2x500

  2. Today i went to Immigration to obtain a Residency Certificate for to be used in my Driving Licence application and was told by them I have to go to the Driver Licensing Office first and get a Letter from them requesting Immigration to supply such a certificate. Then present the letter at Immigration and they will then issue me with the certificate after which I can then return to the Driver Licence office and apply for my Licence. I was told this is a new ruling as last year i just went to immigration office and asked for the certificate and paid the 500 baht and it was given to me in a matter of minutes. Has anyone else heard of this ridiculous waste of time and effort? The 2 offices are about 5 miles apart.

  3. Why Shoot a Dead Motorcyclist .? He cant run off.coffee1.gif

Yeah, that's just typical bad grammar from a Thai reporter. Proper English would be "shoot a motorcyclist dead". Certainly no reason to shoot a motorcyclist that is already dead. RIP.

Yet again, another great example of really great police training in this country. Either these police were never instructed NOT to use deadly force on a fleeing suspect from a simple check-point or this cop had a bad psychic makeup and was just looking for a reason to use his gun. All police should go through a "Psychological Preemployment Screening". I'm sure this cop would have never passed if he had.

He would have passed cause 95% would have failed so then they just lower the pass mark until they have enough police. simple!

  4. I suggest some of the readers be less racist or do not live here. These guys day in day out risk their life to help and save people with very little equipment like jet-skis in Australia. Then you get people who ignore red flags which should be obvious what it means and be disrespectful. The lifeguards have to put up with disrespect probably every day. I see some of the tourists they come here and look down on Thais. They would not behave the same in their own country. Most of the tourists here are budget end people and not educated.

So that gives them around to start fighting??? Remember that 80% of this country is uneducated.. But that doesn't give me or anyone any right to fight them...
  5. I have a Kasikorn savings account with a Cyber enabled VISA debit card and works fine for internet transactions and ATM machines overseas. Have you followed the instructions to complete verification of the card? However, sometimes there are issues for international purchases as some overseas companies will not accept online transactions from Thai based banks due to fraud/security concerns. The link to your mobile phone is for additional security for OTP and to advise when a transaction has happened, again additional security

    .

I have same and no problems.
