  1. My friends come to visit every year for about 70 days.

Normally they get a 90 day visa but now they are told by the uk embassy only 60 days or a multiple entry.

    60 days is to short

Multiple is 145 pounds plus 10 pounds to put it in your passport Each

Does anyone known if you can still extend a 60 day for another 10 days and how much.

    All help would be appreciated.

  2. I used to go to a tailors at the far end of Walking St.

Went there for 21 years then he retired and his sons took over.

The standard dropped by 70% and they were rude

Still looking for a good tailor who makes clothes as YOU want them not the way they think that they should be made

    IE. As cheap as possible,

    Farangs will accept any rubbish.

    Well not this farang.

  3. Fetal position.

    It always works with bears.

Well, according to Google Images, this is the fetal position:

    attachicon.gif222.jpg

Now I don't know what you would do, but I'm 100% sure that I would not adopt that position cheesy.gif

Well it is the position that protects the most vulnerable areas of your body.

BUT a ladyboy could view it as an invitation to other ladyboy sports.

I think that I would rather be kicked to death.

No I'm sure that I would rather be kicked to death.

  4. Barry Upton mentioned at an expat meeting something about government doing some shady dealings???

Now I would never, never believe that the government would something. shady.:o:o:o:lol::D

    Stupid yes:blink: but not shady

  5. Looking to kill a day just sight seeing. I haven't been to the Buddhal mountain in almost ten years now. Is there a way to get there without a tour? I typically don't rent a scooter on my holidays

I took the wife there on a rainy day last year, well you have to spoil them now & again.

On arrival there were NO other vehicles at all

    Just 2 massive car parks

I stopped in the middle of the coach park where you get the best view.

We had been sat there for 2 to 3 minutes when a little man in a big raincoat came over through the rain and told us that we were not a coach and we would have to leave.

    Only us there.

I think he was frustrated because he didn't have a whistle.

    Good customer relations.

    So we left.

Now he had no vehicles to spoil his day.

  6. Only had 2 occasions to use the fire brigade in Thailand.

Once at my home at the top of Nernplabwan.

Called them because some idiot was burning grass just over my wall, the flames were 3 ft from my roof.

When the fire service arrived they only had a wagon no water and 1 man.

He came to see if it needed a proper pump.

The second was in isan out side Udon thani.

My house cought fire (Good Thai wiring) and burnt down.

It took the fire service 25 minutes to come 8 kilometers because they don't keep water in the engines tank and have to fill it before they start off.

They said that if they left it full it would damage the tyres.

My house was a compleat loss.

  7. Why not build your tank near the pond but high up say 6 or 7 meters up so when needed you could take a petrol powered removable pump to too it.

This way gravity will do the delivery for you.

And you can not get Robbed

  8. Our mains water supply went off again.

No real problem as we have a tank.

But out side our gate wearer is running day and night.

We have reported it several times but when they come out they say it's not there leak.

Well when the mains water goes off the water leak stops.

It's not rocket science but they have a problem understanding !!!.

Yes this a third world nation.

Over 5 years now, just think how much water has been lost.

And then you caused more damage than the crash did.

If it's inconvenient for other cars, tuff let them wait.

    People first.

Advice, take a first aid course.

In the UK you can not be prosecuted for tiring to help if you are NOT trained.

You CAN be prosecuted if you are trained and make a mistake causing more injury.

I have been trained in first aid and I stated previously not to remove a crash helmet. I dragged people out of cars because the car was so smashed you couldn't open the door. In one case I had to unbolt the driver's seat because the guy was wedged between the steering wheel and the seat. But in each case I made sure that I wasn't moving someone who had fractured their back or pelvis. When there's a tankful of gas leaking all over the road decisions need to be made and everyone I dragged out of a car could walk after I got them out.

The first time I dragged people out of a car was when I was nine years old because no one could get inside to free the people's legs. My father was a paramedic he was off duty at the time.

Every situation is different and actions have to be assessed and modified to suite.

These comments were of a general nature directed to any one that felt that they wanted to help.

Not as a critecism directed directly at you.

More severe injuries have been caused by well meaning helpers than you would believe.

Everyone should take a first aid course or periodic refresher course, including me.

But now I'm probably to old.

  10. Regardless of the law or being sued most of the accidents you will come across involve severe head injury from not wearing a helmet.

There is basically nothing you can do in this situation except wrap a bandage around the head and most people don't walk around with bandages.

I've pulled a few people out of crashed cars but their injuries were not immediately life threatening but they could have been bleeding internally.

The reason I believe Thais don't want you to get involved is that they feel they are controlling the situation and they don't want anyone to interfere.

If I see an accident I always stop and see if the person is breathing and if they are I leave the Thais to it

  11. When I was in the UK I was qualified to instructor leavel in First Aid.

Through my job and with the agreement with the police I attended 30 + serious road accidents on the motorway per year for over 30 years.

    Retired to Thailand..

On seeing an accident up country I stopped, other drivers already there, and I was going to see if I could help but all the other drivers told me to leave saying "the police will say it's your fault"

The reason given was "you farang- you have insurance"

    So I left.

Don't know if I could have helped but I do carry a full First Aid kit, present from my company when I retired.

I have thought on the situation many times and I can not decide if I would change my actions if a similar situation happends again.

    If in UK 100%

    In Thailand ????

Also I needed to re qualify every 3 years so my certification is 6 years out of date.
