  1. "Do you know why they have to do this project?" Mr. Abhisit said mockingly, "Do you know why they are holding a contest for smart ladies? Because if the contest is about finding a stupid bitch [อีโง่], no one would have been able to compete with her".

The thing is that apparently that ending is not what he said.

According to the other paper, he was not referring specifically to her and didn't say "no one would have been able to compete with her".

What he said was mocking the notion of the Smart Lady show and its inane premise. That if they had a show for stupid women, no woman would want to compete in it, eg. no woman would want to be identified as stupid.

He's not apologizing to her because his comments were not directed at her specifically.

    I've given you a 'like'

    .

Thank you. It's enlightening to get input from a variety of news sources to get a more complete picture of what happens.

Don't just rely on khaosod and the nation.

  2. Obama is deeply disappointed that she's not swinging through the States.

He'll be sportin' wood even thinking about her. LMAO.

    He's not you.

  4. Just knew the Government would back down, they always do,

who s next the Garlic growers, carrot farmers

    The corn farmers

The government pay rice farmers 40% over the market price.

Please do the same for the rubber planters.

    And also the corn farmers.

Heck, it would be good if they were just to break even.

In lieu of which, they, too, are ready to protest against this government:

Meanwhile, around 1,000 corn farmers in Phayao province are looking to stage a demonstration today in a bid to request additional assistance from provincial bodies in the wake of plummeting corn prices.

Currently, corn is being purchased at 4.50 baht per kilogram, which is well below the break-even price of 7 baht.

  5. Interesting to see her brother's related involvement with similar promotions used during her European trip and his involvement in making governmental announcements as well as the reincarnation of his scrapped nonsense schemes.

Design, branding specialists to help promote Thai exports

Two American design and branding specialists will come to the Thai capital and meet with a top adviser to Lady Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's government to give "creative" tips for Thai export products. In his Facebook page, Yingluck's brother, former Thai leader Thaksin Shinawatra, disclosed over the weekend that Peter Arnell, CEO of Omnicom's Arnell Group, a US packaging design and branding firm, and Frank Gehry, a noted American architect, are scheduled to visit Bangkok and meet with Punsak Winyarat, the head policy adviser to the Yingluck government, by the middle of next month.

Arnell and Gehry will give suggestions on the packaging design and branding of a wide range of Thai goods for export, mostly products of the so-called SME (small, medium-sized enterprises), OTOP, the acronym for one tambon (local community) - one product, and traditional Thai foods, according to Thaksin. Yingluck earlier confirmed that the government will push for exports of SME and OTOP goods to the world markets, and the "Thai Cuisine Feeds the World" initiative raised by a previous Thaksin government will be put to work.

Thaksin said he had recently met with Arnell and his team somewhere in Italy to discuss the Yingluck government's scheme to have the Thai export goods designed, packaged and branded to the extent that they be comparable to those made in Italy or France.

  6. BANGKOK: -- Thammasat University responded to student pressure on Monday, announcing that the wearing of student uniforms in class was not compulsory.

Welcoming Thailand to the mid-20th century. thumbsup.gif

Only a half dozen more decades to catch up now.

A rather ludicrous statement considering the often foul behavior of many university students in farangland.

Every country and society has its pros and cons. The idea that Thailand is generally worse or somehow far

behind other countries is quite nonsensical -- although it seems to be a popular idea among TV members.

Thailand is generally old-fashioned (not your "worse") in certain aspects.

    There's nothing "nonsensical" about that.

Uniforms for university students is one of them.

The ludicrousness is all yours, somehow misinterpreting mocking old-fashioned practices involving clothing as some other wholly different issue.

  7. The move came after students protested against the Faculty of Science's insistence on uniforms by producing posters of two students in uniform having sex.

I fail to see the connection here between wearing uniforms and having sex.

A woman in a maids uniform, leather or a school uniform, it all personal choice for your fantasy.

Chrissy Amphlett used the school uniform well when she sang "I touch myself"

Oh and for the gay community there is Angus Young.

"Oh and for the gay community there is Angus Young."

I think you meant the blind, deaf and otherwise sensory challenged community.

The gigolos for geriatric gay community

  8. Educational reform under his supervision would start making real moves next month and results, he said, should be visible within two years

At the current rate of turnover for Education Ministers in Yingluck's Cabinet, it will Thailand's Tenth Education Minister, in four years, who will be looking at the results.

No doubt he, like his nine predecessors, will be making similar glorious plans for education.

  9. I am not surprised Shane is throwing his toys out the pram, being that he and his father have been major players in Surathani for a long time (including illegal resort development) it would not be a stretch to imagine why he is so keen for the farmers to get the increase in price they want. I am sure they will both benefit well from it. I would not put it past Suthep to be the one organizing the protests(or should they be terrorists now) to throw Molotov cocktails etc If something happened in Chonburi province previously you could be dam_n sure Khunpluem would know everything about it, likewise Newin in Buriram, so you bet your life Suthep knows who is currently behind the terrorist acts.

Thus quotes the TVF spokesman for the pure and unsullied PTP party.

They of course have never done ANYTHING wrong at all.

    Just ask him.

In fact no need to ask just read his response to my post.

blah blah blah but the PTP this and that.

This thread is not about the PTP

    Actually,

    Thread title:

    "a range of issues"

    Thread content:

"Pheu Thai MP for Nong Khai Pongpan Sunthornchai was caught viewing photos of barely dressed women on his iPad during a parliamentary debate. He later claimed he accidentally clicked on a link that downloaded the images."

  10. This whole situation has the stench of hypocracy and discrimination about it. The governments appeasement of northern farmers and disinterest with their southern cohorts is indicative of this governments perpetuation of a North/ South divide in this country. As these disenfrachised groups become more vocal and their demand ignored they will become more radical.

    PTP reconcilliantion at its finest.

I'm also wondering whether the N / NE rubber farmers have been 'encouraged' by the local red schools to be quiet. No proof, just wondering.

"Persuaded" was the term used in this possible explanation.

Pheu Thai Party Spokesman Prompong denied the government played any role in the shooting.

Prompong also denied a report that the government had made a 200 million baht offer to rubber farmers in Issan and the North to cancel their planned protest.

  11. Are they saying Yingluck has "No Sincerity"?
Call out the DSI for another defamation case as she pledged to fight corruption with much sincerity:

"Thailand would have a much better future if corruption, its biggest threat, is rooted out"

Yingluck was speaking at a conference to unveil her government's anti-corruption strategy. More than 600 participants, including Cabinet members, heads of agencies, provincial governors and leading figures from the private sector, turned out in full force.

  12. Double like !!!

You're only allowed one, otherwise its double standards on the quadruple standards that the police utilize.

Even if - as you contend - exploding gas canisters were knowingly used that time years ago, the incompetence lay in having purchased them in the first place.

And no one needs reminding of the uselessness of the police in other riot scenarios since then. What's happened yesterday is another sign - following the last attempt by a few yellows to blockade parliament - that they are improving their effectiveness, which will hopefully hold for any future rioting no matter who the instigators are.

Agreeably it was police incompetence that led to the purchase of exploding gas canisters and police incompetence to use them again, even after it was known they were exploding and injuring people.

As for the most recent deployment of tear gassing, I'm not aware of how effective it was, other than apparently no one has been maimed by it. I can agree that, at least, is an improvement.

Time will tell if they reduce their quadruple standards down to a single standard.

  13. It would be great if Weng started to take some responsibility for his actions and rants on the red shirt stage.

Take a look at his own calls for his followers to resort to violence.

Realise that most people found his previous actions and words unacceptable.

    Breathtaking hypocrisy

Indicted red shirt leader pheu thai party-list MP Weng is no stranger to hypocrisy
