Had a similar problem. Neighbour sold his land next to us and buyer (Thai lady financed by absentee geriatric falang, to rub salt in the wound) infilled using our 2 meter wall as the retaining wall for the (wholly unnecessary) 1.5 meter landfill. Then she built her house and shop on top of that, towering over our garden (but legally correctly 2 meters from the boundary).
My wife went ape and called in the police and the pooyai-ban. Not a thing could be done except if the wall collapses they have to pay to rebuild and reinforce it. We built another meter of wall on top to cut down the offensiveness of the overlook, a move which has not been challenged.
I was more sanguine tthann my wife whose blood still boils. This is Thailand. Have to accept that the lack of regulation has its disadvantages as well as advantages. I'm gonna try to buy the land on the other side to prevent the same thing happening there.
BTW, even in a highly regulated property market like the UK I am sure there are no regulations that prevent someone with an otherwise legal development taking away your view (though there are regs preventing people blocking natural light, as tightly defined, typically used to prevent people from building extensions on boundaries that are higher than one storey).
Just wait for next rain season, let the ground saturate, then during the next heavy rain arrange for your wall to be completely removed. They will have to quickly remove some fill on their side and build their own wall, or their house may just collapse over night.

Saturday, If the anti-govt protesters are within 10 miles of these crazies, the head cracking will begin. Thai on Thai violence. All Farang's, including Journalists/Photopgraphers should take head and stay away.

Simple answer to your question, the famous Thai saying comes to mind......"Don't think too much"!

Oh my Buddha,
With all these posts one might conclude driving here is difficult at best and down right dangerous. When the venting dies down, lets make a list, do a poll, get the 100% distribution of the real causes of all the accidents. Should be entertaining.

She's not a midget, she's in the process of sliding under the table, trying to save face.
Talk about price inflation, 100B noodles. Used to be 30B not so long ago. Guess someone else gets the 200B for the drugs, she takes 70B profit for special noodle.

A little off subject, but book a one way ticket in the USA or book last minute and buy at the airport guarantee's a SSSS stamp on your boarding pass, which means spending about 30 minutes at security being checked for everything possible related to drugs and weapons. Last minute, one way, pay in cash, no checked luggage and you'll probably miss you flight due to security delay.

Many, many variables and possible blames. Rain, slippery roads, high speed, yaba, booze, faulty brakes, unqualified driver, sleepy, distracted by mobile, no traffic enforcement and Somchai, always the lowest common denominator. Take your pick.

Similar situation to some plastic chairs in front of shop house parking space in Pattaya.

More truths exposed! Not a land of smiles!
What's interesting to me about this story is that I've witnessed far more physical abuse by Thai women on men than the reverse, and while there may be no reason to doubt that stats that are presented in this story, I'd like to see a pole of abuse from the point of view of the men.
Saw a lady at work today who looks like she went a couple rounds with mike Tyson in his prime. All she could do is look down while walking and fiddle with her hair with her hands covering her face trying to hide two black eyes and lumps, bumps and bruises all over. She took a real beating, but showed up for work.

Let me guess, bus was in far right fast lane, travelling too fast, the driver was what, age 27, drunk at the wheel, on ya-ba at the wheel, texting at the wheel, fell asleep at the wheel? It's amazing how many large vehicles end up in the ditch or over turned. Talk about losing face. Real losers. They drive too fast on every road, in every situation, all because they and their little head are bigger than the next guy.

after the first paragraph i scrolled to the end;
Been driving in Thailand Cars and Motorcycles for almost 30 years,
no more dangerous than anywhere else as long as u dive offensiely
and
1, turn signals on don't mean there turning
2, your side can be the other persons side as well going with you or against you
DEAD WRONG. Thailand ranks number 3 in the world for Traffic related Deaths. Up there with completely un-developed, uneducated, war torn nations like Afghanistan and North African Countries. Have lived here 4 years and have seen or come upon accidents where 13 people have died. Yes, I've seen 13 killed in person.
Don't kid yourself. It is extremely dangerous here.

Been to Cambodia three times recently. On average, their English is much better than Thai's. And to boot, they all seem to be attending classes after work. In general they are studying English, French, Thai and World History. All while working, all on their own Nickle.

Just got back from Cambodia, 2nd trip in a month. Cambodia seems much more civilized than Thailand, and it's peope are much more safety aware than the Thai's. See they at least fear the law enforcement, have respect for the rules of law, no crazy drivers. They actually use their horn's freely to warn and self correct other drivers, not like Thailand where using the horn is considered a personal invitation to fight. Seems the Thai can learn something from a very poor and under developed ASEAN Neighbor. And BTW, just about everyone I met spoke on average much better English, and many I met worked day time and went to study at night......English, Thai, French, World History, etc. Siem Reap will also designate a central staging area for tour buses and tuk tuk's and keep them from entering certain city center area's. Large buses must have people ferried to and from a keep out area by tuk tuk or people can walk. Novel concept, Pattaya would benefit from such thinking.

I'm Italian, I'm over 60, any punk gets in my grill, with arm raised above my head (slipper or no slipper or unknown purpose), gets knocked out with one punch. End of story!

Im curious, been here 15 years and can count the private aircraft I've seen on two hands. Never see private planes anywhere around the country. What about Helicopters, I've never seen a single private/company helicopter. Granted, I don't spend much time in Bangkok. My question, is civil aviation really that non existent in Thailand? My next question, where do the Military and Commercial Pilots learn to fly? Straight from Video game to Simulator to Passenger Jet or Military Jet or Helicopter?

You will also find many foreigners who become Thai experts even after just been here for 1 month.
lol - Doesn't take a month for a lot of them. We had a guy that spent 8 days in Phuket. Came back to our camp in Kabul and started telling everyone about Thailand, as he (apparently) figured he knew everything about the place.
He had me LMFAO when he started going on about how all the Phuket bar girls were "clean" because they had to have a check-up once a month and the police enforced it and were not "corruptible" !
But it is true that for many foreigners, Pattaya (or Phuket) are the only places they've ever experienced, so what they've seen/felt/experienced forms the whole of their knowledge of Thailand.
I'm sure if I went to the UK and spent 8-10 days wandering around a small part of London and then started spouting off on all things English, there'd be plenty here that'd be quick to critique everything I said and point out the "London" isn't "England".
Same if I'd spent that same amount of time in New Orleans, Rio, Woomera or a host of other places.
For those that have actually traveled around to different parts of the country, yes, it can be annoying listening to those "experts" that probably don't even know where Sukhumvit is, or what's on the "dark side". The ones who think "Isaan" is a type of local sausage (well, the girls are always talking about "Isaan" and always eating so that must be what they are on about, right ?).
The ones who think "kwaii" is just a cute nickname and that the girls really, really mean it when they call him "sexy man" !
I just smile, shake my head sadly and move along. Trying to convince them otherwise, when they are flush in the euphoria of the moment, is a fools errand at best. It can take what feels like a lifetime (to a Pattaya "vet") before some of these "experts" are finally jaded enough to listen and learn about the rest of the country. Undoubtedly, some will never learn.
But before you confront them about their ignorance, remember that Pattaya is also home to the largest contingent of "ex" special forces operatives in the world !
In fact, after a few years of overheard conversations and various stories in numerous bars, I'm pretty sure that every member of every "special force" from every country in the world moves to Pattaya after they leave the military.
I'm actually surprised that Pattaya isn't promoted as being "the hub" of ex-special forces !
I'm not surprised that Pattaya seems to be "overlooked" when it comes to red/yellow protests, coups and other organized violence. Seems everyone "in the know" knows that every 2nd or 3rd foreigner in Pattaya is ex-Delta/SAS/SBS/GS9/Mossad/Spetnaz/Green Beret/JTF/(insert preferred elite special force unit here/) and so they leave us in peace.
I've heard the same many, but until I read a single story of a Farang getting the best of a Somchai, or a bunch of Somchai's in a fight, count me skeptical. As far as I know, the local's have been running up the score on all visitors for a long time.

I tell people Pattaya is ABNORMAL and does not fairly represent most areas/people of Thailand.

It's the culture. You lose face if you don't have enough food. Doesn't matter if Farang is paying. They always over order. After all, many of them don't know where their next meal is coming from. Also, being fat, shows you have wealth. That's partly why fat Farang are accepted, they are viewed as wealthy, must be rich to eat that much.
Depending on my mood, I either control the number of dishes ordered, just ask the remaining be bagged up and I take it, get it in the refer, or if the lady I'm with over orders after I tell her how much I will eat in advance, I sit there for two hours and make her eat every last bite. And your correct, they'll be eating withing 2 hours, and again in 2 hours, and again in two hours until they sleep. This is why I have always said, there is a 50/50 chance that a given Thai person is eating at any point in time.

Whats the point of it? To remind local residents how inbred they are?
squeal like a pig...boy
Yeh, when Deliverance came out, I was living in Georgia, told my Southern Bell Georgia born and raised GF "there really were people like this in the North Georgia Hills". She cut me off for two weeks. Really offended her. When we finally got to it, I squealed like a pig, and she cut me off for 2 months.

America actually had a system to keep track of residents for a couple hundred years, Census, Birth Certifications, Voter Regs, SS #, Tax Roles, Property Tax, etc. Doesn't work anymore as we have between 19M and 99M illegals (we don't really know), fraudulent voter registrations, identity theft, etc. So maybe Thailand and Europe are way ahead of USA, not posting their numbers. Now futile in the US as well. BTW, Babies born way too fast in Thailand, signs would have to change weekly, budget thing. US had advantage of a being a recent start up Nation. Just 300 years of History. Set up from day one basically.

"Retain" yourself the services of a "good" local Thai lawyer, get their business card and all their contact details and keep them in your phone, if in a "position" with authority, be polite to them and ask them to wait a moment while you call your lawyer, if they are up to anything dodgy they may back off, same thing will happen if you have contacts for a senior BiB or other "poo yai" in the area...
There are none, good local Thai Lawyers. Probably have to go to Bangkok. Most cases, regardless of crime, never go to court. Work it out on your own.
Pecking order here: In order of most influential. And remember, Money Talks.
1) Mafia/Politicial/Village Elder/Monk
2) Insurance Company and Insurance Agent
3) BIB
4) Court
5) Lawyer
6) Thai without connections
7) Soi Dogs
8) Farang
