  1. many people i know, to my big surprise, who live out on the country (farmlands) move to the city to avoid pollution. In the season twice a year the farmers start burning the sugarcane leftovers etc. and there is big airpolution then. Other times they start spraying their crops again with chemicals with the same result. so they state that living in a middle big city is cleaner than living outside in the rural area's

  2. free stuff for recyclable stuff is nonsense. All the stuff that is to be recycled is already collected by the poor... FOR MONEY, not other crap. it is the rest of the garbage normal people in normal house holds throw aways at the spot when they don't need it anymore.

And yes of course the retailers...

There is a big big villa here in the neigborhood being build. When finished they just pushed a big heap or rubbisch over the edge of a klong on the other side of the street. So clear what happened here, but hey rich guy, so no reaction. garbage has been there for weeks until the city paid to clean it.

When little children finish their drink or whatever they just throw it instantly on the ground, parents and all watching like nothing happened.

Farmers are busy harvesting rice, after they finished a few rai they move on to the next plot and leave a big mountain of plastic and stuff, left over from their lunch.

The overall way the people look at their enviroment makes everything look dirty.

The government can controll the big poluters and manage the big garbage heaps and what not, but only the people at streetlevel can make it LOOK cleaner on the streets and have some respect for their own country

  4. Rencently got the same question answered by a profitable investor , who is also my friend....He said: If you have no clue about stocks etc.. don't invest in them....Stick with something you know.

I happen to know real estate..and as a long term investment it is pretty safe. This does not mean it has to be in Thailand naturally.

Basic point i am trying to make and i agree with him in this...Stick with what you know. There are other ways to invest your money with a healthy return on your investment on the long term...

Wheter you decide to go with stocks or something else.

The main rule is the same with all of m....Do your homework , so you know Exactly what it is you put your savings in.

I would never put my money in , just on the words of another, without being able to confirm this myself

There is no easy money and you will need to spend many hours in just about everything, before you can lay back and cash out

  5. Like said... Evey amount that is asked to pay on the spot is extortion. You don't have to pay anything on the spot. If you don't speak Thai, just always have the telphone number of your insurance at hand and call them.

I also have the telephone nuber of a Thai, English speaking lawyer at hand at all times. so when i get in a situation like this, police can explain to him what is happening and who they are.

Most times when it is a small accident they won;t bother wanting to argue with your insurance and or lawyer there at the spot.

In case of a larger accident a lawyer is well wanted to explain your rights and how the situation should proceed.

I also always carry the number of my consulat in case of the situation that they want to confiscate my pasport.....ah well i guess it's all common sense,

  6. Thought the question was..are you still happy......? so the answers can vary.

Many people live here for various reasons other than love for the country or people.

If someone feels it is complaining to point out facts, and it give them the right to say bugger off to all who state other things 'oh its so wonderfull' , i guess they have integrated well.

not being able to handle critique is a beautifull thing all the Thais i know have...

    ah well ingnorance is bliss.

. making good money, living in a nice house, but NO!

I find this smile to be a fake and helpfullness? have never seen it to be genuine and free.

Overall i always find the Thai to be rude and unconciderate to anyone or anything else including their own friends, family and children.

I am concidering leaving Thailand despite of having a good running business here.

All the murders, political chaos and corruption has never bothered me , it is purely the antisocial way of the Thai people making me want to leave.

They are to me the most impossible people i've ever met and i don't know if their stupidity and unwillingness is much longer bearable.

For sure i foresee no good future for this country. One that is unwilling to learn and progress and more concerned about the loss of their face than to solve real issues.

So no i no longer love living here. The more i get to know the people, the less i love being here

  8. Sounds to me like the money you make back home is worth less than the money you make here. The garantees for the future back home seem worth the same as here. Nothing. If you and your girlfriend would make a serious commitment you will be able to raise some funding here and start something to raise a litlle more cash.

I am not in your shoes and god it sounds like a hard choice, but going back to uncertainty and lonelyness and leaving happiness sounds wrong. You only live once and getting older won't help you find a new love of your life, assuming she is that. I prefer happiness and won't need a lot here to survive.

rather than working a crappy job and living in a crappy apartment and dreaming about what would've been if....

  9. I am able to sell a house i recently build here in Thailand, but won't be in Thailand when the people purchasing the house want to make the payment. Neither ismy Thai wife.

Giving a lawyer a power of attorney to sell the house is an option, but i have no experience with this.

Only am well aware of many stories about Thai lawyers not to be trusted.

Are these stories founded to your opinion?

Do you think it is safe to do this?

Do you have experience with this?

All stories are welcome. Good and bad experiences.
