A lot of narrow minded and bitter opinions here.
Does no one stop to think that every country in the world grapples with overstayers from all nationalities and each government deals with the problem the way they fèel they need to.
Only reason we're hearing about it here is we are on a Thai expatriate forum.
I'll probably be labeled a Thai apologist as everyone here with differing views from the mainstream TV posters are. I'm not ashamed to admit that I love Thailand and it's people. Sure some things about Thailand annoy me but I also get annoyed by some things about my home country.
We all have our differences but that's what makes the world an exciting place.

My Indian friend once took a ladyboy to a hotel room, believing she was a real lady.
Once he found out, he refused to pay her and even demanded the money for the hotel room to be paid back to him. Ladyboy started to fight him and threatend to smash a bottle on his head.
We all had a good laugh when he told us the story.
What has this to do with an idiot shop owner assaulting someone?

So what happens then if I have say 1million B in account. Can I still make withdrawals as long as the balance doesn't go below 800k for the 3 months?

To be fair this happens all too often all over the world, not just Thailand. Just last month 2 people died after their car fell from a 4th floor shopping centre carpark in Indianapolis, USA. Also last month a man in Luton, UK died after his car fell from a multi level carpark. In February and June this year people where injured in similar incidents in Australia.
Of course it's just so much fun to have a go at the Thais isn't it?
