  1. My neice has a situation. Her father is a british national living and working in Thailand without a work permit. Her mother is from Indonesia. Cassi was born last year in thailand and gained a british passport through my application at the embassy. My bro still has no work permit and is having to pay for visas every 30 days etc. He is having a hard time. I advised that he should not send his wife and daughter to the border every month, only he should go. The max fine is 20k so if he waits a year or so then pays the fine when they go to jakarta all will be ok......? comments please

  2. Phuket Gazette:

    British Ecstasy dealer jailed

    ...

“Based on the large size of the bottle, I actually think he smuggled in about 1,000 pills. We also found a lot of other drug paraphernalia in his room,” said the officer.

Crosby today began serving his sentence at Phuket Provincial Prison, where he has been in custody since his arrest, the court having denied his attempts to get bail.

The time already served since his arrest more than 17 months ago will not be deducted from his sentence.

Sounds like he had it coming to him. Id say this wasnt a newbie so he was probably not doing this the first time. Hope he enjoys his extended stay!!

  3. 3 years ago, Thaksin said Thailand was going to be the gem & jewellery hub of Asia

Looks more like it's going to be the arrest and deport hub

......... it's been well on it's way to that for at least the last four and a half years (since TRT came to power).

I think Taksin has done a great job with thailand, hes put the country on the map, who would you preffer to lead the country? Not that its your place to vote anyway!!

  4. This is quite a problem I remember 8 years ago (1996/7) on silom when it flooded so fast that cars were floating into eachother. Hope its not going to be the same. I thought the storm was going to stop as energy drops over land. Fingers crossed its just another smoggy day in the City :o

  5. SET to launch television channel

BANGKOK: -- Financiers, investors and anyone with an interest in the Thai economy and money markets will soon get a specially dedicated television channel, thanks to a new initiative by the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET).

Announcing the launch of the satellite-based Money Channel yesterday, Mr. Ratchaphol Laowanich from Family Know-How Co. Ltd. said that the SET had asked his company to produce Thailand's very first channel dedicated exclusively to financial and economic matters.

The channel, a joint project between the SET and Channel 5 TV, will be officially launched on 29 April to mark the SET's 30th anniversary.

Based on the concept of 'all about your money', the channel's programmes will focus on the movements of the economy and money markets.

Likening the channel to a friend able to give simple and interesting financial advice, Mr. Ratchaphol said that the information presented would be up-to-date, interesting and easy to understand.

The channel will target the general public, rather than producing heavy reports for economists.

This sounds like it may be a good channel. Do you know if it will have an english language audience in mind? The set has kind of bashed my head in latley. Do any of you believe it will hit 800 this coming year?
