My burmese gf, has a relative, who married a foreigner in Yangoon, to my knowledge no problem at all.

I am planning to marry my girl, but I think I might wanna do it here in Thailand instead.

You will also find many foreigners who become Thai experts even after just been here for 1 month.

Anyone knows?

There are sometimes small differences that we are unable to hear, same thing with some Thais speaking English.

They say something that to them sounds exactly like we say it in English, but some small difference makes it almost impossible for us to understand. And vice versa

It does not primarily have to do with skin color, but more to do with cultural references and cultural background.

And middle class Europeans? What does that really mean? It is a HUUUUUUGE difference between Southern and Eastern Europeans to many North-Western Europeans.

Many Southern and Eastern Europeans are dirt poor, much worse off than middle class thais.

The most intelligent races are East Asians (Japanese, Koreans, etc) and Jews.

That superior intelligence didnt help any of them in the 1940s.

I've heard about a small bar/club called Brown Sugar, but I'm afraid I don't know where it is apart from Bangkok. I hear that it's very good.

Just found their website. Seems like it's more acoustic blues than rock.

Brown Sugar has a reputation of being a club for live jazz, keeping in mind that the Thai definition of 'jazz' can be quite broad.

The term Jazz can be quite broad even in a non Thai definition.

Just about every place with live band plays that tired old blues/gold........hey its 2013 now.

The problem is, the majority of expats are over 50, and refuses to listen to something else than Lynard Skynard, Greatful Dead, and The Eagles.

My girlfriend wants to set up a shelf on the wall above the bed, but in order to do that we need to drill some holes in the wall. Am I allowed to do that without asking the owner of the condo, or do I have to contact her first and ask for permission? I just rent the condo.

You are gonna get some real cynical answers in this forum.

Thaivvisa forum definitely attracts the bitter and cynical foreigners here in Thailand.

No more disposable, however, life in general are less worth here.

What is problematic, is that in the west, men are still viewed as disposable, meanwhile females are put on a pidestals and worshipped by many males.

Lets turn in around.

Lets say you had a 16 year old daughter, would you like her to date a 73 old man?

if even the police cannot do anything ... who will ? what a shame for a country so proud of the tourism and money it brings...

It is usually not Thailand who brags about how much money tourism brings, as it is not that much, it is usually some hurt foreigner who complains, that even though, he as a tourist usually buy many beers in the bars, and set up a beer bar business, and still Thailand had the guts to tell him to ... off, when he did something illegal...

Stupid idea. There are already so many taxis around that it's hard for them to find a customer.

Hard for Taxi drivers to find customers? What planet are you living on?

Usually it is the opposite, it is the customer who has a hard time finding a taxi driver who is willing to drive them.

Does not really matter, Thais tend to bunch us all into one category. No matter where you come from, or how you behave.

You are first and foremost a white skinned person, that is, a "farang".

You do not have anything in common.

She is a good looking girl, and she wants to have a lot of exiting things happen in her life.

Girls in the west are the same, the only difference is, they would not even dream of being together with you.

Here in Thailand, the girls can endure a relationship with almost any foreigner, if it is beneficial for her in the long run (financially, and opportunity wise), but it does not make her any more interested in you.

in case you did not know, in the USA, there are not only white people, but black people, asian people, native indians, etc.

Example of other Western countries with not only white people are:

France

Germany

Holland

England

Sweden

Norway

and the list goes on and on...

One thing I have to say though is, there is nothing more embarrassing than seeing a foreigner shouting and screaming at a Thai for bad service or similar nonsense.
