  1. Does anyone know of any hotels near Bumrungrad Hospital that are easily accessible for a disabled person.I'm going there for surgery and need to find a hotel close by.As for easily accessible I mean not having to climb a lot of stairs to get inside.I walk with 2 canes and it takes forever to get up a flight of stairs. The less stairs the better. Thanks in advance

  2. All expats,Please check your stamps immediately after they hand you back your passport. I went to Nong Khai and exited the country for my 90 day stamp on a non-o last April. I assumed I got my regular stamp for another 90 days. Iwas a happy camper as I was set until I left for US on June 6th. As I was going through immigration at BKK airport on June 6th the immigration officer took my passport and started smiling as if he had won the lottery." It seems as if we have an overstay here", he says. The officer at Nong Khai for some reason or other stamped my passport only for 30 days. Therefore my stamp was only good until May . I tried to show the officer the non-o visa and the new 90 day stamp, which did not exist, but he did't seem to want my help. After a few tense minutes he found the problem and corrected it. I breathed a sigh of relief and went on to board my flight. From now on I will always check my stamps.

  3. Sorry, the 1,845 is baht or around $45 USD. And yes, I think all the doctors require the the tests. My consultation was on Monday afternoon and surgery was scheduled for 10AM the next morning. I had to be at the hospital at 8:30 AM. This schedule was pre-arranged before I arrived. However, although I knew the surgery was going to be the next day, it wasn't until my consult that I knew the time.  Also as an FYI, there was hardly any pain with this procedure, controlled if I felt some discomfort with Tylenol. I found that surprising.

    Marcia

Hi Marcia, I didn't know the surgery would be done under local anesthesia. I thought that a person would be put to sleep, general. Or do i have the two confused? If you were awake for all this, they had to numb you up a heck of a lot. Did you have a choice of anesthesia?Actually how long did the procedire last? Thanks for the info.

  4. That's correct. Dr. Amorn charged me 175,00 baht, but I knew he was more going in. The EKG and blood tests cost an additional $1845 baht. He costs more but I feel he is worth the extra cost, although I'm sure the other doctors are extremely competent as well. I stayed in the hospital 2-1/2 days. I chose not to stay on-site but near by at a hotel as I was with a friend and we wanted to tour, etc. If I was going by myself, I'd stay at the hospital facility right next to the hospital. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    marcia

Thanks for the info Marcia.I assume the blood tests and the EKG are required with all the Dr.s, yes? Sorry but I could't tell if the cost was 1845 baht or $1845.Just wondering how many days after the inital consultation did you have the surgery. Thanks

  5. I went to Dr. Amorn Poomee. You can read his credentials on the Bumrungrad website. His wife is his assistant and their English is very good.

    Marcia

Marcia, what was the cost of the surgery and how long did it take? How many nights did you have to stay and how much were the cost for extra nights or did you stay somewhere else close by?I'm considering a mid-face and neck lift ,the same as you.I read Dr. Armone's credentials but the website said the 1222,000 baht quoted may not apply to him doing the surgery.

I'm sorry, the cost quoted was 122,000 baht.My apology.

Sorry about the misspelling guys.I intended for you to know I am a statistic.I am not thinking up to par these days.

  8. 350T,, I don't see what is so strange about the body laying for 3 days,,they all do that everywhere I have been in Thailand, Just another excuse for them to make a lot of noise thru cheap speakers, set in the streets and obstruct traffic, get drunk and party.

Don't they do that where you live,or is it that you do not live in Thailand and have no idea of the customs here but just like to show your ass? :o

    Well said Kevin N

  10. Many of us, such as myself come to this forum as a way to interact with other Farang (I hate the expression expatriate) to speak to knowledgeable people in the political and cultural arena, and in most cases to learn how we can help one another from our immigration experiences and stay within the new requirements of Thai Immigration laws.

However, of late I notice that the DEA, Australian Law Enforcement Agencies and countless other foreign and domestic Law Enforcement agencies trolling on this forum.

I have nothing to hide so I must chuckle at their attempts to get people to "call David's number" get someone to accompany them on a date in Bangkok, while they post from Chang Mai, and yet others that state "this is a fact" yet offer no other information. Not to mention those that “cry for help from Koan Kaen” and offer no apparent further response.

For all of you that live here, we know that the 14 days after a Thai arrest are for the benefit or investigation and that is what is surely going on. They seem to have little and are looking for friends, accomplices or collaborators in the alleged acts and are even resorting to spoofing email to forum members in hopes of getting more wood for their particular fire.

How do I know this? I can best explain in that I retired from the Law Enforcement field and after twenty years (16 of which were abroad) acquired a knowledge of such methods.

I also want to add that I wish everyone on this forum well and not be concerned even though these so-called “Investigators” can read your IP number when you post and can track you down to you home. Some of you surely remember that you had to provide a Passport page when registering with CSLoxinfo or other Internet Service Providers.

For those guilty of preying on children, I refuse to accept your behavior although such acts would have been normal 2,000 years ago and I hope that you burn in ######!!!

For those Law Enforcement types out there watching us and keeping the flames stoked, I suggest that you do your job and leave the judging to the Judges and stick to gathering facts rather than trying to discredit someone on the Internet and through our Forum. Allow the peers of the accused to judge them based on evidence and not rumors and innuendoes created by you and your somewhat zealous collaborators.

For those of you that are accused of a crime, I reserve my judgement cause I truly believe a person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt and sentenced so by a Judge and or Jury.

There! I have said my two cents worth and will now shut up.

WEll Mr. Mouse , this that cry for help from Khon Kaen.I gave further info on my situation only to have it erased and lastlyput 6 feet under by the Admin.,after defending a comment by a certain member that he should have saved for a more appropriate thread. This no troll, but I guess you are a superior judge of character by means of modem. And yes,at least there wa 1 person inquisitive enough and kind enough to try to help me.Perhaps you should take a good look at yourself. Are you really a good judge of character?

  11. Was Erco's mom a BG perhaps ?

She could not get a job in a bar and had to work the soi's

3'0'' tall and a flat head I heard.

Too bad the Doctor doesn't monitor all threads equally.Could it be he is a little bias?Language i've seen here isn't permitted is some threads. The thread I refer to was a plea for much needed advice that was scorned ands ridiculed by some members, only to be put out of it's misery by an unconcerned Admin."this thread is dead".

  12. Is this for real?

Looks as though it isn't :o

if he replies will see what can be done :D

Do you think he's on the level Bronco ? Or a urine remover ? :D

Yeah Doctor, It's for real.I've better things to do with my time then sit here and type bull#### one key at a time to keep someone else entertained. And for anyone else in doubt, please keep your snide remarks for another topic more deserving.I've been a member of this forum for a year and rarely respond.I do appreciate those who have shown a n interest in helping me.Thank you

  13. Hi Guys, No I'm not on a plane ,yet.I just got her to bring me back to the Internet shop.Yesterday she spent the day and evening at her parents house.Someone in the soi died, and from what she says everyone gets together and gambles for 2or three days while the body just lays there.Apparently so because I checked her hiding places for her jewelry and found 2 empty cases. Before , one contained a 2baht bracelet I bought her and the other a necklace and pendant I bought for her 10 year old daughters birthday. Both are now gone. While at her parents house she sent her father to come get me.I didn't go.I;m burned out on being "jai-dee" and buying the beer everytime. I enjoy 2 beers and then can't walk.I take 4 skeletal muscle relaxers every day so my legs don't cramp.Mixing the both and I am one immobile happy camper.Well that was before now.I'm still in the house until she physically throws me out.I never knew how hotheaded these women can be.No guys, I'm not joking about my situation is for real, but I want to cut my losses to a minimum if possible.I.paid cash for the Honda but the people wouldn't let me put it in my name because ,eventhough I've been in Thailand sinceAug.,I don't have my address registered at Imm..I rented a condo in Pattaya for 6 months and have been in K.K. since March 1st.Call me ignorant,I went by what a falang in Pattaya told me.My wife told me I could take the Honda but I don't know how to go about doing it legal. I was told a falang can buy a second hand bike without any stopulations.Does the bike have a title like in other countries? Thanks for all your responses.

  14. Hello guys,Ihave a problem and really need some advise i, if you would be so kind.I'll try to make this short and to the point. This being my third trip to Thailand in as many years.I fell into the trap as many other men have.I met and married what I thought to be a sweet person , only to find outotherwise.I can honestly say I liked "butterflying" occasionally.but that was before I met her.I met her in Sept. and married her inFeb.I never cheated on her.I am buying a house for her in KhonKaenand am only putting 10%down as a precautionary measure.I'm not 'keenow',and bought gold necklaces and braclets before and after the wedding.I fully furnished the house with new bedsets, fridge, living room set,air-con,large T-V and all the necessary things. The house is not big,4room,2 bedroom, ona newly developed area 5Kilos kilos north of the city.Well i've just been informed that i won't be living there anymore. My wife wants me to go but it's not that easy for me.You see,I am disabled by nerve receptors in my feet and legs and walk with a cane and fall alot.I know I can fly out of KhonKaen but i want to take my Honda I paid for.I want to have a sidecar attached so I can get aroundso I don't have to walk.My wife would drive us around on the Honda because I can not hold it up.If I want to go anywhere,I have to ask her to take me.I WILL NOT leave the Honda for her.I WILL BURN IT FIRST.She is prematurely inheriting everything, but there is nothing I can do.Can someone help me,please.I don't know anyone here other than her parents. If anyone has a friend with a truck or knows a taxi-truck driver who I can pay to take me and my Honda100 to Bangkok or pattaya , I would like to hire their services.I don't speak Thai well enough to be able to communicate with the baht bus drivers here.A phone number or e=mail address or any way of contacting a taxi- truck would be a blessing for me.Thank you for taking the time to read my post.I only hope someone will help me. 15. I've read a couple threads on the subject and am still confused.I recently married a Thai woman and am buying land witha house.I spoke to a lawyer here in Khon Kaen who stated that I could not file a 30yr. lease agreement with my wife because I am married to her.He said it was possible to do before we were married but it is not legal to do now.He stated a"lessor" cannot be related to a "lessee" in such a way.He suggested if I wanted a 30yr. lease, one option would be to end the marriage, file the 30yr. lease, and then remarry. This, it seems to me, would complicate the issue even more, not to mention the cost and time involved. He did draw up a paper with the heading,"Exchange Agreement". It was similar to the lease agreement I've seen, except it stated that it was solely my money that was being used for the purchase of the property. It also stated that foreigners, pertaining to me, cannot own the land.It will be in my wifes name alone, which I understand. What I don't understand, from readingother threads, some falangs married to Thai women have filed leases at their respective land offices without question. This makes me wonder how a lease such as this would hold up in a Thai court.I don't know of anyone who has used a "lease agreement" as a legal defense in court. Also if anyone is familiar with this "Exchange Agreement" I would like to hear from you.Anyone with a lawyer referral in this matter would be appreciated.

  16. I was just informed by an attorney here in Khon Kaen that a 30yr. lease could not be made between me ,a falang ,and my Thai wife.He said that the "lessor' cannot be related to the "lessee".I'm thorougly confused as in other threads i've read here, married falangs have submitted lease forms to their respective land departments without question. It makes me wonder what really is legitimate and would they prevail in a Thai court. The attorney I spoke to also suggested ending the marriage, submit the lease agreement and remarry. It seem that this would complicate matters even worse, besides the apparent costs and time involved. Not to mention that the lease agreement may not be worth the paper its on,being I've not read one thread or know of anyone who has based a defense using one.Any info would be appreciated.

  17. It your wife has brought the land , in her name as a Thai citizen , then you may have signed a letter at the Land Office saying that it was her own money, on which you have no legal claim.

You might then make a contract with her, giving you the right to lease the land from her, and put up a building on it - which would be your property.

This might help if she pre-deceased you.

You definitely need to take local legal advice about this business-venture.

Who will operate it, and pay income-tax on the profits, and handle all the local documentation ?

Previous posters' advice not to 'bet the farm' is definitely recommended.

Ricardo, I}m inthe same boat as I intended to seek a 2x30 yr. lease from my wife to insure my security. From what I understand, don}t quote me . A 2x30 yr. lease is a lease for 30 years which may be extended for another 30 years. The problem is the lawyer I spoke to claims that a husband cannot legally lease land from his wife.He says you cannotbe related to the "lessor".He drew up a paper with an "Exchange Agreement" heading. It's worded basically the same as a 30yr. lease agrement except in it ,it states that it is my money alone that is purchasing the land and house. It states that a foreigner cannot own the land, so i cannot stay there should something happen to my wife.I can only wonder what good this document serve in a Thai court. The lawyer also suggested another option would be to divorce, apply the 30yr.lease agreement, and then remarry.I've a couple other threads where falangs already married Thai wives and filed 30yr. leases at their respective land departments, but I wonder how legitimate they really.I'm really confused even after consulting with a lawyer.Don't get me wrong,I'm not criticizing anyone for past posts, I would just like to know if anyone has experienced anything similar to this.
