  1. Hi you all.

Here are the basics. I am British, My son,11 years old British/Thai. My Wife Thai. Married 16 years, lived in Thailand 16 years. I pay UK tax, have National insurance number,UK banks etc. My wife has a 10 year UK visa, which allows her to stay 6 months a year in UK.

Next year we want to get our son into a Secondary school in the UK. We have this organized ok.

We cannot afford to buy a house, nor can we show the 70K+ savings to get my wife a full stay visa.

We have accommodation fixed up to start it all rolling.

    Bottom line:

After my son starts school is there any way she could get an extension to stay, based on the welfare of the child?

We do have a plan if its not possible, but somewhere i read once about extensions based upon compassionate grounds for the child's welfare.

Thanks to read this far, life in the land of (false) smiles interesting indeed

    all the best

    P

  2. So Junta bad for economy, but good for the happy few,Thaksin bad for a lot of farang (why I don't know) but good for economy...

There are many foreigners who have a partner from the north east that think Yingluck and Thaksin are wonderful.

They WHERE good for Thailand, its the Change that they would create that gave the rich the Sh***Ts

  3. It seems to me that Thai visa has a unique opportunity to represent expats and to try to get a better deal from immigration. Now I don't really know just how many subscribe to Thai visa, buts its a lot. So how about Thai visa organising a an OPEN LETTER to our dear new Leader.

An open letter to be publish in the most prominent news papers, at least a quarter page, in Both Thai and English.

The cost must come from all the Expats,Thai visa would arrange payments from every one to cover the news paper slots.Maybe a 1000 baht each??

The open letter should address the following points

    * Unacceptable waiting and and general conditions at Immigration offices

    * To discontinue the 90 day alien report

    * Start issuing two/three year visas for folks working here, who contribute to Thailand's Progress

    * Start issuing longer term Visas for folks who have been here over 10 years, family, house, a life.

    * Is it right professional people be expected to start queuing at 04,00 hrs in the morning, just to have a chance being seen that day.

Well Im sure there are lots of problems involved, non the least politics?? Maybe they would lock us up

    Happy new year
