Thailand is also much more expensive with hotels charging very high rates and then adding service charges VAT and local room tax increasing prices by a hugh 19%. Not to mention the disgraceful way tourists presently being treated with scam Insurance polices suspicious Positive PCR tests enforced auarantine Baht 10,000 per day with cash payment in advance not recoverable from the insurance if no medical treatment required and increased airfares in particular to Samui where you are now charged extra for baggage seat allocation etc not small amounts exceeding Baht 1,000 for baggage each way, departure tax Baht 1,000 Samui/BKK airports and it goes on and on

There is no enthusiasm from Government to allow entry into Thailand without conditions they just make noises that they are to placate the tourist industry meanwhile Thailand will lose out to other nearby countries that are allowing unrestricted entry

Thailand including Thai Airways has lost credibility its fleet has been reduced to old outdated Air Craft very expensive to operate so there is no way they can get back the routes and respect they had prior to the Pandemic they are charging double fares of other airlines with modern fleets and owe so many customers money for cancelled flights. The same applies to the Thai Tourism as a whole.

Thai Tourism industry in its fragile state is shooting its self in the foot. It is better to close the borders and stop all these scams. There are now plenty of countries allowing entry without restrictions until Thailand can do likewise and treat Tourists with the respect they deserve it is better to keep borders closed

It looks lije there is far more Omicron infections in Thailand than reported as it is so infectous nearly everyone will be infected from local transmissions thus restrictions on incoming foreigners no longer necessary if they have negative PCR within 72 hours before entering Thailand.

Reality is that Omicron is now present in Thailand and likely to infect everyone. There is no point in restricting foreigners entering the country except they are likely to be infected with Omicron from local transmission so make a decision either open or keep the borders closed this is the only decision required of the Government. There must also be a liability of selling Covid insurance which did not cover expenses of many incarcerated in expensive hospitals needing no actual medical attention.

Omicron is almost certainly well established in Thailand thus any visitors are more likely to be infected from Thai Population the best way to reopen the country js without quarantine or any other requirements except Fully vaccinated and negative PCR before arrival. Tracking apps and PCR tests after arrival should be avoided.

Good Luck recommend you get PCR test to confirm you are not positive and again the mandatory PCR before departure and that you are lucky not to sit close to anyone who subsequently tests positive. Bear in mind you have a very high chance of contracting Omricron whilst in Thailand
