  1. Many comments regarding Air Quality, living South of C-Mai we do not suffer from that problem.

    even during smoky season ?

I live in Chiangmai for more than 10 years, every February and March I work (outside, no in a office with air-con) and go to run and/or play football afterwork as usual, no any problems at all.... :-))

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

  2. There is a barber shop down near Chiang Mai Gate, on the intersection that leads back into the old town, just around from the market. There is a small one way system before it becomes 2 way. Like a previous post, take a photo of what you want. Average haircut 60 baht.

I get a flat top and all was good from first visit. never go anywhere else now.

Now haircut is 70Baht for Thai or resident, 100Baht for "tourist"

  3. I already see the new Tuk-Tuk, maybe useful for tourist, but not for resolve the problem of the traffic in Chiangmai. Chiangmai is growing quite fast and became a "city", this mean, need to improve the public transport service as other city around the world, with real public bus, real taxi meter, light skytrain and more.

  4. I've never been to Italy, but I've been told the pizza in Italy doesn't taste at all like the pizza in the U.S. That may be what the OP is looking for and he's going to be disappointed here, although Duke's is close to American-style pizza.

I have visited Italy many times, even been to the city of Pizza. Thought I would try a pizza while I was there, Sorely disappointed. I guess I prefer those American style deep dish pizzas ... tongue.png

For those of you who have never been to Italy, but would like to know what real authentic Italian pizza tastes like, I can save you a trip. This is how to do it.

    - 1st step: take delivery pizza in a box.

    - 2nd step: vigorously shake box up and down, so that approximately 25% of the sauce and cheese adheres to the inside of the lid.

3rd step: rip off the lid and flip over 180 deg, so sauce and cheese is now facing up.

4th step: take the lid to an open burner on a gas stovetop, and excessively char and blacken the cardboard lid.

Last step: sit down and eat your authentic tasting Italian pizza.

The origin of the Pizza come from Italy, in America the change it follow American's taste. Now, the matter is simply, are 2 different style, some people prefer the original ( that truly in Chiangmai nobody make ), and others prefer the American's style. However, talk about the Italian, even in Italy, every restaurant has his personal style, so, is very hard to say which is better.....just eat what you like.

  5. The best Sunday buffet in Chiangmai is at Dhara Devi, but of course, is also the most expensive, however, if you look what they offer...wow...is amazing.

Just for give you an idea, Canadian Lobster, Fois Gras, Fresh seafood, cold cuts, and much much more.

  6. Chez Marco is perfect, good quality, reasonable price and "easy" place for spend a dinner with family and friends. If you look for something "special", I suggest "La Favola" (Italian restaurant inside LeMeridien Hotel), maybe the best Italian restaurant in Chiangmai at the moment.

  7. Good to know. On the inside of the moat, near Jok Somphe

Driving from Huay Kheo Rd. is just after PTT, about 200 meters before Chiang Puak Gate, inside the small Soi where there is Samsung office ( big sign in blue color ) on the corner.

( I am sorry, I don't know exactly the name of the Soi ).

  8. Let me say right up front that I have no connection with The Dukes beyond that fact that I've been eating there a few times a month for some years now and have always liked it, the food and the service.

Here's my story. I just got home a few weeks ago from five weeks of travel with my wife in Rome and Tuscany. The purpose of the trip was pleasure, and a big part of the pleasure we sought and found was in trying a wide range of Italian food and wine.

We like pizza, but when it comes to the kind of food we want to eat in Italy, pizza is not high up on the list. As a result ,we had pizza only perhaps four or five times while we were there. That said, two of the places we went to, one in Rome and one in Florence, are quite famous locally for their pizza, and frequently have long lines of people waiting to get in.

So guess what? The pizza I had in Italy was good, yes, sometimes even great, but every time, at every place, I kept thinking to myself that the pizza at The Dukes is better. Seriously. And not just a little better. Quite a bit better.

I am grateful we have The Dukes in Chiangmai. Oh, and not just for the pizza either, which I love, yes, but don't eat there all that much, compared with other dishes.

[David, I'll send you my bank account information separately. :) ]

Well, all depend if you like pizza "US style" or "Italian Style".

Are different, especially for the topping, can not compare.

  9. Using "black pipe" solution, is suitable if you take shower in day time until late afternoon, until still have sun and the water still heat by the sun. If you have to take shower in the evening or in the early morning, using the pipe is not suitable, due no have insulation and the water temperature drop quite fast, so need a conventional solar water system with insulated tank ( of course, more expensive solution compare with black pipe ).
