  1. Are there any Retired Veterans receiving treatment for Metastatic Prostate Cancer, using the recently FDA approved (23 March 2022) 177LU-PSMA-617 (Pluvicto), at a private hospital in Bangkok, that will accept using the VA-FMP for payment of this Therapy?

Have been using enzalutamide (Xtandi) for the past few years but it is now letting my PSA rise to fast, according to my Oncology Doctor.

The VA-FMP has been paying for all my Metastatic Prostate Cancer (Vietnam 64-65) Therapy, and do not know if they will also accept the new drug Pluvicto. It is rather expensive for one cycle.

If so, would you please PM me. Thanks

  2. Are there any 100% CRSC disabled American veterans filing taxes from Thailand? After 8 years finally received CRSC approval and the Form 1099-R says no taxes due. VA Disability Compensation no tax, DFAS Retired pay no tax.

Do not think my social security, at present yearly $11,000, will be taxable. Perhaps some veteran uses a Thai Tax service that is familiar with CRSC? Perhaps it is not even required to file a yearly 1040 tax return anymore. Any information appreciated.

  3. Sent a document by EMS to the USA in November 2015 for Baht 600. Sent the same size and weight document by EMS to the USA 26 January 2016. Cost Baht 1,400. Anyone else experience this unbelieveable EMS Postal increase?

Is there anyway else to send envelope sized mail with a tracking ability to the USA or Europe at a reasonable cost?

  4. Maybe there are some paint experts on this forum.

Would anyone know the difference between Beger Cool UV Shield and Beger Cool Super Ceramic Shield? Folks at paint shop do not know and Beger does not reply to emails.

Have used Beger Cool UV Shield many years ago with good results and wish to know if the Super Ceramic Shield is perhaps any better.

    Any info appreciated.

  5. A retired Vietnam Vet in Prama 9 Hospital in Bangkok needs this blood type for heart surgery. Neither the hospital or Red Cross have any. Has been waiting for this blood type for last 5 days.

Have been told by the hospital that blood donations can be made at the hospital or Red Cross.

Can PM me for his name but unfortunately can not be on the computer 24/7.

The Prama 9 hospital should know who he is. Has been treated at this hospital for last 2-3 years. Has complications related to: Hypertensive Heart Disease associated with Diabetes Mellitus Type II. Thankfully this treatment is covered by the VA, as it is a combat-related service-connected disability.

    Any help, blood donations appreciated.

  6. Is it possible to change from Thai to English using the PSI remote when viewing western movies on a satellite or cable PSI TV program? Presently in a location with a PSI receiver box with over 200 programs all in Thai. Do not wish to push any of the buttons on the PSI remote, without knowing what they do. Had no idea that so many channels have been translated to Thai.

Have had no luck no finding any info on the internet. Any info appreciated.

  7. Compression stockings can be bought at the HealthyMax shop on the 2nd floor (Mezzanine Fl.) of the Bumrungrad International Hospital. Baht 1350.

Having worn them daily for the last 7 months, would recommend the open toe type as shown in Post #54. The closed toe type put to much pressure on the toes, at least for me, for continuious wear.

Best to call before, because sometimes they are out of stock. Tel. 0-2667-1315 or email: [email protected]

  8. My Firefox Browser's Home Page is and has been for years google.com/ncr

Attempted two times to send an email Room Reservation using a Bangkok Hotel's website. Clicking on the Send button resulted in a Can Not Contact This html. I gave up.

Decided to use my own email to send the Hotel Room Reservation. Clicked on the Firefox icon and the address bar showed google.com/ncr for about 1 second. Than changed to google, com and I was looking at a Google Chinese web page. Did a full scan using Malwarebytes and Ad-Aware. No Virus shown.Use Windows XP Pro and Firefox on a Wireless Internet connection. Can anyone offer a possible solution ? Would prefer not to change to another search engine.

  9. Are quality Polyurethane Bushings & Anti-Friction Pads for leaf spring suspensions available in Thailand?

So far have only found Rubber bushings & anti-friction pads. Have used rubber bushings twice and would like to try Polyurethane Bushings this time, if available.

Seems the garages/shops close to our rural location are not familiar with the word polyurethane in Thai or English.

Perhaps there is a company that sells these suspension items, which can be ordered by email & mailed by Thai EMS Post? :)

A Google search was not helpful.

  10. Wow!! Really did not mean to start a war by posting my clutch experience at the Toyota Dealer.

Pib, yes the Pilot and Throwout bearings were replaced as you, Transam and others suggested.

A visual inspection of both these bearings showed absolutely no evidence of scratches or distortion. Also ran my fingers over and around these bearings and could feel no scratches. The Pilot Bearing end of the Transmission Input Shaft, looked and felt scratch free.

Lickey, They did use a transmission jack, which they also used as a resting place for the clutch/transmission, when they got tired of manhandling it, during the removal. The only minor damage I saw, was to the metal(?) gasket around the flywheel housing where the Clutch Housing bolts to. Probably caused by the crowbars.

The only problem I have now is , it will probable take another 500 to 1000Km before I stop imagining strange sounds coming from the transmission/clutch housing, when driving off-road, far from any Toyota Dealer.

  11. Pip, Transam. For the past 7 weeks, took a chance, and have been traveling only on flat roads, so no real problems or weird noise.

Few days ago had appointment at a Toyota Dealer. A very interesting day.

From 08:30 to about 10:45, they attempted to remove the clutch/transmission. The head mechanic said some bearing had broke, so very difficult to remove. Said this had never happened before and normally takes about 45 minutes.

Watched for about one hour, as three men pushed, pulled, shook and used small to large crowbars in an attempt to remove the clutch/transmission by force. Finally had to walk outside. Truthfully, was concerned a few times that the truck would fall off the four arm vehicle lift. Thought for sure something had to be damaged. Was really worried about the Transmission Input Shaft.

After removal, the Pilot Bearing and the Throwout Bearing looked OK. The flywheel was in good shape, no deep scratches or gouges. The only damaged part was the center flange? area of the Clutch Disk. It was very loose with fine hairline cracks from the center to the outside.

If this was caused by the violent removal of the clutch/transmission or if this was the cause of the noises I was hearing while engaging the clutch on hills and while attempting to go over small hills and ruts/holes off-road, or the cause of the difficulty to remove the clutch/transmission, really have no idea.

Attaching a few photos of the Clutch Disk. Might help to better understand my writing.

The Transmission Input Shaft appears OK and not loose. Just hope there are no problems later. Have driven about 400 Km and everything appears normal.

Can only hope that if anything happens it will be during the three month guarantee period.

Would appreciate your thoughts on what might have caused the damage to the Clutch Disk Center.

  12. As was suggested, as there is more than 124K on the Vigo, will have a new clutch kit installed. My problem is, should I have the flywheel resurfaced, if necessary, and risk the problem Riley's Life, a Forum Member, had last December or just have a new flywheel installed.

The problem is, that all parts EXCEPT the flywheel are in stock. So, if when the clutch comes out and a new flywheel is needed, have to wait until it arrives after being ordered. That takes 4-5 days.

If I order one before the clutch repair and the original flywheel is in good condition, will still have to pay for the unneeded flywheel because I ordered it. Seems no one,at this dealership has ever needed a new flywheel.

Can not really be without transportation for 4-5 days, so guess will have to order one and hang the original flywheel on the garage wall.

The Toyota dealer's head mechanic said it will only take 3-4 hours to uninstall, repair, install the clutch. The question was asked 2 times, so no mistake. Can this be possible?? The labor cost for this work is only Baht 840. Seems unbelievable to me. Was also told they do not drain the transmission gear oil when they move it.

Cost of the Toyota parts: Clutch Disk Baht 3500, Pressure Plate Baht 3630, Pilot Bearing Baht 160, Throwout Bearing Baht 1630 and the Flywheel Baht 7500. With VAT and labor Total Cost Baht 18,409. This is in writing.

A question: How far from the floor should a clutch pedal be before engaging and disengaging the gears, if it is working correctly??

    Any comments, suggestions appreciated.

  13. Transam, Kinda late I know, just saw your Post#12, 2010-11-19. Been using the BF Goodrich AT, 265/75x16R, made in USA. (Read somewhere they are now also produced in Thailand.) Been using this type tire only, on our 4X4 Vigo. On-road & off-road, a very good all-around tire, IMHO.

  14. Thank for the reply's.

Pib, Could say the clutch noise is rather like a squeal. Never had any heavy traffic, stop & go type driving. Mostly long distance travel & off-road driving. Interesting that you say I have been lucky to have driven 124K without a manual clutch problem.

Licky, To test this noise problem, went half way up a hill, stopped, than engaged 1st gear. Did this 4 times,to insure that the noise and duration of the noise, was the same.

Before I wrote the OP, did check the transmission oil & looked for any sign of an oil leak into the clutch area.Everything looked OK.

Honestly, don't know if I have the gonads to rev up to 3500RPM, select 3rd gear & release the clutch pedal. Have a mental image of clutch parts coming through the truck floor. :o Will have to think about that. :)

Would it be better to go to an authorized Toyota dealer or find a good truck repair shop and bring authentic Toyota clutch parts?

  15. Toyota Vigo 4x4, 124000Km. Clutch and clutch pedal appear to be working normally. No unusual noises in normal driving on level/flat roads.

However, when engaging first gear on a hill or steep grade, there is a momentary, perhaps a 1 second noise, when releasing the clutch pedal. This noise does not continue when shifting into 2,3 or 4th gear. This started about one week ago.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this problem?

If this is a possible major clutch problem, what would be the best solution?

From what I have read on this forum, it would appear that one should put in a new Clutch Plate, Pressure Plate, Throwout Bearing, and a new Pilot Bearing on the Flywheel. This possibly keeps the Toyota mechanics from attempting to resurface the flywheel and/or Pressure Plate, which could cause future problems and another trip to the Toyota dealer.

Can this be done in one day at a Toyota dealer? Would anyone, perhaps who has had this work done before, have an idea of the total cost in parts and labor?

    Any suggestions,ideas appreciated.

  16. Sorry for delay in replying. Been up to my neck in attempting to supervise our Bungalow renovation.

hml367--There are no arrows anywhere to click on to navigate thru the older messages, not on the opening Inbox page.

Supernova--Your symbols also do not exist on the Hotmail opening Inbox page.

The only wording on bottom of Inbox page is "178 messages" on first line and on the next line the words "NEW, DELETE, JUNK, SWEEP, MARK AS, MOVE TO". Clicking on any of these words does not bring me to any of the older message pages.

Is there any way to return to the old classic Hotmail??

Genghis61--Do not feel alone. I am also rural and using Edge. Nearest phone line/cable is about 12km from our location. The friendly folks at the local phone line company TOT, located about 32 km away, in reply to our asking when we could get an internet/phone land line, politely said...Not in my lifetime. Maybe if we are lucky we might see 3G. :)

  17. Before the Hotmail email makeover, the Inbox showed the latest 30 to 35 email messages. When I wished to view an older email message was able to click on page numbers at the bottom of Inbox page.

Presently have 212 messages shown on the bottom of Inbox page, but no page numbers to click on. So the question is, does anyone have a possible solution to this problem. How do I recover/view these lost? 212 email messages?

Google was of no help and Hotmail Live Solution Center gave me a headache.

    Any suggestions appreciated.
