I am a UK ex-pat. I was married to a Thai woman with whom I had two daughters.
We divorced and I wound up with sole custody of the children.
I have an adequate income at about the 40000 THB threshold.
What kind of visa am I eligible for being that I am the sole support for these 1/2 Thai children?
Any advice out there?

Although I have more than enough income to meet the requirements of my retirement visa, I am always amazed that when get the annual proof of income statement from the USA embassy, I am never asked for proof.

Another fine example of all powerful Mr Section 44 Generalissimo Prayuth not putting an end to corruption.
Tell me, why did we need to have this coup?
A policeman was recklessly and irresponsibly killed, Here is a case where Prayuth should definitely intervene and prove his promises to represent all the people.

I have always been totally against capital punishment but I might make an exception for this guy. Maybe something like crucifixion. Something that ultimately causes death but over a long time. I cannot get the picture out of my mind of a little person, probably on her knees, making a wai and being brutally beaten.

I live in Kamphaeng Phet province Aumpher Phran Kratai.
As my wife has developed Parkinsons and I have spinal problems I am looking for a service that can visit our house a couple of times a month to do a thorough cleaning. The house is quite large so may require two days at a time depending on the size of the crew.
Anyone know of such a service in this area?

Did they question anyone outside of Bangkok?

Start early. But your question is valid in general. Is there a grace period? The only question that remains (for me that is) what happens if you have 1 day overstay, because for example your Border Run bus breaks down etc etc.

The answer is simple but long term: EDUCATION.
When they start investing in education for the masses and free or cheap vocational training for more than just the elite Thailand may come into the 21st century.

This morning I awoke and turned on the news (CNN) as I usually do.
Of course the news was full of the ongoing situation in Paris.
For the heck of it I ran through the Thai stations. Not one of them was carrying the news out of Paris.
The few that were showing news was only about local news.
The Thais need to be educated that there is a world beyond Thailand.

Nothing new here. The USA has always preferred to deal with dictators. Easier to deal with one person than a democratically elected parliament.
-
His definition of peace is for the general Thai populace to give up fighting for democracy and their human rights.
As one of the elite posted earlier : "Better less democracy than deads in the street."
But I prefer the quote of Ben Franklin offered by another earlier poster: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

Election dates please ?
The Deputy PM told the US Ambassador yesterday elections would be held by May 2017.
And if you believe this I have a bridge in Brooklyn I would like to sell you.
However, I think there will be some sort of uproar before then.

So much for freedom of speech as showing your opinion by wearing a particular color is a way of expression. I'll bet he doesn't prosecute any yellow shirt wearers although that would be a way of provoking.

Did anyone notice that he is trying to politicize this? And guess who he is targeting. It ain't the elites who are part of the Mafia.

So now the Junta is going to outlaw political protest especially when it disagrees with them?
That is know as a dictatorship.
As long as persons wearing red shirts remain peaceful it should be allowed.
However, I suspect they will be attacked by the forces of Suthep and, of course, the red shirts will be blamed.

He's got money so he will get off with a reprimand and some tea money.
Welcome to Thailand

Why not use this money to buy APC (armored personnel carrier) for soldiers in the south, who are now driving in Pickups and on scooters and being killed with roadside bombs.
If they just have to spend some money on the military, then this suggestion makes a lot more sense. If they just have to.
-
They will get the red shirts involved no matter how many gyrations they need to do to make the shoe fit.
Explosive chemicals used are very circumstantial evidence as there are many resources for explosives.
That they are similar to ones used in other explosions could be coincidental.
-
I was waiting for this to happen.
Have to figure some way to tie the red shirts to this even if they have to make it up.
As is noted in the article, how can someone previously convicted of a crime not own an ID card? (note that I said 'own' not 'carry'.)
As with all juntas, they get more paranoid by the day.

If this guy had given it any thought he would realize that a Bolivian is likely to be looked at.
He should have said no and handed the drugs to A European or American tourist type.
Of course like most poor peasants he was so desperate he decided he had nothing to lose.

As long as the majority of Thais (those outside of the Bangkok elite) are forced to remain uneducated and unskilled this
cannot and will not happen.
But as an earlier poster remarked correctly, the rich will continue to get richer.

Any excuse to stay in power and keep power from the people.

Under aged drivers and uninsured drivers seem to be the norm in Thailand as well as unlicensed drivers.
Several years ago my wife was stopped at a red light and was hit by an older pickup driven by an unlicensed and uninsured driver. He immediately took the police aside and a 10000 THB tea money contribution suddenly made my wife at fault even though she was struck in the rear (she must have backed into him). She struck her head and was unconscious for about 2-3 minutes. Now she has Parkinsons as a result. Her mother who was with her wound up with a broken clavacle bone. Fortunately we carry top end insurance but how does one compensate for her Parkinsons?
The police need to start doing their job all month instead of at the end and beginning of each month.

I buy most of my R/C supplies from hobbyking.com. They sell LiPo batteries to Thailand by shipping FedEx who will accept batteries.
A bit expensive but is the only solution I found.
However, when looking for small stuff (I am currently looking for pinned hinges) a local shop will help solve delivery times and costs.
