& so many of the motorcycle accidents are caused by stray dogs. Just another one yesterday here. About every year or so another bunch of school kids come off their bike in front of my place - trying to avoid Soi dogs.
The dogs are also one of the biggest downers for tourists who come for a nice quiet holiday - & end up vowing never to come back, kept awake by the dogs barking & fighting all night.

We designed a cooker for Khao Larm (the sticky rice cooked in bamboo) that reduces CO2 by 99% - from using 250kg of coconut husk via the traditional method, to about 2kg of gas. ALso greatly reduces smoke, soot and ash. Now, when neighbour cooks there is just a nice aroma of caramelising sweetened coconut milk through the village, rather than all the smoke & ash, etc.
1,000 tons CO2 negative over last 10 years.

how ridiculous to be scared by such small things.
I face them every night and never felt threatened.
Soi dogs are responsible for a number of deaths across Thailand every year.

I have quite a few floor fans. Lubes only seem to last a few months - using Singer sewing m/c oil and / or SOnax w MOS2.
All seem to slow down & eventually not start, & if you miss it, the motor can burn out - ;-(
Does anybody know what is the best oil for fans?

"Hungry snakes ?"
No snakes on the 4th floor of my shophouse -
and, I am quite concerned. 3 nights now I have been listening for other dook gairs nearby - none. Don't know if anyone has been spraying around recently - my garden has also gone south in this time. Or has there been a leak of some chemical from Rayong industrial area?
-
It appears that all the local dook gairs have disappeared as well. I have been out in the open for several hours now; normally I would hear one or other every 20 - 30 minutes (guesstimate) but have not heard one in this time.
-
I live about 1/2 way between Pattaya and Sattahip.
On Sept 19 I noticed my resident Dook Gair exhibiting very unusual behaviour. S/He was outside on the roof (shophouse) during the day. Never been seen outside before in daylight. Hardly ever see it, normally just hear it sounding off shortly after sunset, then about every 20 minutes. It lived in a plumbing cavity in my shophouse, I think it liked the resonance its calls got when it sounded off from inside there.
It disappeared that day. At the same time I noticed a few dead jing joks (geckos) on the floor - & population of jing joks markedly dropped.
I haven't been able to listen for an extended period but it also appears that there are now no longer any dook gairs in the vicinity. - I used to hear them at night from within a 100 - 200 metre radius.
Anybody else lost their dook gairs or jing joks?
-
Lost it.
BUT - contact lawyer or visa agent before you do anything else.

So begpacking is quite an ancient sport, then!

It was a brilliant motor. Effectively a radial aircraft engine, reduced ad absurdiem? A real shame that Mazda had to work with the abortion of a machine the Wankel - amazing they got it that good. If they had had the Sarich, piston engines would now only be found in museums. & very old museums, at that.
And Wankels.

maybe these days he couldn't afford to 'buy you off' as competition;
How would he know if he could / couldn't afford to 'buy me off', if he has not asked 'how much'?
Direct cost saving on a 30,000 US car (which he doesn't make) would be of the order of 4,500 to 5,000 - not counting benefits of weight, friction, battery (smaller, or more range with std batt), handling, packaging & NVH reduction.

so forwarded your details to Ralph Sarich instead...
As student rep on the NSW branch of SAE Australasia, I arranged Sarichs' talk at UNSW - maybe late '73. At the pyramidy building top campus. Forgot it's name. But he may not be well now - wrote to him a month ago, new EV driveline etc etc etc - no reply. Or he may be dead?

I would imagine the guy has loads of people with great new business ideas, pestering him every single day.
Absolutely true.
And he didn't come to Thailand to seek new business ideas, only to help the kids. So you shouldn't take it personal.
I don't take it personally. However, it defies logic to ignore someone that says they can reduce your car cost by 15%, when your company is on shaky ground. (sacked 9%, closed some solar operations, etc etc) And where did he go from Thailand? To Shanghai, to negotiate building Teslas' China factory.
& successful businessmen are often known to look under every rock for new opportunities to improve their product, save money, etc etc, no?

I don't understand
I invited Musk to see an EV driveline I have built - so his Thai trip would not be a complete waste of time -
My post just got deleted w/o reply or comment. To my mind, that defies logic.

Some watching Musks Twitter feed on the day of the rescue may have seen the post below it - was there about 1/2 a day -
Rumour has it Musk has something to do with electric vehicles -
Next morning, it had been deleted! No comment, no reply, no nothing - just deleted. HTF does he 'know' I am lying?
Anybody want to ask me if I have had a gutful of the IP mafia?

Yes, but Musk did not accomplish this task in the very narrow time frame. While he was still fiddling around with his mini-sub, fantastic divers had already rescued the boys (or were in the process of successfully doing so)!
Time frame when he was asked was something like 4 months (end of wet season)
Shade for water supply - it's a rental so cheap solution needed
