  1. Hello all,

I will be doing an Extension for my NON-O (Marriage) next week and am curious about the proof of finances.

I have a 100k baht pension but do not have 400k in the bank.

Am I correct in assuming that I need a notarized letter from my embassy? OR is a bank statement showing the 100k income per month enough for immigration?

    THANKS again!

  2. What is the difference between wearing white and black for mourning or while at funerals? Does the white come from the Hindu religion? Are either appropriate?

RIP His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

  3. I received an Email from the BKK field office regarding processing times. That is what led me to this "expiration" question. See below

Per our website, our current average processing time for I-130 petitions filed locally with the Bangkok Field Office is 1.4 months. This is not a guarantee in processing time, but merely an average.

6 months would not be enough for us to save money/ job hunt prior to leaving... so I am cautious about spending 420 dollars now only to need to start the process again later.

  4. Hello all,

I am sure this has been discussed somewhere...

My wife's Aunt, the holder of the house-book, is asking for 100,000 baht for a rental fee for the book.

I need it to do an extension based on marriage to my current NON-O Visa. My VISA expires 11 October.

    What are my options?

My wife and I rent a condo, have a child and live in the same city as the EVIL witch of the East.

My wife's brother owns a house and has his own book... and I have copies of the pages required; first page with my daughter and first page with my wife.

I was thinking she could get a copy of the original book from the GVT house or,

Be put on her brothers book or,

have the copies I currently have stamped/certified...

Thanks again gents... you have made my stay in the LOS a good one so far.

  5. Hello ALL!!

This coming month I am going to apply for an extension of stay (1 YEAR), on my Non-O Visa, due to marriage. This is not my 1st one but, it is also not a consecutive, marriage based, VISA/Extension. I have a few questions. My passport expires 2017 in February. Do I need a new passport before the extension application? I'm guessing yes. I also have a paper from my embassy that Is about 60 days old. Should I get a New one? I seem to remember something about 30 days... this one might be too old. Finally and probably the most difficult to answer; Me and my wife live in a friends condo. We have no contract with the condo owner. Is the contract a requirement to show cohabitation?

    Thanks!!!!

  6. I feel like I'm doing this wrong,,, I getting ready to get a income letter from the american embassy in Bkk and I have a feeling that I dont need to go to Savanaket Laos to get my single entry Non-O (marriage). I am currently on a tourist visa which was extended 30 days and will expire on the 20th. I have everything paperwork wise that would/could possibly be required.

Why cant I go to immigration here in BKK (like I believe I did 3 years ago) and get my 90 day single entry NON-O there?

I have my wifes book, ID, birth record, name change paper work... all coppied & signed

I have my daughters birth record, passports all copied and sign/unsigned(by my wife)

But my wife stayed in Nakhon Sawan...this might be the stopper.

    Thanks!!!

  7. Hello!

    I will be going to Laos this week to get a Non-O Single entry based on marriage. One of the requirements is a guarantee letter. Does anyone have an example of what my wife should write. I was told by one of the gentleman outside the embassy that all it needed to say, in Thai, is;

    Date

My name is (WIFE NAME) and I am married to (MY NAME) and our daughter is (daughter name). We live at (address). I guarantee this information is correct

    Signature of wife

Seems overly simple so if there is anything I am missing please let me know.

    Thank you!!!

  8. Thanks for the answer. I did the address change at the CW already but I guess you mean wifes housebook. It's been painless at Samutprakan but I just worry that I will forget some small document and it will be trouble. It's not easy for my wife to take days off also so hopefully things will go fine.

    Tip:

What I did in Samutprakan is that after you have all the documents and you are waiting final time in queue = take a video with your smartphone and explain what you have in your hand page by page.

I watched that video every year just to make sure I have all the documents. I will do the same again at CW.

"What I did in Samutprakan is that after you have all the documents and you are waiting final time in queue = take a video with your smartphone and explain what you have in your hand page by page. "

Wouldn't it be simpler to organize everything before going to the office. You could make a list of the forms & documents and save it in Word for reference next year. In some government offices making a video of things in your lap while mumbling to yourself might be viewed as eccentric ... or worse.

I like the video idea ... It is perfect for the person who either does not speak "perfect" English and to translate the vague instructions given by immigration. Although I would not rely solely on this due to possible changes from year to year.

  9. My Non-O visa was originally extended 1 year for marriage.

I then extended the NON-O for education. It is not an Ed-VISA

The extension ends in January 2016.

I intended to go back to the University but have since decided to stay with my wife.

An really I could attend next year before the current extension expires.

What is stopping me from cancelling this extension and extending due to marriage.

The main problem I see is the 4 month lapse in time from my university until now.

Worse case scenario? 20000 baht and deportation?

    CONFUSED

  10. My current extension is good until Late Jan of 2016.

I was originally planning to return to school, but decided to stay with my wife and daughter pausing my studies.

    On a another side-note...

I have read ThaiVIsa for many years... I can say, with certainty, that without you guys and gals, many lives would have been much more strenuous and possibly ruined, God bless you all.

God bless the trolls also... the world is in balance. Good will always need evil. gigglem.gif

  11. Marriage, they ask personal questions, so it's out of the way, but as a father of a Thai national, separated or not, you have the right stay in this country to see your daughter

I certainly hope this is true. I do not think my wife registered our separation. Is there a way I can find out? In regards to the Child extension requirements, can someone point me in the right direction to where I can read the law myself?

  12. We could possibly move in together in November. Is this really needed? If it is and can be done wouldn't the short time living together pose a problem? Would we both need to sign the lease? Furthermore, who if anyone would immigration speak to? My wife is in the aforementioned matriarch's house-book and so is my daughter.

  13. I have a current extension of stay based on Education. It expires late January but I am no longer attending school. I Original applied for my Visa and received an extension of stay 2 years ago due to marriage. 2 months ago I stopped attending my school and moved back to my wife's home town. I recently learned that when I stopped attending the school my extension should and might be cancelled. Prior to this knowledge I changed my residence and did my 90 day report. I can only assume that because I wasn't arrested and deported that my current extension has not been cancelled, My wife lives with a friend and due to many circumstances does not wish to immediately move in with me. We have a lovely daughter who also lives with my wife. I believe that I should immediately apply for a new extension of stay. Since my wife and daughter do not live with me what is my best option? Another Education extension is not currently an option. No schools here that qualify and I would really like one that I would attend and not fake my way through it. I want to stay near my wife and daughter in an attempt to rekindle our relationships. If I was to do another extension based on marriage or Child does our not living together pose a problem? I remember the Immigration officials coming to our home and speaking to the matriarch. My wife has cut-ties with this lady so we can not claim (falsely) to live there. Thank you for your assistance.
