Try booking.com agoda.com etc. and click you want parking.

They should filter out closed hotels etc.

Agoda let me book Nana Hotel. But they are not opening till next month. That is why I am asking on a forum so I can get numbers to phone

  2. Hi, I have to drive to Bangkok sometime this week. I normally stay at The Nana hotel but they are still closed. I need a hotel close to the action that has a place to park as I cannot walk very far.

Dy-Nasty is not answering phone so I assume they are closed as well.

    Any ideas?

  3. Ao Phrao beach is in the middle of Koh Samet National park and is owned by some very powerful people (recently even more powerful).

This could be interesting. PTT has been "cleaned out" by the Junta and now has chosen people involved with the board. Ao Phroa resort in built on national park land which the Junta has been very forceful in clearing in Phucket. This is all happening in the heartland of The Eastern Tigers.

I will be watching the censored news with interest.

  4. Wait a minute. Is this the guy who was shot during the protests in Bangna as he was speaking from the back of a truck? The guys where they have video of the attackers storming the truck and shooting?

If it is and the forensics think suicide, then these are the geniuses we should send to figure out who shot down MH17, where is the missing rice and where the Saudi jewels are! Not!

No, this was the environmental activist that was fighting against the pollution coming from Mat Aput industries. Rayong is one of the heartlands of The Eastern Tigers Faction of the Army.

Did the Junta just appoint a new head of Forensic Science?

  5. Under the new laws on censorship, expect to hear more news like this.

I have been bumped out of business class on Thai more than once and if you do not get them to issue you the right form it takes ages to get the refund.

It used to be that Thai management got free business class travel when they reached a certain level, MPs and Senators also got free First/Business class travel on Thai.

Under the new censorship rules I wonder if we can expect pics of a General travelling Economy soon?

  6. Suthep admitted ordering troops to shoot at rioters with real shotguns but at below the knee level

Oh, that's OK then. What a fine upstanding gentleman.

fortunatley your not a judge with a pre-planned verdict ehthumbsup.gif

I know this is a cynical question but: who appointed those judges and when were they appointed?

Funny that his lawsuit was heard so quickly.... I wonder why wink.png Wink, wink, nudge, nudge!!

This court appearance is very early in proceedings and is basically just acknowledgement of the charges. The case itself will start in 2 or 3 (or 10) years.

Wrong case, the case against Suthep is the one he is avoiding. This is Suthep's case against Tarit.

Suthep was taken to court after he was released by the military to answer the charges on the case against him. He was bailed imediatly without saying anything to answer the charges.

Case against Suthep is going to be very slow. Case against Tarit for bringing charges against Suthep will be quick.

  7. I think that everybody needs to re-read the OP.

This is not the case where Suthep and Abist are being prosecuted, that case will take years before being quietly dropped.

"He testified in the court for a case he filed against Department of Special Investigation (DSI) former director-general Tarit Pengdit and three other DSI senior officials of malfeasance and power abuse for indicting murder and attempted murder charges on former premier Abhisit Vejjajiva and him in connection with the legitimate crackdown of rioters between April and May 2010."

The aim of this case which is being very quickly rushed through the courts is to prosecute Tarit and others for bringing charges against the Dear Leader.

Talking about his testemony now. He said that he ordered shot guns fired and aimed below the knees, anybody who has used shotguns will tell you that they are useful because the pellets spread out quickely depending on the choke of the barrel.

  8. There has been a route for people fleeing NK for years, if they could get to Thailand and the SK embassy, they were considered safe. Thailand has been turning a blind eye to these poor people for years. They are fleeing a military dictatorship and will be given new lives in democratic SK.

Now that Thailand has a military dictatorship they are arresting NK refugees. I hopethey are not sent back, but worry that they might be.

Will the Thai Junta support the democratic SK or the Military dictatorship in NK?

Under the present censorship rules in Thailand we probably will never know. what a sorry state we are in.

North Koreans have always been arrested for illegal entry and thrown in local police jails in Thailand where they stay until transported to the immigration jail in Bangkok. Then they wait for more months until the South Korean embassy sort out the paper work, it's a very slow process.

The documentary that I saw had a group of NK refugees that made it to the SK embassy and were given temp documents the very same day. That was under a democratic government here. I cannot find any other cases where they were arrested in Thailand, I believe that this is unusual and worry that it is a new thing under the Junta. I hope you are right and that our Junta are not as bad as I think that they might be.

We will probbly never know the truth under the present censorship of the press.

Yes, the censorship of the press. I wonder just how did we even find out about this story when they obviously wanted to cover it all up and quietly ship them back to North Korea??

The Thai authorities have always detained any they find who haven't made it to the South Korean embassy. Some good background is in the following link, which was written in November 2006, and includes the statement "According to official Thai statistics, more than 400 illegal North Koreans have been detained so far this year, up significantly from the 80 nabbed in 2005". As the previous coup took place on September 2006, just whose government was detaining all these people?

    http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Korea/HK09Dg01.html

Thanks for the link, very illuminating. I hope this Junta continues with the arrangement.

  9. Agree it should have been an invitation and not a summons. Others that were summons were held in detention and it would not be wise to detain foreign ambassadors because thier heads of state disagree with the coup

IT WAS not a summons--they were summoned to attend------governments do summoned envoys to attend ----they are not going before a court-or a judge DOH

Just massaging my crystal ball here.

The foreign envoys will be summoned.

The Junta will explain the reasons behind the coup.

The foreigners will not agree that it is good.

The Junta will say that "The foreigners do not understand Thailand".

Just my crystal ball, yours may be different.

No need to talk dirty I am not interested in your balls. sorry dear.

I only have one ball that is crystal dear.

Better stay on Topic here. I wonder who will turn up.

Then invite them and not order them. To summon is to direct or order. Governments would be annoyed by this order against thier diplomats. Just say you are invited and rip by xx xx. No problem sorry sorting out my sock drawer can't make your propaganda speech.

Example--A P.M does never invite a diplomat say from an embassy to attend on serious matters, he/she summon them to attend. that's all on serious or urgent matters this happens all over the world. It is government language.

    diplomatic language is:-

    Invite for discussions.

    Summon for a telling off.

    Note for a severe warning.

I would not read too much into a translation from Thai to English. Invites are very rarely ignored, but summonses are. If it was a summons then we will know tomorrow by who turns up.

  11. ????? Chooka is this a joke ??? summon ??==urgent invitation to attend, nothing to do with the judge. DOH---invite get it dear.

Fair enough my friend but you and I have a different interpretation of the term summoned. This is just a discussion and not intended to create a pissing completion.

I get invited to weddings and parties and have never been summoned. I have been summoned to the office of my boss, never invited.

The Junta summoned former ministers to come before them and those that refused where arrested, they weren't invited. They are using the same term to call ambassadors before them as they did for those they held in detention. Maybe they should have used the expression; "You are invited to attend a seminar where we will explain what we are doing" instead of you are summoned.

To me the term summoned is more of an directive/command or order to attend and not a personal invitation.

    Summon

    verb (used with object)

    1. to call upon to do something specified.

    2. to call for the presence of, as by command, message, or signal; call.

    3. to call or notify to appear at a specified place, especially before a court: to summon a defendant.

    4. to authorize or order a gathering of; call together by authority, as for deliberation or action: to summon parliament.

    5. to call into action; rouse; call forth (often. followed by up ): to summon all one's courage.

An invitation is to make a POLITE formal request for someone to attend an event. To summon is a form of order.

Agree it should have been an invitation and not a summons. Others that were summons were held in detention and it would not be wise to detain foreign ambassadors because thier heads of state disagree with the coup
