  1. The real sadness is we're not allowed to criticise their Stone Age beliefs for fear of being Islamophic, and so it goes on, and will do until we say religion is as offensive as Nazism is. It will all be forgotten in a week, just like the poor children blown up in Manchester. British media are much more interested in migrant welfare at Grenfel Tower!

Not to mention the countless Muslim doctors, nurses, first responders, police officers and other professionals currently engaged in dealing with this atrocity. Islamophobic haters are just doing the terrorists' bidding, although they're too dim to realise it.

No need to say how many are living here. We know there are countless numbers of them. What a lot of people feel is if they'd never been allowed in, the parents of those poor children would be able to hold them close tonight.

  3. Compared to Canada's public education, I find the private international schools far superior here but I guess it depends which school. In Canada public schools are suffering severe cut backs, closures and classes are over crowded. Teachers are under paid and often strike which ruins any plans for summer holidays. The cost of private schools in Thailand is expensive but not as expensive as in Singapore or Malaysia. Life in Thailand is good with warm weather and cheap cost of living. Canada is cold and wet most of the time and I guess UK is the same. My 2 highest expenses in Thailand are tuition fees and medical insurance. In Canada my highest expense would be tax and food. That said, I'll still be sending my child to a University in Canada, US or UK.

I don't think you can just 'send' your child to university in the UK without living there for a few years previously. My British friend with his half Thai daughter tried to go this route but was informed he'd have to be living back in the UK for a few years beforehand. Anyone else confirm this?
I think you have to be in the UK for 5 years, otherwise your child is treated as an international student and will have to pay international fees.
  4. Like for like, private or government schools, the U.K. is miles better than Thailand. You can't compare education between 1st and 3rd world countries. That's why a lot of expats go home after all. I've looked at the syllabus for the local primary school at home, and it's a lot more comprehensive than what's on offer in Thailand. In fact, in the 20 years since the English program began here they still don't even have a syllabus! Furthermore, teachers are far more professional. Who would you prefer teaching your child, a university and pgce qualified teacher or a Filipino / Johnny sexpat?

  5. I've been here for 13 years, but have decided life would be better in the UK. My main reason is also for my daughter's education, but I also miss friends and family back home. I try not to let politics bother me wherever I am, and I've had a good job here. However, I really miss the outdoor lifestyle of back home. Too hot for walks outside and never enjoyed playing golf here for this reason. I like the Thai people, but they can keep the mosquitos. Always been impossible to sit in the garden and enjoy a beer coz of the little blighters! One regret is not going last year. I didn't know the visa was going up from £800 to £1500 including the new NHS surcharge of £675. Visa now over two grand! Ouch!

  6. We are part of the ape family. In fact only a single chromosome from a chimpanzee. That's why hundreds of youths can set upon a single kid without conscience, and why billions of people believe in sky Gods with no evidence. It's the way we are, I'm afraid, and it's not just Thais. Sadly, it seems like most people have just about enough intelligence to open their mouths to put food in it, but little else.

  7. I don't understand how western governments say we are at war with radical Islam on the one hand, and on the other think it's a good idea to allow millions of Muslims to come to Europe. It doesn't make sense. This is a religion with ideas incompatible with western culture, and surely these atrocities will only multiply the more we fill our cities with Islamic ghettos. What is also galling are people on this forum and Facebook who say "pray for Brussels" and "God bless those affected" when religion is the root cause of the problem!

  8. This is why we must leave the EU and take control of our borders. It's funny how the scaremogerers warn of chaos if the UK leaves, but it doesn't exactly look like the EU have it all under control. in reference to the headline, Greece will only start trying to control the flow if there is a threat the migrants being stuck there, coz at the moment they are happy to shepherd them on to Germany then through to Calais. It's all we need, a huge influx of Muslims.

  9. A Third World War was never going to be between nations. We are in the middle of it right now, a battle of ideas between religion and enlightenment. It took over 100 years to reach a secular majority we have now in Britain and its going to take many more to discredit the Islamic threat, but it has begun, and they will lose eventually, evolution dictates it.

  10. Touched a nerve there. Okay, an ex sexpat! In truth I've not met a single 'teacher' in Thailand who'd meet the requirements to teach in the UK, but that said, there are very few students here that deserve them. Everyone knows a qualified native teacher, having spent years studying at uni, wouldnt come and teach here for 30k, and even if they did, it wouldn't change matters. English to the Thais is seen as something akin to woodwork class back home. A doss!

  11. Is it possible to get the non-o multiple entry based on marriage, by showing a savings lump-sum rather than an income? I have the 400,000, but not in Thailand. Ps I don't want a single entry then take money to Thailand to "show"

If you apply at the embassy in London you do not need any financial proof to get the multiple entry non-o based upon marriage.

The info on the embassy website (same for Hull) is not correct.

I'd prefer to not leave the country every 90 days, though
