  1. Thanks simon. Thought it was a bit strange. I have written to them so will let you know what they say.

Many schools and also governments restrict the age of foreign teachers.

With English First, the upper limit for them accepting qualified teachers seems to be 55 in most countries, and while I've been told they're flexible in this, their governments may not be.

The Indonesian govt also has an upper limit of 55. That's their retiring age for public servants.

i havent heard if thais have this.

i have taught tefl , toefl, tesol, and this year i will be 45.

    keep asking this more

    well...rock on

  2. i was informed early enough to get the extension for visa.

...used to work at bkk pattaya hospital and some schools of government.

any documents to show that u have forgotten the visa, for example kids with thai ?

some immi-officers understand it and dont have to be afraid to be deported.

in the future, put some reminders, for example on your phone , email, ...just name it.

    cheers,

What you are, of course alluding to is the concept of personal accountability.

Attempting to blame "HR" or ones employer for personal failure seems pretty weak from my point of view.

Agreed, if your planning on living/working in another country you should be expected to learn the rules of Immigration. Until we live in a borderless society everyone should be accountable for their own visas and not just rely on "HR" to handle everything. You should read up on the rules to make sure you are prepared in such cases... that is unless you really dont care about getting deported at any time.

my thought, and good morning from ubon, this subject is not going nowhere....

  3. I had a 6 week overstay and flew out of Bangkok on Christmas Day just gone, and I didn't have to pay a single Baht. I was prepared to pay and had the 20k in hand.

I simply waited my turn in the queue at immigration, kept my mouth shut, he looked at it, stamped it and off I went!

So thanks Thai immigration for my new iPad.

amazing... i overstayed 1 day dec 6th 2013..the check in desk told me before i went to immigration...then was told there i overstayed...there is a desk for over stay...
