  1. This may have been mentioned before but if so l missed it. Recently used VFS to re-new my British Passport, very efficient, no issues and received new passport within 6 weeks.

Along with the new passport VFS gives you a letter from the British Embassy which you give to Immigration, after completing your personal details. Immigration also has a form available “Transfer Stamp to New Passport Form” I decided to complete this and take it with me. On the form it gives a list of all the documents that need photocopying and presented to the I.O. I looked at the booking appointment system and there is a heading “Transfer Visa/Cancel Visa of Business Visa” Seems reasonable and the time given was 10 minutes. So incorrectly l booked an appointment in this category. I believe the section just relates to a Business Visa.

Arrived at Immigration, 15 minutes before appointment and was told no section for transferring visa and because my visa is based on Retirement l was given a queue ticket for Section L being retirement. Having known this maybe an appointment with ‘Extension Visa for Retirement” would have been appropriate. Decided to see if there was anything else l missed so asked the girlfriend to chat with an I.O. and check if the current documentation was in order. It wasn’t, to transfer visa stamps in the new passport they want the same documentation from the bank that you would have available for a normal Extension for Retirement. I use the 800K method but unfortunately l didn’t think to bring the passbook with me. So down to Bangkok Bank and had two letters done, one confirming the current balance in the account the other being a 6 month statement showing activity (fortunately the date l last Extended the Retirement Visa was less than 6 months, otherwise l believe anything after 6 months requires more time to be available)

So armed with the letters I duly waited for my ticket number to be called and all went well. Except run out of time and now need the multi-entry visa to be stamped at another session.

  2. Tried to do 90 Day On Line Reporting today without success. I have used On line reporting many times without any problems but this time I get a message " For further information regarding The 90-day Notification Report Service, please contact the Immigration Branch Office in your residence area." I have had this before when l was more than 14 days prior to the reporting date but it is the first time l have seen this within the 14 Days - reporting date is 26 Jan 2021. Anybody else had recent problems.

  3. I recently came back to Bangkok after a holiday in the UK. Whilst there I got a new passport. On entering Immigration at the airport I gave them my old passport with my Retirement Visa and Multiple Entry Visa stamped in it and my new Passport. No problem. Went to Immigration Bangkok the following day with completed Immigration form to "transfer stamp into new passport" and again no problem. Maybe something to do if you renew your passport without leaving Thailand.

  4. I have been in Thailand 6 years renewing my Retirement Visa each time with no problem. I notice on the Immigration web site they have a link to where you can register via their website and after successful registration go on to complete an online visa extension, including up loading documents. The purpose being you will be allocated a date, time and queue number to turn up on the appointed day at the Immigration Office. I went through the process submitted the form which then disappeared in the "ether" without giving the required information of date time and queue number. Any body else had the same experience.
