The 1 week alcohol abstain  rule was mentioned twice in my  30 minute observation room session plus when given our next appointment date.

Talking about “fake news”? Well I have just been in the same facility and there was no mention and nothing said when handing out the second date.

Here's just one item from thousands:

“The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) - the body that approved both the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine and the Pfizer/Moderna vaccine for use - has stated that “there is currently no evidence that drinking alcohol interferes with the efficacy of the Covid-19 vaccines. We would advise anyone concerned about this to talk to their healthcare professional.”” (Independent, 4 May 2021)

Oh, and two or three days is (sorry, are) not a week...................

After the jab had a very slight headache in the night that was gone by morning, plus just a heads up but no alcohol for 1 week after the jab.

The 'no alcohol' is not official at all. It's not mentioned at the hospital and there are many uotes from (eg) UK saying drinking has no effect one way or the other before or after (unless you get so p1sed you can't recognise any symptoms).

I think many TV readers might forgo getting vaccinated if they thought a week off was compulsory!

However, advice at Phyathai 2 that "you may go swimming after two days" was, in the circumstances, just taking the [deleted].

  3. Province: BKK

    Date: 1 July

Location (name of hospital or other) Phyathai 2

Are you over 60/chronically ill? (Yes/No) over 60

How did you register? intervac website

    Vaccination received (yes/no) Y

If yes,  Type of vaccine : AZ

First off, I needed to change the date given to me (which had been June 29) and the (very good) English-speaking lass on the phone was very helpful, called me back in 20 min with a new date.

It all looks like chaos in there but actually works surprisingly well; 30 min from entering to needle. My blood pressure was high (it always is in hospitals) but after a quick discussion among themselves they let me proceed. The 30min after-wait took 45, but no drama.

I did notice, to my surprise, that most others were distinctly under-60.

No apparent after-effects as           (and here the pathetic message ends............................)

That piece states: "An analysis by Public Health England (PHE), where the Delta variant is more widespread, found that both the Pfizer/BioNTech and AstraZeneca (AZN.L) vaccines provide more than 90% protection against hospitalization from the Delta variant. read more"

Is that what you are trying to point to?

I am IN North East Thailand where I have been for the last 20 plus years.

Who has said about whether you want it or not and Embassy involvement?

    READ THE POST PROPERLY

I stated I had friends who work in Bangkok and who have businesses in Bangkok who had told me, that regardless of press announcements that Nobody is safe until everybody is safe, they were being selective there and selecting Thais first.

That is also something that has also been reported on TVF by a thread of Sheryl, one of the moderators.

So my comments are based IN Thailand.

Hope that clarifies where I am.

Great. Enjoy yourself up in the northeast. I'll take my chances in BKK where I have been for 25+ years.  Thanks for the note.

You must have read of the personal data breach, right?

I repeat: what are you on? I have an appointment (and I know full well it might not materialise) for next week to get a vaccine. I have given them my age and my passport (incidentally, via a fairly sophisticated set of software) and they have asked nothing more.

BTW those details are available to authorities in any of the 57 countries I have been with that passport.

What data breach, I ask in all innocence?

The only disturbing news I am getting from friends in Bangkok is that they are coming up against a wall of " Thais first " which I find ridiculous.

If that is the case it is because of the trickle down effect of xenophobic and nationalistic verbal assaults on TV from certain people in government.

It needs reporting to Embassies if this is the case, as this will be taken very seriously and passed on up the chain to Western leaders, who are supplying South East Asia with technology,  science and surplus vaccines.

Evidence for this? And where are you?

Like many others actually IN Thailand, I have a jab scheduled.

Whether I want it is not something the embassy would not get involved in.

  8. Hardly boosts confidence in the jabs programme - Australia "will shelve the controversial AstraZeneca vaccine by October, suggesting it will have enough supplies of other vaccines to meet “allocation horizons” for vaccinating the population by the end of the year." - Guardian (https://www.theguardian.com/business/2021/jun/23/australia-plans-to-shelve-astrazeneca-covid-vaccine-by-october)

So what they seem to be saying is 'as soon as we have something less dubious, we'll use that instead, but please continue to get the rubbish jab in the meanwhile'.

What I know or care about all these potions you could write on a pinhead with a pneumatic drill, but I'm due to get an AZ jab next week. What am I supposed to think or do? [that's a rhetorical question, folks....]

You wonder why there is "vaccine hesitancy" around the world, let alone here?

If you do not follow the Tourism news and who works in this sector or the types of people that would be in the millions then I feel sorry for you.  You also have all of the street vendors and such that are part of that 20% plus group.

I used to work at a (no <deleted>) very high level in regional tourism. I know what I'm talking about  it's all of you I doubt. I don't need your sorrow either.

Because it feeds a lot of people and families and the effect on loss of tourisme is bigger then they ever thought . If 80% of a cake is being eaten by 4 persons and the other 20% is feeding 1.000.000 people then they have to keep that 20% in tact because those 4 people won't share . If the 80% of that cake would have been hit as hard as the 20% , believe me then everybody would have been vaccinated in no time .

So who are these million people? In the 'informal' sector not paying taxes etc?

Remember also that the 20 percent includes domestic as well as international tourism.

The government only knows of what a receipt is generated.  After I spend time in Thailand there are many thousands of dollars spent but very few receipts.

So you're saying spending by long-termers is below the line? Well in that case, it's still being spent as most long-termers are still here (albeit spending rather less because of the restrictions).
