  1. The restructuring of the police is badly needed.Every educated person knows that they are corrupt from the top down.In order to change this situation you have to start at the top.without doubt you must pay them a salary equal to the job they do.firstly they must be educated that they are enforcers of the law.sitting in police boxes watching motorists go through red lights.Zebra crossings are for pedesrians.sitting in gold shops watching the TV is not police work.Tha Thai police forensic team should be disbanded and allow THONGTIP ROJOHANASEN to do her work unheeded.Albert

  2. i read today that taxsin is in London, seeking political assylum. no doubt.I suppose the great British Government wil offer him all the amenities that they bestow on all the other assylum seekers.IE Free accomodation, free clothing, free food, all at the expense of the british tax payer I hope that the Thai people in the UK will raise their voices ang throw this man and his family out.

  3. There are an estimatd 700,000 monks in the country what is their contribution to sosciety How many criminals are hiding behind the orange robe. Why dothey remain seated when the national anthem is being played. Why do old ladies on baht busses get up to let a monk sit down.Tell me about the abbot who had 60 Mercedes and another one who kept an elephant chained to a tre for 10 years. Albert

  4. BRILEY .to answer your question. All MPs & public sector workers receive full UK pensions.'they are index linked' this aplies to any country they choose to retire to

PAULY.you spend all your working until you are 65 You have paid all your NI contributions during that period. If then you choose to live abroad tour pension will be frozen from the time you leave the UK.The only exceptions to this are countries they have reciprocal arrengements

Thre are ones i have mentioned in previous postings Albert

  5. Iagree with guesthouse.all of you people should be writing to your MPs,about expats frozen pensions.I came to live here over 10 years ago.My pension has been frozen from the time I left the UK.There are500,000 of us worldwide all in the same boat.Had we gone to live in the US the Philipines or Israel, our pensions would have been index linked. This same rule aplies to UKpublic servants retiring in any country in the world. Is this fair? Albert

  6. If you refer to my recent postings on this topic @deforestation@Isaid it was an ideal time for the me.dia to imform the Thai people as to why this tradgedy happened.by media i mean by sound ,television, and all Thai newspapers.Reading postings on this topic 78% of Thai people said it was due to deforestation.they should demonstrate this in the next election.i repeat, this was brought about by the RICH & CORRUPT.They should be found out.Their assets siezed along with those of their immediate families and given to these poor unfortunate families,to enable them to start new lives. Albert

  7. GumballI disagree with you entirely .the poor who live in the forrests are some of the greatest conservationists on the earth. They have lived there for hundreds of years. They were quite content until the rich&corrupt invaded their habitat ,in their greed they destroyed the habitat of these lovely people and we are left with the disaster these poor peole find themselves in today.Logging was banned in Thailand some 10 years ago,but it still flourishes Because of the RICH & CORRUPT. ALBERT

  8. GU22 keeps spouting the facts as if that proves his case completely.
Er....sorry, I don't get this. Of course I keep quoting the facts, because they do prove my case! What do you expect me to quote, the price of fish!
Just because only 5-6% of visas are refused doesn't prove GU22's claim that the ECO's are totally fair. It shows they refuse thousands of visas a year
2,586 last year to be precise, but they issued 39,938!
many of which will, like mine, be due to a spiteful ECO and not because they have failed on merit.
Planning to fail!? If so, you wont be disappointed. I'm sorry to say this, but I sometimes get the impression that you would be far happier if your boyfriends application did fail! As this means you could continue to blather on about how spiteful and unfair the ECOs are!
Section 320 allows the ECO's the power to refuse even if the criteria are met , due to past immigration breaches. So should it be refused or granted ??

A bit off topic i know but i would love to know their opinion on this.

I can only answer that each case is different and it depends entirely on the circumstances. I do know at least one poster on Thailand-UK has been successful in obtaining a settlement visa for his partner who had previously been subject to administrative removal from the UK. So it is possible, it does happen. Sorry, I know that you don't like them, but that's a fact.

    Sorry, forgot to add:-

The Gent (he is not my understanding of the word "gent")
We can agree on something, then!

Whils,t on the topic of the British Embasy.I would like to add my story.Just recently i had to attend to get a new passport.Because of my age,it is issued free, but can only be done from the UK.Itook my old one and an addressed envelope and asked them to send the new one on to me.[in 6 to 8 weeks time]They told me they couldn,t do this as i had to take the old one back to get it cancelled. As i live in Pattaya and my previous Passport hadn,t been cancelled.I can-not see the reason for this unneccesary journey Albert.

  9. First a question? None of my bussines but why didn,t your Dad get one from the national healyh in the uk.However i have a digital on e that i bought here Firstly i attended queensuwang wattana hospital in si racha the doctor i saw there has a local private clinic and he fixed me up with a hearing aid at the cost of about15,000 baht or 220 pounds.      Albert.

    Hi Albert,

He is getting one from the NHS but he has seen some that you have to buy that are meant to be better - somthing like a small wire that can be hidden inside the ear. These are really expensive in UK so were just wondering if we could get him one here.

    Thanks for the tip.

The Hearing aid i was refering to does fit inside the ear. There are no wires Albert

  10. Hello,

My dear old dad is coming over with Mum to visit for a month in Feb.  He is now really struggling to hear normal conversation and is getting very frustrated as he still thinks he is Peter Pan even at 76!  He's decided that now is the time to get a hearing aid and after looking into it in the UK he is confused to say the least as they can range from a few hundred quid to a £3000 or £4000 back home!

Does anybody know of a good model of hearing aid - the small one that you can hide inside your ear apparently - and if so can you tell me where we might get him one in Bangkok or elsewhere?

Many thanks for any help in advance.

    Kate

  12. I would like to disclose a few facts about pensions from the UK government.I am 81 years of age I have lived in Thailand for the last 10 years. My pension has been frozen since ileft the UK at 58 pounds a week.I am only one of half a million of us world wide who's pensions remain frozen. Albert

It's a bit disheartening to read it, but thank you for your reply, sir.

    :o

I suppose that's what my friend was referring to (the freezing of the rate) as he's been here 14 years and received a "pittance" compared to what he would have received in the UK. I recall his also wondering outloud if there was any sort of organized protest against this discriminating practice, although he finished that by saying, "by God, not likely with those crooked politicians."

    Gotta luv the Brits... :D
