This is normal police practice all over Thailand. If you want protection from the police you put your money in the red box they give you and a policeman will turn up daily usually on a mother bike, collect the money that has been arranged by the police as the price of protection and a visible police presence is seen so no one messes with that house or property or business.

    What a load of crap!

We have 3 houses (two rentals) all with red boxes. The police comes around two or three times a day to check that everything is okay. They sign a booklet in the box with time of the visit (makes it possible for us to check that they have actually been there) and a signature. For that service we pay 1500 baht/month for all 3 boxes, not by any secret envelopes in the box but to a officer coming around to collect the fee.

This protection costs us about 7-8 baht per visit, which I consider extremely cheap for the security provided. For 12 years never had any crime in or near any of the houses.

Sorry, that corruption theory just went down the drain!!

So you admit that business' pay the police, not just yours but many of them..

Yet you fail to see how this is corrupt??????

  2. Have you ever seen such total incompetence in all your life? First it's one then the other then someone else, then it's the bar owners son, or a cousin or we are nearly ready to make arrests, (nearly???), and then we are 85% there and now a 'foreigner' meaning I presume not Thai ( because Thai's couldn't possibly could they) . Do these people know the whole world is watching them act like complete fools? Can you imagine what the victims families are thinking and how they are suffering? Someone somewhere is going to get away with this. Do they really think the guilty are still on the island waiting to be arrested?

No, they are most likely on the island, partying every night as usual! Spoke to a friend of mine, who lived and worked on Koh Tao for several years in the past. He said that beheadings and violent murders are a "standard" occurence on this island. Often victims are Burmese because nobody cares about them, unwanted competitor's businesses go up in flames, from time to time a bullet finds it way into a skull of a competitor unwilling to close down or sell. One day a headless victim was dragged around the island to the peer attached with a rope to the rescue boat, while tourists were swimming on Koh Tao's beaches. If there's a place to avoid when travelling in Thailand, Kidney Bean it is!

I too have heard many similar stories over the years..same in Samui and Phanghan..

Time for the Junta to clean up, but it will never happen..

  3. But the DNA??

So the female victim is raped by two Asian men, and this mysterious farang comes along and kills her and David??

Please, please Thai police keep your mouths shut!!

there must be some weird ***** going on on that island, sounds to me that they are now insinuating that the semen did not belong to the murderers and the sexual activity either happened before or after the murders

That what Clutchclark is trying to say,

he suggested they only raped them after death, didn't murder them...I find that crime equally as bad as the murder...But he seems to think it's ok...some sick puppies around here.

  4. I've got a bit lost in all the misreporting . . . Did the "influential family" ever actually give DNA samples? Or was the fact that they "said" the son was in Bangkok (allegedly) at the time reason enough NOT to bother with it?

Word is that his friends can vouch for him and he's seen on CCTV, so surely he's free to go..facepalm.gif

But why was he the suspect earlier...

Because the DNA is a 70% match to his Dad Mon, it is definitely a relation,,,but who?

Mon has two sons, that we know of...Does he have a few Mia Noi as well (kept girlfriend)

Is he offering a million baht reward just in case someone does get murdered in December..

The world needs to have their say with their feet their money and their power they have to find the truth via social media..We are the only hope to solve this cover up...

  5. This is what happens if you take a convicted pedo seriosuly, i told the whole forum he was a glory hunter from day one.

So it seems it's the reward offered by the public, which was 714,000 but has now been reduced to 700,000 after (expenses?) versus 1 million that says the family has done nothing wrong but hasn't supplied DNA....plus the undisclosed fee for private police to chase Sean into fear....maybe another 2 milll..

and another cop in dark sunnies looking just a little sus.pointing at a reward sign...but this is not the I didn't do it or I'll give you a million sign, this is the other one.....story just gets better..when will the official forensic reports reveal that Hannah was raped after she was SHOT and then attacked with a Hoe to cover the wounds and then raped after death...I have solid advice from those that know this is what happenned..photos prove it....where is the justice?

You should take this story to the police along with the name of the person you heard it from.

Or are you just blowing more smoke?

hahaaa,555 take it to the police....and a name.....ok, let's start, here i name Mon..I hear there is 70% dna analysis that he or his family was responsible...I'm talking facts...if there is such a thing here...now how many of the family have been tested..the world is watching Thailand..

  6. The 4th Army is everywhere, unfortunately the area is the domain of the immigration Department, migrant is immigration, so why aren't immigration handling this problem and also policing it, the army is a jack of all trades and a master of none, go figure.coffee1.gif

I hear the head of Immigration in Samui is the brother of one of the speedboat companies that service Koh Tao..I hope this will be patrolled and there are no more foreignors allowed to work illegally..

Great to know that social media as confusing as it is for them has managed to get them to realize that there are influential figures on the island...Far cry from there is no local mafia or the locals would have told us...

Just so you know, they are on all the islands in the area...but the locals have seen way too much blood over the years to dare talk to officials about it...Damn social media..ruining it for the gangsters...in and out of uniform.

  7. Like many clever people on TV first said, this case will never be solved. Look now. It will not be solved but the Thai olive will say that a "foreigner did it". And leave it with that. By the way, have they DNA tested the local policemen yet?

You mean the police at the station 50 yards from the scene,

Or the policeman standing next to mon in the crime scene photo who is his brother I hear..

Or the policeman in the photo next to Mon when they chased Sean?

It's a very fair question that needs to be answered...

Hopefully if the killers are never caught then the Junta will at least come in and get rid of all the illegal workers and the locals actually have to work to survive, and it will be avoided like the plague due to the reports on tripadvisor...

Damn social media, first they make it hard for the police and now they make it hard for the mafia..

  8. Before we start jumping all over the thai police let me ask one question.

How many murders go unsolved in your old country where they have all the latest equipment and training.

There are a couple of things to rmember.

1 KT is a back packers paradise because there is no police and it is a free and easy place.

That is good if you want to let loose but also makes life easy forsomeone that wants to do harm.

    2. because it is an island there is in actuality no way to stop boats fromleaving

Koh Tao does have police on the island there office is some 50 meters away from where the murders took place unless they have moved it since I was last there !

Yes and rumour has it that The police officer in uniform next to Mon at the crime scene is his brother...

Plus the guy on the right in the photo Sean posted is also Koh Tao police,

Can someone official or even unofficial confirm this please?

Ozzy, the 1 million was offered IF THEY COULD find any evidence to suggest that one of those family members were involved. NOT to say they didn't do it. Therefore, if the police wanted that money, it would be in their best interests to try and link the family to the murders. Gee, I wish people would read things correctly, before putting the wrong twist on things.

Read my post again, that is exactly what I said..

"versus 1 million that says the family has done nothing wrong,"

which would translate as prove us guilty and we'll give you a million...

Maybe I worded it badly but I understand this....

He offered a million if anyone can prove his family did it...Almost daring the police..

He offered no reward to find the killers..all he cares about is family and his money...They are scum and people reallly should boycott that place...it's pure evil..

But have they all had DNA tests or refused?

  10. It's common practice for police forces to make public appeals for information and to encourage results the request will indicate nothing is too trivial and everything will be checked. In practice this will involve an assessment and prioritisation for follow up.

The BIB are making it clear they will make an instant decision whether or not to follow up and if they don't like the source the info goes in the waste paper bin.

    Foreigners not not apply.

    Very professional.

There are few bad leads that shouldn't be examined, just leads that don't pan out. Unless a possible lead is clearly from a known nutcase or someone with no possibility of knowledge about the crime, it must be investigated at least somewhat. Yet even nutters can have a seed of truth in their ramblings.

McAnna may not have pin pointed the exact culprits, but there is a reasonable chance he has pin pointed people connected with the guilty.

Even if 'public' police statements rule them out, doesn't mean their circle of influence and their actions are not still under observation. I would find it useful to watch them after they think they got away scot free.

At least he has pin pointed the Mafia...because the police said there was no mafia or the people would have told them, well guess what, there is Mafia and the people have told you...Social media's not so bad after all...We'd have never known there were corrupt people and police on these islands...what a joke..

  11. You 2 are amazing. So the police should not be following up all possible leads? Most people believe this would have been pinned on some local patsy by now if it was not for all the foreign attention. Unfortunately it still might.

Now I will explain to you why the Press should direct information to the Police.

When the police get a tip from someone and they question the tipster they are looking for visual clues and possibly past know.edge of the credibility of the tipster in order to determine the legitimacy of what is reported. The tipster is also not usually well-rehearsed in his statement. The tipster is also able to provide information anonymously.

Contrast to when the news media receive a "tip" and then publish the tip. The tipster is no longer anonymous and so less likely to provide information. The tipster also has an opportunity to prepare for the police interview and even be swayed by what was reported in the media (which is never accurate). Or the tipster is never named by media sources and so the police spend more time following up than if they meet the tipster first hand and have the benefit of police questioning tactics.

    blah blah blah,

can you please answer the question I asked, I know it's a hard one I can't find an answer,

    but surely you can

Here is the question again, just so you don't avoid it again..

Can you list the thigs the police have done correctly in this case..

    Pretty simple question..awaiting your answer..

  12. After solving this case, Sean was right to leave the country asap. His life was in grave danger for exposing the truth.

As for the police rubbishing his story, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

I think the world now understands why no witnesses rushed forward!

    The truth? LOL

He said mafia threatened him with death!

That was clearly BS, why would they threaten some pedo loser instead of killing him right on the spot. Since they're the mafia they can do whatever they want on the island, which mafia would let you take a picture of them and let you surf on FB!

Do you have any compassion feelings for the victims here??? Or are you just trying to maintain your position...

2 people were murdered, there is forensic proof (supplied on Facebook by the police at the crime scene) that the poor soul Hannah was raped after being beaten to death, and you are defending who exactly?????

Do you think everyone in the area should submit to DNA testing or should the Poo Yai and his family be exempt ..after all they have a million baht that says they didn't do it...shame on you, shame shame shame....

  13. This is what happens if you take a convicted pedo seriosuly, i told the whole forum he was a glory hunter from day one.

  14. Calm down Ozzy. Half dozen comments in less than an hour is enough, give it a break.

Calm down? which of my posts do you have a problem with? The fact it took me ahour to go through this and add the truths and you have an issue with me??? Or do you have anything to add??? Or are you just throwing water trying to put the fire out...Got any facts to add? care to address the facts at hand...I won't calm down till there is some form of justice...This is corruption at its best...if people like me calm down this will slide under the carpet...Now is the time for all those who care and know what is really happening to stand up...not calm down..

  15. Would be interesting if a independent investigator from outside Thailand could come in to do a investigation. There is over 700,000 baht on offer to someone who can find the killer.

Added to that if one of the family members was guilty there would be an additional 1,000,000 Baht.

Your seriously think an independent investigator is going to risk his life for 35000 quid?

My thoughts exactly - i'm pretty sure, someone that frequents the AC bar, or they people connected to it knows something. But one thing is certain, of you go there as a "private investigator" trying to solve this case....stay clear of garden tools, and don't have a wet balcony :-)

Wow bounty hunters would be weighing it up...712,000 reward to find the killers/necrophilliacs who did this, or 1 million to prove the local mafia did it...

can see the ferry being full of bounty hunters..Time to boycott Koh tao till the whole family from AC bar take DNA tests...

  16. So did I get it correctly now. BiB took DNA swabs from all Burmese workers on the island, including the women. But they didn't swab the main suspects, including the son hiding in Bangkok?

You must have missed the fact no Thai could have done this!!! Unless they were in a bikini and acting like a provocative falang...who just happenned to be dead at the time they were raped...this crime is a disgrace...shame on you guilty fiends..

  17. Why post information on this forum that is incorrect? Where does it say anywhere that the "killers" threatened the Scottish guy?

    Tony,

Is it so difficult to keep up?? Really?

I suggest, instead of posting cr@p, just do a 30 minute read through of previous posts on this and related topics.

You will find all the answers you need and will avoid making yourself look like a muppet by posting nonsense.

I am off to bed now.

    Sad, sad but predictable news.

Will justice ever be served? Doubtful.

I admit there is a lot of crap posted and you certainly are included in the crap that's been posted. I asked you a simple question based on Your post and inaccurate statements and postings. You chose to dance around but cannot provide a direct answer. Instead, you suggest I read... I have and I still think you posted incorrect information and I think you are doing it because you believe all the news you read and then jump to conclusions. Relax, and next time you should consider what you post with respect to the news media on this horrific murder. You only add to the confusion by posting incorrect information. So, prove to me and the TV members that your allegations are accurate instead of telling me to go read everything. Because now the perception is that you never read it but instead conjured up this allegation through your own uninformed information.

So, let's try this one more time: Where does it say anywhere that the "killers" threatened the Scottish guy?

If you cannot or are not ready and able to back-up your statements then you certainly worth your weight in.....

Gentlemen, gentlemen. I thought this confusion was already adresssed and cleared up some time ago?

The Scottish guy Sean MacAnna posted the pictures saying he was threatened, and if he would die this would be the (his) killers. He did not say they were the killers of Hannah and David.

Actually, the posts on Facebook by Sean said...

Owner of AC bar did it..

Whether he was talking about the fact he thought he was about to be hung or whether he thought the owner committed the murders is only for Sean to share,

    just sharing the facts..

  18. If this guy they've caught is so innocent, then why was he running by the crime scene, in just shorts/underwear at that time in the morning? - very suspicious I'd say. Also, perhaps he was only wearing shorts because the rest of his clothes were covered in the blood of the victims, and he had to get rid of them?

who was running by the crime scene? - the son? or the brother??? - who in your thoughts?

The jackass that was at the crime scene and in Sean McAnna's photo he posted on Facebook.

Nah that's not him running i think, it's his son..I believe there are 2 sons in bkk one was at Uni? the other is still wanted!!!

  19. Now, let's get this straight - The main suspect was very well known on the island AND,
    1. Was stood next to the bodies in the middle of the crime scene chatting to the police.
    2. Has been identified as the mystery man on the CCTV footage.
    3. Threatened the Scottish guy whilst in the company of a plain clothes policeman.
    4. Refused to give a DNA sample.
    5. Most probably threatened the cops that took him in
    6. It took 8 days to bring him in!!
    7. Was released without charge AND without giving a DNA sample
    You couldn't make this up.

    Not quite correct...

Point !. standing next to his brother the local policeman..

    Point 5...not threatened, paid..

Point 8..His son is still wanted will he arrive and provide a DNA sample?
