This this is true or is it more hype from real estate agents? I looked at a few condos a few weeks ago at View Talay 1 and 2, but I thought the prices were a bit high considering the return on investment.

We managed to speak with the clearly disturbed woman who mentioned to us that she had recently broken up with her foreign boyfriend and simply could not cope with the separation and began to drink heavily.

Although many will find this story amusing there is a serious side to this which highlights the lack of psychiatric care available to people such as this. We have reported on cases of self-mutilation and even suicide in the past which could have been prevented if the support for these emotionally unstable people was there.

180 local business operators discuss Tourism problems here in Pattaya.

  At Pattaya City Hall, Khun Niran, the Mayor of Pattaya chaired this meeting along with Khun Sansak, the former Sport and Tourism Ministerial Adviser along with Khun Raiwat from the Chonburi Provincial Council. 180 local business operators were invited along to discuss ways to increase the image of Pattaya in Thailand and the rest of the world. Many delegates offered advice to the meeting including Mr. Drew Noyes, who suggested that Pattaya City Hall should utilize the private sector more to assist them in this matter. Recent events such as the Asian Earthquake and the suggested over-reporting of crime in local newspapers and television were also brought up as reasons behind the low tourism numbers being experienced here in Pattaya at present. A further meeting is expected in the coming weeks.

So I guess they will now try to stop the newspapers reporting crimes ! !

Park villas and Eakmongkol Threppasit are about equal and both offer big houses on small land! european houses that are built for chinese thais, disgusting! seriously you think some of them houses are worth the 8 Million baht price tag?

Forgot two very nice Thai style homes on a small development just behind Metro condo larger quality finish homes for around 11 mill. you mean jomtien garden homes??? on what used to be near a lake but is more like a swamp pit! full of mosquitos and a must buy if you want dengue fever! also right next to the new 3rd road of jomtien???

Tickle you are in the buisness you must be selling for park villa.Chateau Dale better location bit more pleasing on the eye go and ask the people who live there.View talay tend to agree with you on that one.You must get out of the office more Green residence 5 min from Park villa developer very good track record.Phun far had a look at this place probaly the best quality homes i have looked at not new look at the mags for the ads then go and have a butchers; over my budget unfortunately.PV and eak about equal qualitty and design and i meant the price should be about the same 3mill for 3 beds 500 000 for pool.Park villa low door heights for chienese thai.Did not know mossies just stayed thereat j gardens access to site from two ways not bad.

I just spent 3 weeks at home, and watched a bit of TV now and then. After a couple of days, I could hardly bother turning the set on unless there was a good movie on. When the news came on, I'd go for a shower or out for a bite.

When you see the exact same news stories day after day, with the exact same ads, played in the exact same order, every single day, it gets boring to say the least.

Have these people never watched a real TV station ? If so, did it ever occur to any of them to take notes on how to improve their program/station ?

The one station (I think it is the one that show the Pattaya Mail News), looks like strictly a family affair as far as the presenters/reporters are concerned. Qualifications not required, just family affilliation.

The ad for the hotel (I forgot the name, thankfully), where they ask you to come join in their Songkran celebration, 4 weeks after Songkran finished.

Let's not forget, TONY'S FITNESS ACADEMY ! I dread the day when Tony decides to run for Mayor of Pattaya. His current ads are bad enough.

On the other side of the coin, just to be fair. These guys (stations/channels) probably are not making a lot of coin, and therefore can't afford to hire professional programming specialists, ad men, cameramen, reporters and so on.

If you want to look professional, you've got to pay professonal. When you pay amateur, you get amateur. (How's that for a saying !)

I've mentioned this place before, with the auction and all that, and asked for advise on the place.A lot of negative answers came back.I drove down there last week and think the houses look bloody great and wouldn't mind getting one but for 12 mil ish I want to be sure, so, experts out there whats the feeling on this place ?? Serious answers appreciated as the money mentioned aint chicken feed is it. Someone must have a bit of inside info.... If you don't want to put it up them P.M me.

Advertised as the best development seen in pattaya THE TREASURES OF THE WORLD ARE ALWAYS SOLD AT AUCTION.These homes are about double of what they worth.The location is not the best even.Check out the constrution carefully the quality does not warrent the asking price.There are far better developments for the money you want to spend that side of sukumvit.They were very fortunate to find people daft enough to pay over the odds for them in the first place not even title deeds.If you proceed use your own lawyer the place does not smell right.Definatley not a treasure and not worth 12million.TAKE CARE

could anyone give me any advice on first buying and then running a bar in pattaya.

Had enough of blighty and going to sell my house and have about 15-20k spare to go over to pattaya.i have had previous bar management  experience  as well as a sales and marketing background within the toursit industry ie uk holiday parks. tho i suspect this will be as much use as a glass hammer in pattaya.

all the same nothing ventured nothing gained an all that. i just need the lowdown on buyin a bar/ guesthouse mainly and then the problems of running one over there.

as i said any constructive advice would be welcome

not an expert or nothing but have been drinking in a lot a beer bars and i know what i lilke, and have been studying the subject but have gone for property invest.

1. do not use blue tiles as a bar counter ( they are cold) go for thr the wood effect

2. Get a nice a pool 'standard' pool table (not american with big pockets)

3. Get pretyy looking barmaids/blokes

4. Put a BAR like enlosure around your gaff, people like to gawk at passing poeple.

5. Play music as per clientlele ie Eminim to a 60 + guy is not going to go well vise/versa7

6. people in pattaya like to look or ............ so make up your niche

TRY the new craze become a REAL ESTATE AGENT it must be the best buisness.The agents in pattaya must be catching with bar owners .Anyone done a count up.Nightmarch change shifts but take abottle or two.Good luck you will need plenty of it .

I posted something about a potential clampdown on foreigner developers starting in Phuket a couple of months ago and my understanding that it would be extended to Pattaya quickly thereafter.

Just heard that the farang guy behind Temple Court houses was nabbed on Saturday and deported on Monday for working without a work permit.  This was second hand info but believe the source is pretty well connected with the property business in Pattaya so likely to be correct.  Of course, no mention of anything on the comic 'news' shows websites.  Have not seen any of the TV shows though as I am not in Pattaya at the moment.

Wonder how this will affect other wannabee developers in Pattaya.  Not sure if its a one off or the first of a series of investigations.  Has anybody seen or heard anything about this?

You are correct you would not see this on any farang news shows as all of these front men for the shows who are volenter cops permit required.One is now advertising real estate for sale with himself as the contact i doubt he has a registed company or stated on his work he is allowed to conduct that type of buisness.All these guys are interested in is getting info about cambodians getting nabbed for doing constrution work so they can show these poor people being rounded up at soi 8 so they can get their face on tv .No falangs just in case they get checked out.

Please can we have the BBC back or with as many members this site has. I personally think a great informative,educational, funny and probably great advertising come infomercial channel could possibly be acquired, You're already broadcasting over the net. TAT could be a sponser here.
