  1. Thanks for your reply, as I read what your stating I believe that the next year extension requirement of 65K does not qualify me since I've applied for retirement visa twice previously but since we still hold residence in the US my monies is partially going to US bank. I then went back to the US for almost a year before returning now to find out about all these new rules. I will change my other monies to come to my Thai bank but until then I need to stay for an extended time since we are building a home here and will take from 8 to 10 months.

Am I right for thinking I am disqualified for the extension on the one month or two month 65K in Thai bank ?

The police order amending the policy still disqualifies me if I am reading correct since I've been retired for 6 years now.

However on the latter part where you state that I could get a Non O visa in Savannakhet with a US marriage certificate, I could do this since I do have our US marriage certificate.

Any other requirements I should know about for this visa besides photos, passport, house book and 20K in Thai bank ?

How long is that Non O visa for 30, 60 or 90 days ?

I think I will do the Thai marriage visa after the house is complete and think by then I will have 12 months of consecutive 65K to Thai bank too.

Appreciate the help, didn't want to have to fly back to US since have so many things going here with the house right now.

  2. I have a USA 90 day Non O visa and recently went through the process of going to Chiang Mai US Consulate to find out that they had changed the rules about not issuing a proof of income verification any longer. After reading the Immigration website new rules I took a trip to Nan Immigration with all income information, passport, photos, bank book to learn that now Immigration requires 12 consecutive months of 65,000 Bath to a Thai bank not combined with an outside bank in US.

I've previously had retirement visas in Thailand a couple of years ago and never over stayed. My Non O visa expires June 9th, 2019, have an onward ticket scheduled for November 2019. I have a Thai bank book that receives partial monies monthly and the other monies to a US bank.

I have been reading here on the forum that you could get a 90 day visa in Savannakhet, Laos but clear on the requirements. I have a marriage certificate from abroad US but not in Thailand, have the 20K in Thai Bank, have a valid passport and photos, have a copy of house book here in Thailand. Can anyone share what else will I need for a visa in Laos, this is my first time doing a visa run.

And what other options are available ?

Appreciate your help, Thanks in advance.

  3. Today I visited Nan Immigration to get a new retirement visa and after going to Chiang Mai US Consulate to finding out that they will not verify income any longer, I took the trip to Nan Immigration thinking that having all income information to meet 65K Baht requirements and a letter from Thai bank showing 50% of my income there and the other 50% in a US bank it would be sufficient. No So!

After haggling back and forth with the Immigration officer I requested they show me the regulation that explains the requirement according to Thai Immigration Law and it states clearly that you must have either 800K Baht or 400K with partial retirement income or 65K monthly income to a Thai bank for at least 12 months.

Even with having prior retirement visas in Thailand the Nan Immigration office would not issue me a retirement visa leaving me with the option of renewing a Non O visa by going to Laos or adjacent countries returning and applying for another 90- day Non O visa.

The immigration officer also informed me that a (Non A) type of visa is available for a one year stay but when I ask the Thai consulate in the US they told me the longest period for a visa was only 90 day Non O.

I had read a thread here in this forum that provided wrong information about the 65K monthly income which could be combined with an outside of Thailand bank which is not the case. So, if your trying to get a retirement visa using the 65K Baht a month income you must show 12 months of income coming to a Thai Bank.
