  1. Been there done that!

In retrospect after selling off all my property and belongings I am now back and forth to the UK after a wonderful couple of years in LOS. I just would not conform to the extortionate rate of tax I would have had to pay in Thailand. It is tough to earn a reasonable wage and if you do you get taxed, shed loads of dough. Realistically I should have rented my property and made a remortgage to get some travelling money but secured the mortgage repayments by means of a tenant. The house I sold, sold for £27k more 9 months after I sold it!

I am living back with the olds at the moment, which is no fun at 35.

    Be warned! :o

  2. I was almost about to embark on my second un-travel insured journey to LOS. The prices were at a level that the gamble of not taking it was for the 'tight wad' that I am not even questionable. Unfortunately, last visit, I had a bad motorcycle accident which cost me around £200 this wasn't so much but I certainly wanted to get insurance this time.

Everyone in the family has given me pressure to get it and all have made suggestions such as, Post office, Egg etc, etc.

I am 35 and just miss the younger traveller age and also I am in Thailand for more than 30 or 45 days (the maximum allowed by most companies).

I was waiting inside Sainsburys and looking at the millions of services leaflets and low and behold, they sell travel insurance. I checked out the website and got a quote for 3 months stay in Thailand £101.50. Surely the cheapest?

Not wishing to advertise JS or anything just trying to help out my fellow travellers.

  3. Have you got a venue yet and anything going on 31st of this month? I shall be visiting BKK a few times over the next 3 months so keep me posted, I'd love to attend.
  4. I am coming back to LOS at the end of July and can't remember what I previously did about the visa. I want a 3 month visa, what is that called as I have looked on the Thai embassy site in London. Do I have to do any border crossings during the 3 months or just to a local immigration office?

I plan to go to London this week so a quick reply would help.

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Koh Samui is fine if you have young children. I would aim for Maenam though as it is quieter and not full of the 'adult' entertainment establishments, not saying you can't have a good meal and a beer but it's not full of 18 - 20 year olds.
  6. Cheers George

    This site does work then!

I will be in Samui in particular and I know the coverage is good on most networks for GSM and thanks for the GPRS update.
